220 kmh at Bira race course outside Pattaya in formula Renault, great fun.

Try oil gargle.
Using a table spoon of sesame seed oil, or other oil, your teeth will be whiter after only 15-20 minutes. There are apparently numerous other benefits with this Ayurvedic treatment.
Do a search for gargle and oil to find more information.

In the Thai context, I think it is most proper to refer to people who are of European descent this way, rather than farang or white or caucasion.
The reasons:
-- farang is considered an impolite word by more educated Thais, shouldn't we follow their lead and NOT use an impolite word?
Could you please clarify what you mean as I can not follow your logic at all.
Do you suggest that Thai people should scrap the word "farang" in their language and substitute that with the English term "people who are of European decent" ??? If so good luck
You also say that farang is considered an impolite word by more educated Thais, if that is the case what is the polite term educated Thais use??

I can see business going up dramatically in this, and other bars in this area, when the new Tops super market opens just across from the bar. Foot traffic should increase dramatically and the old Jomtien Complex could finally be a busy place.

...It seems to me that the sections you quote have very little to do with the question of carrying your passport at all times.
Right. The race is still on. Just the same, if you look carefully you may find a potential lead in ZZZ’s post. I am hors concours (not taking part in the competition) and therefore will say no more.

Maestro
Section 58 in the act specifies that you have to have prof of lawful entry and an ID, i.e passport.
Section 59 says that you can be detained if you don't have this document.
I'm sure these sections can and are used to immediately detain people who do not carry their passport, there seems to be enough history of cases proving this.
Laws are seldom specific, there is no law specifying that it is illegal to shoot someone in the head with a gun, still it's illegal.
But, Maestro's challenge was to find a law specifying that a fine has to be paid if you don't carry a passport at all times and I doubt very much that such a specific law exists. If all laws were that specific we would not need any lawyers
The risk of being locked up is bad enough to at least carry a copy of all relevant passport pages.

I think most car dealers would do this for you for a fee, would save you a lot of time.
The dealer I bought from does it for me. Many motor cycle dealers do the MC tax/insurance for anyone, not sure if they handle car tax/insurance as well.
-
In the case of a break down who do you call for help to fix/tow the car?
Looking for something around Pattaya but also if there is a nation wide service like a Thai AAA.
Service must be able to speak English.
-
The easiest would probably be to go to where you bought the car and ask them to do it for you, they will probably charge you a few baht for the trouble but it's worth it, they can do the insurance thing as well.

From following it seems you can be looked up if you don't have your passport. It's not specified that you need to have it with you at all times but can be interpreted as they can arrest you on the spot if you don't have it.

Never been there but they seem to offer what you are asking for.

Please ignore the above, as it will just take you on a loooong route back to Highway 3.
There are several ways to get to the 36 from Jomtien - all are much quicker than taking the Naklua route from Jomtien.
Take the Highway 3 (Sukhumvit) towards Sattahip. Turn left at...
1) traffic lights (into Hua Yai road - signposted route 331)
2) Ban Amphur, 7/11 on the corner (signposted for Phoenix Golf)
3) approx 2.5 km past Ban Amphur (signposted to Lakeside? vinyard)
All these roads (and others) take you to 'T' junctions with route 331, where you need to turn left (NOT right).
You will come to the junction of the 331 with the 36, where you need to join the Bangkok (north-bound) carriageway of the 36.
As soon as you have joined the 36 you need to take a U-turn onto the Rayong (south-bound) carriageway. The U-turn is upon you very quickly, so take care (or just carry on to the next one).
At the moment there are roadworks on the Hua Yai road, so the Phoenix Golf route is quickest. However, if you want a more scenic route (and brand new road surface) take the vinyard route, which is only 5 mins or so longer.
I just did the trip from Jomtien to Rayong using route 1 above and coming back on 36 and Sukhumvit.
Route 1 was 1.2 km shorter in distance but 15 minutes longer in time.
I guess that route 2 and 3 will be longer in both time and distance than route 1.

I know it's been asked before but does anyone know when we will know the final verdict on this case??

This all about filter is interesting, but like to know where can I let do a analysis of my water. Preferably in or near Udon Thani. I used water from a drilled well an before I buy a filter, I like to know "what" the filter have to remove. I asked already in some shops, selling this filters. But the answers are from "don't know" to "this filter removed all "..... or offer of a testkit for swimming pool (what check pH and clorine).
If anybody know, thank you in advance for the information.
As I said, tomorrow the whole filter system will be installed at my home free of charge.
As soon as it is installed, I will take a sample of the filtered and unfiltered water and bring it to a lab at the hospital for analyze.
If anyone is interested, I will publish the results here.
Any results from the test yet?

Found the place and 3 hours and 7000Baht later I had a new radiator installed.
For this kind of job you don't go to Nissan. You go the a local radiatorshop and you'll pay about 4'000 Baht for a new radator. Additional 500 Baht if its Automatic.
You are probably correct but I don't know any reputable local radiator shop.
The bill was 5,900 for the radiator, the labor cost was 2x175 Baht. Normally I would do this work myself but not to save 350Baht.
Using a local radiator shop could result in a copy or re-conditioned radiator, or even the use of a quick fix liquid in the radiator. A few thousand baht for peace of mind is ok for me

These people have a shop in Tukom in Pattaya and think they have a shop in Chiang Mai as well:
http://www.newpowerbattery.com
They sell and recondition batteries and adapters for laptops.

Anyone know where the Nissan service center is in Pattaya?

The price of the installation is a cost which needs to be done only once and is easily nullified in one year.
you haven't done your homework Coalminer. check prices of water delivered or purchased in supermarkets.
If you buy a system for 15,000Baht, change filters for 2000Baht per year, write off the system over 5 years and use 5 liters of drinking water per day your cost per liter is less than 3Baht, plus you don't have all the problems you have with bottled water
what problems pray tell?
As you can't see any troubles with this you probably have a wife taking care of this
The troubles I can see is to always having to make sure you have water at home, that extra trip to the supermarket just because you have run out of water is quite troublesome.
If you rely on small bottles you will have to carry a lot of extra weight every time you go shopping, depending of your mode of transport this can be very troublesome.
If you rely on big bottles you have to set up a delivery schedule and make sure you are at home when they deliver. You will probably have to decant into small bottles to keep in the fridge. It's a bit messy when you need water for cleaning fruits, vegetables and other things at the sink.
There are quite a few shop house operation making and delivering water of questionable standard using ill maintained equipment and non approved chemicals.
Bottled water leaves a big environmental footprint.
Just ask your wife if she would prefer to have drinking water on tap at the sink and cold drinking water and ice dispensed from the fridge without having to bother with anything, except for a yearly filter change.

A simple 3 filter system without a RO filter or UV will not clean the water from many things like bacteria and other impurities.
You need to have at least a UV system. RO gives the best result but is also the most expensive.

I guess the OP refers to a filter system hooked up to the normal city water system to turn your tap water to drinking water.
A ball park cost would be 15,000Baht installation and around 2000Baht per year in filters.
This is exactly what I'm referring to.
Thanks ZZZ
I have seen water filters (purifiers) ranging from 6,000 Baht to 20,000 Baht and more.
Which installation would be sufficient for a normal household (3 persons)?
Do you have a picture of the 15,000 Baht installation?
Does the filters need to be exchanged only once a year or is there a limit on the water flow trough the filters?
Also, the installation I have seen need to be supplied with a kind of "stones".
Is this necessary to get a good cleaning of the city water?
TIA
A typical RO system for about 15,000Baht would look like this and would be good enough for a normal household.
I have 4 filters plus the RO membrane on my unit and change the first filter, the particle filter, every 6 months or so. This filter is in a clear container so you can see when it gets really dirty. The other filters are changed once a year and the RO membrane can last 2-5 years depending on water quality in your area. All filters are easy to change by your self.
The filter will always keep the holding bottle filled automatically so there will always be water there when you need it. If you need a lot of water, like 10 liters, it will take a while as these filters are very slow but there are always about 3-4 liters in the holding bottle, ready for use, so I have never had any problems with this.
Not sure what the "stones" are but they are not required for this type of filter, probably for a sand sediment filter.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Stick with commercially available drinking water supplied in sealed containers. These companies have the apparatus to make thousands of gallons of drinking water, for your consumption at a very reasonable price.
here here, seems a lot of trouble to go to when sealed bottles & the bigger vessels are easily available for a few Bht.....even up country.
A lot of trouble
All you do is buy the system and have someone install it, if you can't do it you self, then end of trouble (except for yearly filter change).
Once it's installed all you have to do is open the tap and you have drinking water. If you have a fridge with ice and cold water dispenser you can pipe it in there as well for clean ice and cold drinking water. No trouble.
Trouble is to have to make sure you always have drinking water at home, carting it back from the super market or having to make sure you are at home when deliveries are due. Other troubles are having to buy ice, store bottles, and decanting from the big bottles to smaller for storage in fridge.
Yes, it is relatively expensive but definitely much less trouble than relying on bottled water
Tourist Visa And Re Entry Permit
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

If you enter Thailand on a single entry 60 day tourist visa can you get a re entry permit and leave the country for a week or two and then re enter on that same visa/re entry permit?
If you can, will the time outside Thailand count against the 60 days or will it be like you had been in Thailand since you entered the first time?
