  1. I am sure she gobbled plenty of meatballs, and a fair few sausages, on her way to the top
  2. more thainess on display big deal, she wore a thai style dress in a video. the thais are probably the only ones who know it is thai style, to the rest of the world its just a random asian style dress
  3. Thainess is being displayed here in all its glory with all the hoop jumping and restrictions on those entering thailand, you would think that the thais have covid all buttoned up, and need to protect the thais from the dirty infected tourists. the reality is just the opposite, the covid cases in phuket are almost all local, and just a handful of tourists being infected, likely fro the thai local.
  4. open is not the same as open with multiple hoops to jump through before arrival and restrictions while here open is buying a plane ticket, flying here breezing through immigration as before and the ability to go where and when you want
  5. the stories we hear about are just tip of the iceberg this one will soon gone into the black hole of an investigating committee they will take a few months to invent with what the "misunderstanding" was and all will be well...
  6. I'd be more impressed if it was a sighting of a bear preparing am omellette
  7. "General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, Prime Minister and Defense Minister, was speaking about three initiatives to drive Thailand towards a digital economy and create more economic opportunities, firstly, by building technology and digital infrastructure, including Big Data infrastructure." big talk for a guy whose government cant even produce functioning websites for things as mundane/trivial as the 90-day report
  8. It seems like they think that tourists believe that thailand is a perishable good, and that tourists have this irresistible urge to come here before thailand's expiration date. Although thailand is popular destination, the powers that be are operating under the false premise that tourists will come here by any means necessary, as soon as it is opened by the government. They are conflating open with open for those who will do X, Y, and Z. When the wife says to hans, bill, or trevor "hey hon, how about a trip to thailand", he will look into it and find all these requirements/restrictions to do so. So he will report back to wifey, "babe, I'd love a trip there, but lets wait until we can just book a flight and go without any hoops to jump through, and go anywhere and do anything we want while there. After all, thailand will be there next year, when we have gotten our finances back in order from my covid shutdown losses."
  9. That there needs to be a specific law against the government doing "enforced disappearance", i.e. murder, of their perceived political enemies who are basically just saying things the government doesn't like or want to keep hidden is crazy
  10. the true pathology is that the concern is about the image of the RTP rather being bad behavior that wont be tolerated. basically, they are saying the problem isnt that this happened, but that people found out about it.
  11. being well received by businesses doesnt matter what matters is how it is received by tourists/divers they always seem to forget that to get more people wanting to come here, their plans need to be designed based on what is good for the tourist/customers, not the businesses/economy
  12. So without any real data that indicates that the current policy has not worked, they just switch to another one. this just switches businesses from being shut to shutting out most people from going to them this is the worst choice they could have made for businesses. they will have to pay all the costs associated with being open with a very limited portion of the population allowed to go to them.
  13. they can comply with them, they just cant economically survive implementing them
  14. how about a pilot program where cops dont kidnap or rob people or run gambling dens or be drug dealers or extort people.
  15. "A Police Hospital doctor drove his Porsche Cayenne SUV into the back of another car on Ratchapreuk Road outbound heading towards Taling Chan yesterday morning" a real dr. feelgood... "the doctor was under the 50 mg limit for DUI - he had 44 mg % in his system." so was he drunk heading to work, or on his way home from treating patients? unfortunately, there is no good answer to that
  16. as usual, many of the forum readers lack skills in recognizing a joke. since I know you dont read very fast, I typed this slowly.
  17. I see that TAT has now expanded into predicting restaurant profitibility
  18. unfortunately, thai culture precludes any underlings from pointing out the flaws in their superiors plans prior to their announcement. this type of needed feedback only comes from those affected by the poorly thought-out policies after they are announced. this is why so many flip flops occur, if not outright disappearance of the new policy without comment from the ministry it effluviated from
  19. "They intimated that the CCSA was prepared to give the private sector a high degree of autonomy in the opening of restaurants and other businesses servicing the public." very smart move. then they can blame any increase in covid stats on the businesses not being careful enough in pursuit of profits.
  20. I think it would be a smart idea to have some protests locations where a bit of violence occurs would be a good way to pull the cops there, and leave other places open for larger more peaceful protests that dont then get the rubber bullet/tear gas treatment. Taking advantage of the inability of the thai police to walk and chew gum at the same time seems like a good way to deal with the over the top response of the police we have seen before
  21. I wonder how many 0's were required for this small bit of sanity to be injected into the so-called reopening policy
  22. Translation: Concerning all our talk and actions indicating that covid was an existential threat to civivlization, nevermind.
