  1. If it was a serious part of your business I would advise to get a pro to set it up (my work) but given your niche and goals...go with diy free.

Wordpress is great and the open version can do anything with the right developer, but wordpress.com is free and a good chunk of the flexibility.

Visit wordpress.com and signup and will have a site made in minutes.

Browse the free themes for something relevant and then add your story step by step under the post area. Blog complete.

  2. Not specifically working on but could be interested in sharing thoughts and experimenting on the oculus.

Not sure where you are based but Im Pattaya way, soon to be working in the 2nd coworking space here.

Personally development in these areas has been leaning more ar than vr (non gamer) but interested in how both will develop and evolve.

  3. is it HD at least? blink.png

Be hard to buy a camera that isnt H264 or better now

H264 isnt hd.... I could give you a 1px square video in h264!

As for everyone calculating cost per camera, thats like saying 1 million baht for 4 wheels is crazy and forgetting the rest of the car that comes with it.

50 boats means at least 50 recording systems too, plus possibly water tight containers for said system, plus maybe mobile networking to relay streams to a central location on land...maybe not but should if they expect video to be useful in an emergency.

And those lighthouse cams with heat tracking and 2km zoom...not looked for those before but 300k sounds on the cheap side!

Fixing existing cams could be considered a priority and maybe rightly so, but would have 0% impact on todays public priority in "being world leaders in maritime safety, arent we so great...wait what were we doing..."

But fully agree this budget is a little crazy and could certainly be better spent in different ways with lower kickbacks...but the pessimists here dont have time for objective analysis.

  4. Cs loxinfo is one of the oldest providers from the dialup days.

Not seen that name in ages.

Not sure offhand if they have been under a different name since broadband or not, 3bb is owned by the older provider previously called jasmine.

  5. DTAC will have a very limited bandwidth, typically 3GB or so for a low price.

Webpages on a mobile are typically lower bandwidth than those delivered to a PC.

So running both a mobile and a desktop on a mobile package will run through your package quickly.

Typically mobile packages are unlimited, but after your allowance they go to 2G speeds where you will be better walking to Singapore than waiting for pages load load.

Add to that the battery drain that running a wifi hotspot on a phone draws and your phone will be out of power and internet off in an hour.

Or charge your phone 24/7 and kill the battery in a few months.

In summary, wifi from landline will be a significantly superior experience all round.

Backup ok, but as primary usage you had better only check your emails once or twice a month.

  6. you carry your phone in your pocket (which also will tell you the time) and use it via another gadget strapped to your wrist ......

    WHY ?

You pull your phone out of your pocket, turn on the screen, unlock it, see that the beep was an unimportant message, return phone to pocket... WHY?

To the op...I have used a pebble for over a year and will have a preordered pebble time steel once it leaves the factory.

Never spoken to my wrist, original pebble cant and dont plan to on new one.

Notifications and simplifying simple tasks are key on a smartwatch. Trying to do things that are better done on different devices is pointless.

  7. 100 range ip is carrier grade nat, recent thread on here about it with true.

If you are stuck with it then only solution would be a vpn...port forwarding impossible on carrier grade nat.

However the thread about true said their support can fix it though customer service know nothing...

Basically the issue is ipv4 addresses are a rare and limited commodity now so isps need to either pay a lot or take alternative routes to get new customers online...but they do still have ips so if you complain could get a normal home user moved instead who wouldnt even notice.

I manage several cams on 3bb and use 3bb at work and home and not observed this yet, hope its not the case....please report back your findings.

  8. That is likely a faulty cable looping back.

Yesterday had a similar shock where a tester returned positive on 3 pairs even though the return end wasnt attached, a camera was!

Would chop or recrimp the cables with odd results.

  9. Can people with varying packages please report their actual international speeds.

Had a report of 50Mb/20 package hitting 16Mb/6Mb, sounds quite typical and alright.

Big question - does the 30Mb package get slower international and does the 100Mb package get faster?

  10. Routers going one to the next wont help.

Best results will be a single powerful router connected to your internet connection and then a single cat6 ethernet cable to each remote wireless access point.

Check the wifi channels to minimise interference with each other and neighbours.

No cables over 100m and if needing longer join with a switch or piggyback off one of the access points for the final leg.

Run opensource tomato or ddwrt on the routers and access points for increased flexibility.

High power omni directional antennas typically best for buildings unless you want to fill a single blind spot from a distance then get directional.

Signal boosters are convenient but never good for performance and will struggle if multiple hops.

However all of that is for your internal network which will at best be equal to your main internet connection...hows that when you are plugged in directly by cable? If no good then need to start there.

  11. Cant remember the names but believe there are already some local startups preparing to enter the market.

Netflix themselves may struggle with thai language and culture but someone will make it work....demand certainly with expats, tourists a little. Thais like a lot of the content but most not used to paying full price for content! Copyright tollerence will scare some rights holders...

Ad supported free entry level could pull it off here.

  12. I understand your need to avoid too much shade but surely a partial shade would be the perfect.

Shade at one end lowers temp and reduces sunburn risks for farrang. Open at the other end pleases the sunbathers.

One time cost rather than tremendous running costs for many cooling solutions.

Also, this is Thailand... most Thais will go to great lengths to avoid sun and stay light skinned so your sunbathing claim is not fully correct.

Positioned right the roof would cool enough water and give plenty of sunny and shaded seating for people to choose.

  13. Think its the leonics cleanline range that has worked pretty well for me.

Would steer clear of 2nd hand unless got replacable batteries, the battery do have very limited lifespan and many end in the bin when that happens.

Amount of devices you power makes a huge difference
