  1. 50 baht says next year it'll drop. But as you can't trust the numbers anyway, I've left 50 baht on my desk for anybody to pick up.

12.4 Million tourists? congratulations. Ok, What percentage are high spending tourist?

I mean those who can spend over $200 a day? I was spending $150 a day when

i used to come on 30 days holiday until few years back.

When i walk in sukhumvit, all i see these days are more, tattoos ,dreadlocks

    and muscles.

  2. Ok, well, I would like to vote for some other places,

but they are not in the vote.

BTW I had a really nice lunch (ordered breakfast) in Surin city today.

Yes it is a huge tourist attraction, in fact if you are looking at media statistics, try Surin. I think its one of the places the media tend to cover.

I am not voting for Surin, but I think there are many places here that hav'nt had a mention.

But yes, its dirty dry dowdy Issan.

Thanks for reminding me. I might ask to list it, though little late.

  3. California

Yes, what a f***ing behaviour towards customers, some members pay 4000 and others 2000 for the same membership! Unacceptable.

The best price available lately at sukhumvit branch seems to be around 800-900 a month for 1 year contract.

But at sukhumvit branch you're going to exercise (bodybuilding/free weights) at the basement, no window!

A question, can you tell me what is the best price you got at FITNESS FIRST for a one year contract? It seems more difficult to bargain with them (seems logic, california is the challenger).

Check silom branch it has veiw to out side from every floor. It's really huge,

and 3-4 times larger than sukhumvit branch, around 13,000 members and has

access to it from every route in BKK by both BTS and Subway.

Price, you can negotiate, and sure they will accept your price, when they

feel you are aware and not a dumb farang :o

  4. looks nice though I don't see any info on the bkk locations on that first link

I very well may check that out.

I'm paying about 2000 baht/month - for all locations.. I think it's something like 1800/month for one location.  (fitness first)

I think I may just give them a call :o

    Lita

    Hi Lita,

I feel that California fitness managment in Thailand seems to have

broken the contract with franchize company, since i saw newly opened

sukhumvit has been stablished under little differnet name?

No wonder if Thailand C.F have broken their promise and they have

been removed from the first link (it used to be there last year with pic

from silom brach) :D again, not sure what's real reason.

  5. Spend sometime looking around, even i say spend some time

in bars to gain some knowledge (Normal TG are totally different

than BGs) and while waiting, try all these, because they can help

you in building better relationship (aren't in any order):

1-Get used to eating thai food. 75% thais don't like farang food.

    2-Learn to speak thai.

3-Buy some books and learn more about thai culture and society.

4-Learn to copy their behaviours, you can't act like a farang, and be accepted.

5-Try to think and talk like a thai, most farangs don't have it.

6-Don't try to impress your wife or GF, financialy but socially, like visiting.

and maintaining good relation with her family and relatives, but don't

pay them. Ususally geniune Family are not needy for your money always.

7-Try to find a TG that has some education and never been in

    contact with foriegners.

8-If you have business or contact with thai friends, you might have

more chance to find one among or through them

9-Look around at big shopping malls like The mall, central, seacon at

LadPrao, Ramkhamheng, Bangkapi, srinakarin, .....These are Thai

nighbourhood where middle class thai live, you will see lot of woman

at these places, i can say almost more than any part of bangkok

Bangkapi has the highest woman Ratio in Bkk.

  6. Frankly, i wouldn't be spending more than 60-75,000Baht a month

maximum, but don't understand why do i need to make not less

than 125,000 Baht a month? May be this has to do somthing with

    returning home someday

I think you'll do more than fine with 60 to 75,000 Baht a month.

Except of course, if a girl takes 99% of it... :o:D

It will be just fine, and not more than fine. :D

    More votes please. Thanks

  7. I would go for Phuket :o

Are u a lady i assume from the pic? why your comments always

    looks biased?

Male or female has noting to do with my postings, biased ? thats a matter of opinion, I can have my opinion just like you, and I post them wheter you like or not.

I think i had to put those yellow smily face after my post.

    No offense meant.

If you read back this thread, even i want for phuket as my second

favorite place after bangkok. The word "Bias" doesn't mean true or

false, but an idea and not given any reason behind it.

Ok so we are still friends, no offence taken :D

    :D

    Need more votes. Thanks

  8. My buddy and I are trying to juggle a few nights in Phuket and Ko Phi Phi.  We're both Canadian guys in our upper 20s, looking for advice on the best nightlife spots for meeting (white) female tourists and/or backpackers.  Please save your comments on how we shouldn't be going to Thailand if we're looking for white girls.

Any sincere advise on parts of the islands to base ourselves, areas to go out in and even specific bars/clubs would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    James

Khao San Road in Bangkok has the finest white girls in all of Thailand. Purely high class females with an itch for obscure Canadian sex tourists. If that doesn't work out, try Pattani or Naritiwat in the far south of Thailand....loads of white girls can be found near the mosques and jungle training camps.

1-What they are doing near mosques and jungle trainging camp?

2-What they are doing in Pattani or Naritiwat? Isn't there supossed

to be muslims majority, Are they safe?

3-Please give me one effective technique how to meet up english

speaking backpacker girls in kao san road? I am not intersted

in Russian and east european girls? and What about kou panghan

    and kou samui? Thanks

  9. How exactly do you want to live?

Quite a few farang people live in Thailand with less than 20,000 Baht/month.

Quite a few expatriates live with more than 200,000 Baht/month.

    How much do YOU need?

I really don't know yet. I will come to know when i live in thailand

permanently, not as a toursit. I am comparing earning to where

    i live today.

Frankly, i wouldn't be spending more than 60-75,000Baht a month

maximum, but don't understand why do i need to make not less

  11. Yala, Narathiwat, Pattani, Songkhla and Hat Yai are getting less pricey.

These beautiful spots are very underrated, there is enormous potential, specially for attracting the more adventurous travellers. There are charming seaside resorts where one can find tranquility and relaxation, communities with the infrastructure for the more discerning and businessoriented expats are to be found in Hat Yai and port cituies like Songklah.

As someone who's spent the last five years in Hat Yai I fully agree with your comments. However, our friend is interested in somewhere that attracts tourists and given the recent unrest in the south I can't see many of them returning here. At present Songkhla province is relatively unaffected but I wouldn't bank on this continuing. IMHO their are plenty of more attractive alternatives.

Right, Thailand has some many beautifull places, but toursits don't go

there, simply because of less population and lack of infrustrature,..

  12. This poll more concentrated on places that attract tourist, because

i am trying to target toursit in future.  I have also leaved out bangkok

i am quite fimilier with this city. The downside about BKK is nothing to

do day time, except to work, and not much differs from some other

part of the worlds in some aspects.

Important criteria to look for is:

Healthy living, low cost of living, friendliness toward forigners,

    business oppourtunities, good facilities/infrutrcture.

Quite fascinating, I personally could never live in BKK.

FRIENDLINESS TOWARD FORIEGNERS IS INTERSETING AND DESERVES ITS OWN POLL.

    :o

Right, you can't live in Bkk, but do you consider why i did't

    have Bkk in this Poll?

Because Bkk is going to outnumber all these distination pure

and simple. At least 70% expat in Thailand live in Bkk.

  13. :o i think we all missing a point here!

yes you can live on 35-50,000 baht per month here, been there done that.

but is that really a life?

for me bangkok is my base and i like to travel around the region as much as possible, to enjoy its delights.

so got myself a portable business, now making over $15,000 per month, is that vulgair, ###### no...... the point is what is enough for one may not be enough for another!

    all i want is a life! :D

hahaha 15000 dollar a month thats even more than what bank directers earn.keep on dreaming.OO I get it.. now you sell your ass like a portable buisniss.and like to have the idea to have 15000 a month in ya pocket

I don't understand why some people have such a need to make such

    exaggerations.

$15k=600,000Bhat in Los in a month while roaming outdoor all the time, and

that being type of job like a vacationing :D:D

no exaggeration at all, even though i get around i still work 12-15 hours a day!

yes it took me 3 years to get there, but internet, consulting and trading got me there! try it you just need to begin somewhere.

btw i like to slow down soon and enjoy the delights here more!

you want a tip, try day trading, my swiss mate makes +/- $2-3,000 a week and lives in phuket! compared that with european living cost that's peanuts! :D

I am a daytrader, and i can tell you that to make $8k-$12k a month,

you need to be trading with at (be it your equity or margined money)

least $200K=8 Million Baht, and that requires a hhhellll of confident

    in your method.

I Doubt someone trading this large, would be Daytrading from pukhet,

as there isn't as reliable, fast DSL connectionas Bkk which required for

    day trading business.

With daytrading you have to be glued to the computer, and how come

don't let opportunities get away from you? Would you give little details

about Trading style like timeframes, holding periods, #trades per day,

    Profit target and stop losses?

  14. :o i think we all missing a point here!

  15. I figure I can live on 40,000 a month in Nakhonsawan. But I'm not going to retire from my present job and move their yet...cause I WANT 100,000 for my budget.

Thanks to Papa, DJ_Tom and Random Chances.

I can say almost 80% people have the same daily basic needs, rest

is luxery living. And these can be satisfied with 60,000 Baht maximum

Imagine, 2000 Baht a day. Would you spend that much EVERY SINGLE day.

would you go outside just everyday to spend money? Difinitly answer is: "NO"

If you are working you will have less time to spend money, if you are free

you will spend more money. Afterall, you will not go to Bars, dicsos..after

spending some years in thailand, you will find cheaper places, with same

qualities to stay, less farang foods, sticking to one girl if Normal TG, you

would be working probably, ...You will even afford good schooling for such

    schools

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Member "madsere":

There are even much cheaper alternatives, International School of Pattaya (ISP) around 300,000/year, Wuttichot and Satit Siriwhatever around 100,000/year.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

I mean anything above 60,000 Baht/month is more for self satisfaction and

go toward saving or luxery spending. It's actully good to have more & afford

better things, but not affording more, doesn't mean you shouldn't be living in Los

  16. Thanks & puming thread again, actually not much voters,

i am sure bangkok alone would have out numbered all distinations.

Or maybe not much visitor to other places compare to Bkk

My guess is, since majority expats (80%) in Los are around age 25-45,

prefer to live in Bkk, for Job reasons and more female partner choice,

    and more things to do.

And other 20% older or retired generation prefer Island or smaller

city like enviroments for healtier living. Question is, are there many

young expats choose to live in these places and do they out number

    older folks?

    Do you agree?

    Keep votes coming, thanks

i am so sure see a lot of older guys here, more like 35-60! :D

i like my base in bkk, and travel from there for 2-3 week spells at various resorts in australia, vietnam, bali, shinoukville, kl, singapore, and some of the islands on your poll, phuket, samui, samet, hue hin, etc. :o

hey my laptop and mobile is my office and $$$$, but do like the asian region best.

    :D

Do you consider 35-45 yo to be old? That means i am old already

    for your veiw?

Ok, would you share more about your Office and $$$ ? Are you a

    daytrader?
