the medical people dont factor the effects their decrees have on the overall economy, or other bad outcomes associated with their plans when designing them.
covid was never the existential threat to humanity that is was described as.

this is is just a reflection of thai thinking that if something is more expensive, it must be better.
raising the price on something that doesnt have better benefits than a lesser priced product doesnt make it premium, it makes it bad value.
I doubt anyone planning a holiday will say, "Honey, I heard that they raised the prices in thailand, so lets go there for our trip"

yes, the paranoia in the thais is still quite strong. I still see quite of few double masked outside.
I went maskless outdoors this week, and I have experienced more than a few thais sharply veering away from me as far as possible when they notice I am not masked.

the covid paranoia among the thais is very strong. At my job and in my building, when thais are in the elevator, they immediately plant their faces up against the walls.
the other issue is the thai's obsession with conformity, with no one willing to go first, despite what they may want to do.

I am not sure that it was prayuth's cleverness that explains his longevity, I would ascribe it to his being willing to use force to put down protests against him.
