"Prayuth informed his followers of plans to stimulate the Thai economy with 95,500 new jobs and 4,303 separate projects across 35 provinces. He claimed this would help millions get back on their feet." he was obviously closely advised by TAT officials in coming up with this prediction

“Their boss doesn’t let them go back to work." this is somewhat happening at my job. One guy got covid and worked in an an office of 3 and that had a a lot of interaction with the next office over with 3 in it. none of the other people tested positive. After he was in isolation for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks at home, now only 1 person can come to work each day in both offices, and the day the covid guy comes in , no one comes in the other office either.

"This has proved to be difficult so far, he said, because of dealing with producers. " translation: "many of the international vaccine producers wont provide the required brown envelopes/kickbacks, or when they do, it takes a long time to agree on the amount. Thus, we cant buy from them or make a deal in a speedy fashion, which occurs in the countries that just do straight deals with the producers"

I think the real impact of foreign tourism on the GDP was well known by those in the government/TAT. they just didnt want to admit publicly how dependent the economy was on dirty foreigner-derived cash. Easy to say its just a meaningless percentage as long as the cash flowed. however, when the spigot was abruptly turned off, they were able to quickly say that it was 20+% of GDP, which means they knew all along they just never imagined that they would have to admit it.

Thai Police Commissioner says violent riot-control was lawful
poskat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I havent seen VDO of the protests as they begin, so I dont know how aggressive the protesters might be at first, but it seems that the government has now defined these as riots, which can allow them to use more violent means to deal with them.
