  1. Interestingly "my vacations" who sell Etihad flights from their London office, are advertising availability on 3rd Jan at £700 each from Bangkok to London, still a lot of money and might not help you, but shows what a rip off Opodo is.

Have you considered asking UK Visas in Bangkok if they could alter the dates on the visa, it's a long shot and it would cost, but might be worth a go.

  2. Try this address and phone number, I think it's worth explaining your predicament and throwing yourself at their mercy, I did the same at the Thai office a few years ago. I am sure they will find you a seat, though your good lady may have to wait a few days.

    Good luck

  3. I have a new 12Call number, and am being bombarded with calls originating from Taiwan, these calls come 24 hours a day, from numbers such as +886266404588 and +88626414688, I answered the first couple and there was no one there, now I ignore but it's still a pain.

I suspect this is some sort of scam though for the life of me I don't know what. Has anyone else experienced this, or even know what is behind it, and most importantly can I stop it without changing my number.

    Cheers

  4. Stopped off in Hua Hin on Monday, as a previous resident of Hua Hin I was really shocked how quiet it was. Spent a while walking round the night market, the beach road and even Soi Bintaban, most of the bars and restaurants were deserted, surely at this time of the year they should have been packed. This might be good for visitors seeking a seat at their favourite establishment, but how long will they survive. I noticed that there were a fair number of bars for sale, and the staff in the establishments looked bored to tears.

I noticed that there were a fair number of rooms for rent in the sub 1000 Baht price range, though the Hilton, whilst also deserted, were still asking over 5000 Baht for a walk in rate. I actually booked into Buffalo Bills Tavern on the beach road, had a great room at a more than fair price, with a massive balcony and sea view. The included breakfast saved me even more, as I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day.

  5. I am going to the Hard Rock Hotel for the new year, yes I know, I am looking to extend over the weekend.

Hard Rock are offering a "special price of 4300 Baht ++", can anyone recommend a decent hotel that, in view of the current problems have dropped their prices after the holiday, preferably in a nearby location.

    Thanks

  6. My email account has been accessed and taken over by someone who has composed and sent emails in my name, the owners of the email site have told me that they know my account was accessed by a third party but will only pass on the evidence to a law enforcement agency, which is understandable.

Has anyone had any experience in involving the Thai police in this type of activity, I suppose I really need to know if I am just wasting my time thinking that they would be interested.
