Phuket Opinion: The problem with being held responsible for everything
poskat replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
"And this is certainly not to excuse any krieng jai, the Thai practice of not upsetting the social order by questioning any person in a perceived position of superiority, either officially or socially, which many Thais uphold to be an integral aspect of Thai culture." which explains why thailand is the clusterfxxk that it is -
Another Great Flood looming for Thailand? Experts weigh the risks
poskat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Now I am more worried than ever.... the experts told us that thailand didnt need to be in the international covid vaccine consortium because they would have more than enough from their own production, and we saw how that worked out. the PM said no flooding this year literally a few weeks before all the flooding began these guys have no idea what they are talking about on any issue no flooding in BKK predictions have been rapidly followed by flooding in nonthaburi I am buying some stock in the water pump/raft/small boat index fund today.... -

OIG engage in "stressful" meeting discussing "Red Bull Boss" case
poskat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"Daily News said that a meeting of top investigative officers at the Office of the Inspector General yesterday was highly charged and stressful." the stress was said to be due to their difficulty in coming up with a "misunderstanding" that would explain the lack of action on the case that could be accepted by anyone with an IQ above 75. -
typical thai assbackwards thinking. the thai media says these are the reasons we think that the numbers arent being hit why bother finding out the reasons why tourists arent coming from potential tourists. its the same as when the government says they want to have "high quality" tourists visit, without thinking what is it that these types of people would want in a place, and first setting those conditions up first.

Thailand bets on Diwali season & Indians to boost its tourism

"Thailand is betting on travellers from other countries to take advantage of its relaxed rules for tourists" unfortunately, their ideas of relaxed rules are not what tourists would consider relaxed rules. -
State of Emergency Extended, Bands Return to Eateries

Although most covid deaths occur in people with obesity-associated conditions, there has been no outcry by any health officials about the idea of exercising as a way of lowering the covid health problems. seems they only have stock in the pharma companies, not any gyms prevention, no pharmabucks, yes -
Reopen simply means "Able to fill out all the required forms and get the correct certificates and then be subjected to whatever length of quarentine and covid testing and any other restrictions they come up with to go to a specific area in thailand" It definitely doesnt mean that you can just buy a plane ticket, arrive, go through immigration, and go on your merry way to enjoy an area with all businesses open and no curfew

this concept will last as long as it takes for the cops/pols to feel the pinch in their wallets from the lack of pay-offs from the entertainment based businesses. it took Las Vegas about a year to go from their new family-oriented concept to "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"

Government makes bold move to woo wealthy, highly skilled foreigners
poskat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"Highly skilled professionals from overseas could impart training to Thais" I was recruited to a major university to do just this my reward has been having to do 90-day reports, yearly visa extensions/work permit renewals, pay taxes while experiencing the beloved dual pricing system here, and being accosted on the street by the cops more than a few times about what I was doing and going.
