Passport copies for retirement extension?
paahlman replied to proton's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It is. You are correct. Still they wanted to see original in old passport last time. I had a copy of the original which was sufficient. Well. They have different requirement at different times of the day it seems. -
Cost of having a house built?
paahlman replied to Gottsy's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
its is best to ask builder to quote construction including eletric and water and to add labour for installing kitchen , bathrooms, tiling, flooring etc in the quote. Go out and find the materials you want yourself on sale and deliver it to him or her. That way its more transparent and you get what you want. Do not do blue piping since they never glue them together correctly. Insist on ppr piping on at least all water in under preassure. It cost a little more, but nothing almost. Ppr is melted together. Use double pane glasses at least. rule of thumb.. one million should do it without any of the things mentioned.. Only concrete, piping and eletric. Specify exactly eletric points and piping before they start and follow it everyday. Insist on 4 inch for toilets and you avoid mostly most problems. This one mill should cover a standard house of 2 beds two baths - one floor. Roughly. -
Passport copies for retirement extension?
paahlman replied to proton's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The most difficult thing is when you do an extension and have had it for some years and every time they demand to see original non immigrant visa stamp. In my case its in an old passport and difficult to find. So no matter how many times you extend you have to always keep a copy of potentionally a 20 year old stamp. This should be in the computer but of course it never is. -

Yes.. And if one can navigate the treaties you save money. But it has to be deducted on the country you are borned in. IF a tax treaty exists. -

I guess it has to do with religion. Mostly buddhist vets will not do this.. Try to find a muslim or christian vet. Might be different.. However.. .It could be a general Thai thing. Not sure. -

Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports

Like aliexpress does already. Its paid by Aliexpress.. Not the customer.. Depending on which country the destination is. The tax is calculated into the price. When you accept and have paid. Its sent to you.. Ali gets the bill. -
No.. Actually not. It is required to punch in a thai ID to your own account. Not other accounts if you did not bring with you your ATM card. If you have the card you do not need ID. That said.. 15 years ago we could use the passport number, That is now over. I find it strange that they can not send you an sms or something or even better.. Request deposit in the bank app same way as you take out money and do the ID there.

Write an email to the ombudsman in the area. He or she has to take some kind of action. However.. If anything is done or can be done is anyones guess.

Never heard about that. and i have never shown one. I might be wrong if rules have changed of course.. Let me be specific. Not all go by the 800 000 rule. Some show papers guaranteeing pension for example. However. they can not possibly know why you are permittet to stay in the drive through or can they? Anyway.. Personally i have never in many years or ever been asked a bankbook. I can see they could do that if you sit down in immigration office somewhere. If i remember correctly you have to show no less than 400k after you are approved(possibly then by showing bangkbook on first 90 day report).. and 800 again from minimum 2 or 3(depending on first or second excemption) months before re applying.

Not sure, but i have heard the question before and checked.. I think you need an IDP attached to the driving licence no matter what country it is from. About converting it is the same. -
Driving Licence Renewal - Certificate of Residency - Problems

Well.. In the worst case.. check into a hotel for one night and obtain certificate from that. Tell hotel to print out the registration of address. Of course its nonsense but its within the law. -
