  1. I've been looking at flights recently on that route - by using the mutistop option you can price a stay in phuket before flying onwards - doesn't cost any more.

I booked the flight already like I mentioned in the OP + it was a promotion flight so there was no choosing where to stay when coming back.

I went to THAI office today though and the girl made some note for the perth check-in for my reservation number so that I can leave the plane in Phuket. this was after confirming all kinds of ticket rules and couple of phone calls so I hope it works

  2. I'm gonna go ask this question tomorrow from the THAI office but I figured to find out some additional info if someone has any experience

I booked a round trip with THAI bkk-per-bkk and noticed on the way back there was a technical stop

I later learnt the stop takes place in phuket to (I guess) let out ppl who have booked only perth-phuket flight.

Do you think there are any problems for me to stay in phuket (as i live in phuket) and not go to bkk and then fly back which just feels a bit unnecessary.

  3. Hopefully the TR visas will be free again from 11 May as stated . ,. , at Phnom Phen . . . . .i will go 12 May . . , can confirm later . . .

Be careful what you wish for. The first time tourist visa became free (March last year) Phnom Phen immediately stopping issuing double entry tourist visas. The first double entry tourist visas I heard of out of there were issued after they started charging again.

If it was me I would go this week.

agree with tropo. last year I booked my flights to Phnom Penh when I read from thaivisa that they are issuing double entries. When I got there the free visa period had started and they were only issuing singles. I didn't go through any agents though.

  4. as you can only choose from the 100 mcd's in patong or the 2 in phuket town obviously the ones in phuket town will be cheaper

i've only eaten in the one in the big tesco and it is noticeably cheaper though as other have noted already you shouldn't drive from patong to the big tesco to find McD since you will pay the difference in prices in gasoline (if it not on your way obv :) )

  5. Don't forget, you must have a non-immigrant visa, too.

I got my thai motorbike license last november in phuket. I am in thailand on tourist visa

I had with me: a letter from immigration (certificate of residence i think), medical certificate and some copies from my passport.

took like 6 hours with the tests but no problems

  6. coming from saiyuan I ignore the red light turning left if the people coming from rawai towards chalong have the red light. i dont see any point waiting when the lane is empty. if they have green I wait the 20 seconds.

  7. My question is a similar. Arrived here on Australian passport and given 30 day stay. Need to stay for one extra week to catch cheap flight to Sri Lanka. Can I get an extension for a week, what are the alternatives? Applying for a Tourist visa?

    Many thanks

    Alan

well you can't apply for a tourist visa without leaving thailand.

you can get an extension for 7 days for 1900 baht. if you already have a flight out of thailand within that time period you should have no problems

  8. only reason i can think of for the lights is safety but do they really install lights because of that reason here?

i live on saiyuan and coming from the circle i obviously have to turn right often there and the wait is never that long even for cars that i see.

i think it is pretty dangerous though especially when turning right towards rawai when coming from saiyuan road because of the bad visibility

    lets see how they work...

  9. the restaurant was called casa della pasta or something like that before. i guess they changed owners or something.

they did change the guy baking the pizzas. i think the quality went down a bit after the change but it's still one of my first options (along with capannino, amalfi and m&m) for a pizza.

definitely worth a try atleast imo

  10. 2. leave the country and return for another 2 months. Then leave the country again for another 2 months.

as you have 2 entries you can only enter thailand once more

if you only plan is to stay in thailand as long as possible i would extend your current stay for another 30 days at immigration, then leave thailand and re-enter before the "enter before" date passes and get another 60 days (which you can extend for 30 days also)

  11. why not drive to a cambo border instead of going all the way to kl ?

he didn't say where he was staying.

if he is in phuket the easiest way to leave the country and come back fast is to take the morning airasia flight to KL. you only need to stay at the KL airport for two hours and they have a flight back to phuket. and they don't have visa fees entering malaysia. last time i did this it took 8 hours door to door (i live 45min from the airport by motorbike)

edit: rereading the post he actually did say he always flew back to bangkok

    my mistake

  12. Great! Thanks for the quick answer.

By the way - is there an issue if I apply (outside of Thailand, in one of the neigboring countries) for a Tourist Visa after having been in Thailand with a visa exemption (US passport, 30 days, entered by air). I am in Thailand now, but plan on travleling to Laos/KL/Singapore to get the Tourist Visa for 60-120 days as described above.

    Cheers,

no issue in this case. just go apply for a visa

  13. you only need to bring passport and some money if you don't want to worry about anything beforehand

there is a small shop behind the immigration office where you can make all the necessary copies for 3 baht each (the lady there knows which ones you need) and pictures (4 or 6 pictures for 140 baht). you need one picture for the extension

you can get the form from inside the office, after they take your application it only takes like 5mins to get your extension.

i went there today(thursday) around 2.30pm and it was almost empty

  14. All 2 Mbit customers of premier got a free upgrade to 3Mbit a ways back.. the 'old version' invoices used to be clear on what account but the new style ones are cryptic as to the actual package.

But interestingly your another person with a >3Mbit premier connection do you pay the 1090 (1166 with VAT) price or are you on the 4Mbit 1990 package ??

When i ordered this it was 2mbit and 1090+vat and i am still paying the same and yea it's been over 3mbit for a while

  15. I think a friend of mine is the same......

60 Day (Double Entry) Tourist Visa obtained 6/10/09 in Laos.

Entered Thailand 7/10/09 stamped in till 5th Dec.

Border run on 1/12/09 Return Thailand 2/12/09 stamped in till 30/1/10

I need to stay till 7th March. So If I leave on or before the 30/1/10 is it a border run turn around or do I require another Tourist Visa at the Thai Consulate?

    Thanks for your help.

double entry means 2 entries :)

he came to thailand on oct 7 and dec 2 so that's 2 entries

he can extend his 2nd entry for 30 more days which would get his permission of stay until ~29 february.

if he needs to stay until 7th of march he could just do a border land by air or land after that and get either 15days(when arriving by land without a visa) or 30 days (air, same deal)

would get him until the 7th of march that he wanted
