  1. The highlight of the Pattaya Countdown was for me always the — Chang sponsored — DJ-set with a kind of "mobile bar" at the

beach across from Central Festival. ????

I don't know why, but unfortunately this great and well visited event disappeared in 2017 and was missed in 2018 also.  ????

Does anyone know if the Chang DJ-set this year take place again?

I ask because it would be the only reason for me to make my way through traffic chaos to Beach Road on Countdown.

I don't recall any immigration office requiring appointments to do a application.

You can do your extension application up to 30 days early.

I always thought the date on the stamp — in my case: "Extension of stay permitted up to 03. Jan 2020" — would also be the binding date on which you have to appear at immigration office for the next extension.

But the better if it isn't. ????

Thank you for the very helpful answer. ????

  3. January 3rd is the appointment to extend my visa for one year (Non Immigrant O - married with thai wife) at the immigration office Jomtien.

Unfortunately my wife and I would like to travel to Uthai Thani at the end of this year to celebrate with her family. We want to return on Sunday, January 5th.

What do you think: Would the responsible immigration officer in Pattaya accept it if we would come already on December 25th or 26th because of the extension of the annual visa or would she send us back home?

Has anyone ever done something like this and "independently moved an appointment for visa extension forward"?

Interesting ... I had understood it so far that the new rules will ONLY be applied to those who enter the country for the first time. I guess I was wrong. ????

  5. Hello,

I am German and I live in Pattaya since 2004. In March 2006 I made the Thai driving license for "private motorcycles" at the traffic office Banglamung. In 2011, I renewed the license for five years. In mid-June of this year I want to renew the driving license a second time.

Therefore I'm looking since days for informations what documents are needed for a second extension of the license and if I have to expect "new surprises" at the office (... test, survey, etc.).

Unfortunately the informations and tips on different websites doesn't match in all points and most of the sides were not up to date.

    Therefore I have some questions:

    1. Does anyone have a current list, which kind of application forms and documents for a second extension are currently required (in Banglamung)?

    2. Is it sufficient to apply the "Residence Certificate" one to two days before the visit of the traffic office, or could the editing take longer?

    3. Do I have to expect a new kind of survey and/or a computer-based test on the traffic office Banglamung for a second extension?

Thank you in advance for all informations and suggestions.

  6. "...A more controversial plan, not yet approved by the government, is the plan to impose an additional 20 baht on alcoholic drinks sold to foreigners at bars and clubs..."

Are you shure that this new plan will affect ONLY bars and clubs and NOT also restaurants or food stores?

I ask only because I will not support this discriminatory plan — which means in other words: if they really implement their plan, I will not visit bars and clubs any more.

I could life with this decision but it would be much more harder for me to stay also away from restaurants and food stores... :)

  7. ...i changed from the cheapo crap modem that maxnet gave to zyxel and it instantly doubled, they also ran a new line after that and it went up another 10% to 2048/1022 now, it was 1750/422 before changing the modem...

which kind of router did you get before from Maxcrement?

I did get three years ago a ZyXEL router with my Internet-contract from Maxcrement for free (...Typ: "Prestige 600 series")

  8. ...With Indy the ratio is as high as 30:1 which means you may be sharing that 3mb with 30 other users out the other side of the DSLAM, Premier its 5:1...

Yes, this is the official version they told us too.

But honestly I don't believe that. I think you have to share with much more than 30 users on Indy or 5 on Premier. :)

  9. ^ Ok Zen ...exactly 60 Km's west of the Pinklao bridge in an 'amphur muang'. As my line reads ...'west of BKK a litten bit'. Do you wanna drop in for a cup of tea?

PM me Lol :) you're welcome! :D time for bed now ...I must work (unfortunately) :D

Hmmm... I think some more concret informations about your new "TOT" connection could be helpful. :D

  10. ^Same exact situation as me. I changed to premier recently and it is finally workable, but certainly less than promised and I also only have the choice of TOT, which is not a choice, and opting for a CAT CDMA deal, with an outlay of 12,000 Baht - last option.

Not exactly the same situation — because you still have the CAT option. I don't have this option, because CAT can't (...or don't want) to connect us in our location in Pattaya.

So I can choose between "Maxcrement" and "TOT", which is like a choice between shit and shit. The question is only which shit is worse... :)

A last chance for me could be perhaps the solution which was suggested by "hughden" — a combination between "TOT" (for the lines) and "Ji net" (as provider).

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?s=...t&p=2892858

But I think this sounds very complicated, especially because "Ji net" (= "Jasmin") has no support in Pattaya. You have to clear everything with Bangkok.

  11. ...So for you TTT defenders out there ....think again...

I really think there are no TT&T defenders in this thread — only people who desperately looking for a minimum working internet connection.

If you get better results with your TOT platinum connection then please write it to us.

I did NOT change from Maxcrement Indy to Premier because I'm a great fan of TT&T, but because I did not see another possibility at time. Nearly all people I know told me that TOT is worst.

If this is a wrong information and TOT is better than TT&T then please tell us about your experiences. I would be the first one who would change, if I could get a better and even cheaper connection than with my Premier account.

  12. ...I switched to J-Net a couple of months and their service is far superior to Maxnet Premiere. Connection is more stable and faster (even though the published speed is slower). Best of all, when I do have to call their support desk they are really friendly and helpful, unlike the bunch at Maxnet...

I didn't know that "Ji-NET" is avaible in Pattaya (...Jomtien) :)
