The other day my television died. In the eyes of some that might not seem to be a good thing but I try to look on the positive side. Ends up the sister-in-law inherited a fixer-upper and I was able to go to Sinthanee and buy a new Bravia with all the bells and whistles.
Since there really isnt any content, I opted not to go for the 4k model. I was really impressed with the improvements since I last bought around six years ago, and the price was better than I expected. So now I can watch movies and my favorite National Geographic programs in HD, on a much more beautiful screen. A very good thing for all concerned. 4k??
Thought I might mention the new one is much thinner and has lost weight compared to the old one.

I quite liked Gravity. One of the few movies that 3D enhanced my viewing experience on the big screen.

Thank youHi Scorpio, I went to MaeSalong today. The cherry trees have started to blossom. I asked someone there who has some in his garden and he said his will be at their best towards the end of the week.

The place VF is talking about is called Chiang Rai Granite. It has moved but it is still in the same general area, possibly opposite the Art Bridge. There are a couple of smaller places on the opposite side of the road. We got ours there too.

Went there today. Very nice ambience. Coffee was also very good albeit a bit pricy. Skeleton staff today. No band and no waitresses. Maybe evening? Reccomended. Thanks Scea

Anyone know if the cherry trees are blossoming yet?

I smell the aroma of turkey baking in the oven. The timer says it needs another hour but I can already tell that dinner this evening is going to be a very good thing.
Here is that turkey right out of the oven. It was a small one at around 6kg but there are still leftovers.
Leftovers are fine. I will be around later
I prefer leftovers.

Agreed they are quite high but it is all imports.Try BigC, I bought one in my town. Worth a try, 295 bht and works fine. Robinson's wanted daft money.

Thanks. I spoke to the guy from Boomerang Rock Climbing and Adventure Park and he said not available in Chiang Rai.
He should know. Come to think of it, most of the swings I have seen locally use chains not rope.
Maybe Home Pro? but not sure. Wife thinks so.

I have an unused CBR 250 muffler off my Mugen version 250. Does this have any value or should I just toss it?

Just watched "After Earth", Will Smith's father/son vehicle.
A bit average, I watched it right through but the other half fell asleep.
Agree 100 percent, although I did make it to the end.

It is apparently a club called Chiangrai Paramotor. I talked with a few guys for a little bit today at the air/bike show. Will investigate after thing die down. they apparently meet on Saturday mornings at the old CR Airport.

You are welcome as well as anyone else. Period.
I am not sure Mr. M. would agree with you and I have been told that I am not welcome.
Absolutely not true. Everybody is welcome. It is just that I can not remember the last time anyone on this site has attended. I guess it is not their thing , which I have no problem with. There appears to be no audience. That was actually our potluck, started here by Scorpio1945, but they sort of highjacked it. Members of this forum are no longer welcome unless they switch allegiances, apparently.

That is why I installed windows with screens on the outside. Never have to touch them.
Ditto! The Thai must think I am nuts because I close my windows in the cool of the evening but I too, do not want to open the screens to close the windows before bed only to have a battalion of mozzies invade myI love nature but prefer it remain outdoors and not invade my inner sanctum. So that means closing all the windows before the screens become coated with bugs. If I have to sacrifice the breeze to avoid having bugs in the house, that is what I will do.
Perhaps when it gets a bit cooler they will go away for a while.
home.

If you mean the Mae Sai Immigration Office then the answer to all your questions is Yes. They can do anything any other office can do. Not sure what you mean by exit visa, as one typically needs a visa to enter, not exit Thailand.
In addition, on the first Saturday of each month (Oct 5th, next date), they setup shop at Central Plaza, saving many of us from a long drive to Mae Sai.
I'm moving to the Chiang Rai area in November from Phuket. I will need to post a new residence once I arrive in Chiang Rai using the TM-28. I currently hold a non-res O visa good until February 2014, however I'll need to do a 90 day report inbetween. I assumed that both proceedures could be done in Chiang Saen not Mai Sai?
Am I to understand that its either Mae Sai Immigration or once on the first saturaday of each month in Chaing Rai at Central Plaza...shopping mall? What floor?
You cannot change your drivers licence in Chaing Saen? Boy this is brutal. Driving all the way to Mae Sai and back...
90 day report can be done by mail, easy, but otherwise yes.

if Kevin is the one I am thinking of, he may be talking about the other CR forum.
Kevin ssid he would post on the CR forum when the bookins start. Like to go to this one as they have akids lunch and maybe sants can go along ho ho ho
Chrismas or New year is one time I would disagree with you VF. I always find the better hotels with their excellent food rather sterile places at festivals like these. I think at these times the less formal settings can be a lot more human.
Not coming from a bar culture myself, I would be more inclined to look into more upmarket venues like the Meridien Hotel or one of the other nice hotels. It is more of a family friendly environment. But that is just me.Good morning
Just want to know there is a restaurant in chiang rai or chiang mai who is having a Christmas dinner and lunch .His name is Kevin (great name). Has anyone heard anything about this funtion.
I and my wife will be in chiang rai on the 24th of December.
