  1. Nothing has changed; same address, same passport and I haven't been out of the country.

However, on checking the receipt of my last 90 day report, which I dutifully attached to the last page of my passport, I've just noticed a mistake. I can't understand how I missed the mistake when I printed the receipt.

Instead of my name shown as (example only), 'Peter William Jones', the receipt shows 'Peter Jones William'. My July report receipt, which I saved on my computer's hard drive, correctly shows 'Peter William Jones'.

Very strange and maybe the reason why my current online report won't process.

Given name & middle name are not mandatory fields. Better only to provide mandatory information IMHO.

  2. They want money,

Ask for a receipt and take their photo.

Then complain to the generals corruption line.

Yes, i though of that, but you know like others, they are a law unto themselves.

They have you by the b*lls. One is in a no win situation with corrupt officials.

If I refuse then they could easily block my visa as they make up their own rules as they go along.

Not a nice situation to be in but what can one do. Nowt

I think you have just got to bite the bullet this time.

When i applied for the retirement extension the IO said it would be a one off visit and future extensions (retirement) would not require a new visit. He said if I changed back to marriage then we would get another visit. But whether this is what happens in reality, well I guess I'll find out next year when I apply for my retirement extension once more.

  3. Have been informed of the day that members of the immigration office will be visiting me at the house.

Told that I have to ensure Head of Village is in attendance, which means I will have to pay something to him.

plus I have to pay for petrol, no doubt not less than 500Bt as I live a long way away from Kap Choeng.

So all told having now to make two journeys in a month, the visa fee, plus pay these other expenses, it will cost me each year almost 4,000B for my visa extension.

Do others who require a visit by immigration, normally only for an extension to a marraige visa, required to pay these extra costs.

I got a home visit from KCI last week for my retirement extension. It was all over in 20 minutes. No "expenses" were asked for. I live 130 Km from Kap Choeng. The Puyai and another witness were questioned and the IO recorded details on his laptop, then printed affidavits which both witnesses had to sign. The IOs also copied the witnesses ID cards & blue house books. I did nothing except exchange pleasantries with the IOs. All very painless, carried out by polite & professional staff.

My last extension was on the basis of marriage and again I was not asked for any expenses when they visited me.

  4. Pathetic. It just does not work.

It either has to work for everyone or none at all.

Unless they can get it to work for everyone they should scrap it

Why should it be scrapped just because YOU can't use the system ?

Surely if some people (myself included) are lucky enough to be able to successfully report online then that's got to be an improvement over the old system of travelling in person (250Km round trip in my case) to the office to do the report? My office doesn't accept postal reports....It's still an indirect improvement for you as the number of people attending your office will be less than it was before due to the online reporting system

  5. If there's a change in the reason for extension of stay, it'll be from the day of the change of reason. (At least, that was my experience, changing from Investment to Retirement.)

That is because the existing extension is cancelled on that date in order for you to apply for the new extension.

Didn't happen to me when Korat was my designated office. I changed from retirement to marriage and the date of expiry of my retirement extension was the date that my marriage extension commenced. However, when Buriram residents were re-designated to Kap Choeng, I lost 28 days when I changed from marriage back to retirement and then I lost time again when I changed from retirement back to marriage....

  6. In Chiang Mai, Imm. has been known to call people who have problems, like no TM30 on file and tell them they can't report by mail and because of poor English language skills, the message is "heard" as "no more reporting by mail, you have to come and report in person". And then the rumor is started that Chiang Mai has stopped accepting 90 day reports by mail.

Also, in Chiang Mai there is a story, don't know if it's true, that you have to report in person if it's your first report after having been out of the country.

So, perhaps there is just a problem with this one specific report being mailed and not all 90 day reports in the future.

I think it depends on the individual office as to whether they accept mail in reports. Also, my office (Kap Choeng) does not require a report in person after leaving & re-entering the Kingdom. I left & re-entered the Kingdon in March this year and have only done online 90 day reports (3 of them) since then.

  7. Korat Immigration does not allow mail reporting and they are 30 kms out of Korat. I forget the name of the town offhand, Don Chan? but it is a hassle. Unless they have changed their rules recently.

Korat office is at Dan Kwien also known as the Pottery Village. Kap Choeng also does not accept postal 90 day reporting. However now that I can use online 90 day reporting it's less of a pain in the a@se as a report in person means a 250Km round trip for me....

  8. Just to clarify I've never submitted a TM 30 form in 18 years here ( my bad) so when I do my marriage extension at Khon Kaen in a couple of weeks should I take a completed one with extra copies of my wife's ID and tabien ban, hand it in if they ask for it and suck it up and pay a fine?

    Cheers.

Your situation is similar to mine except I have only been here since 2009. My missus has never completed a TM30 and I've never completed a TM28.

I've left and re-entered the kingdom a few times and have stayed in hotels outside my home province dozens of times. I've just applied for a one year extension of my permission to stay based on retirement last week and although my passport was scrutinized by 3 immigration officers, no one mentioned anything about TM28 / TM30. I had a completed TM30 + passport copy + wife's ID + Tabbien Baan copies ready just in case but it was never asked for. Different story for a mate of mine who applied for his first one year extension about six weeks ago at the same office....his G/F was fined 800 baht because she hadn't filled out a TM30. You can't play it on your fiddle.....

  9. Yes, correct URL. I tried again going through the main IMM site and the online tab. Had to overide the certificate issue. Completed all the details. Keyed in the CAPTCHA numbers. Received green verified, but then the notice that I need to contact my local immigration office. I completed online OK last time on 8 June 2015, (I've been away since). i have the same passport and address details. Bah <deleted> humbug.

My understanding is that if you have been out of country you have to file your 1st 90 day report in person when you return to put you back in the system.

I do not believe that is correct Tywais, I left the country and did my 90 day report online successfully when I returned, no problem.

    +1

  10. Also an extension of stay based on marriage is no problem and quite easy to do.

It means more work for them and that is why they push you towards the retirement option.

Aeeiiiii, not true.... there is a hell lot of more stuff to fulfill with an marriage extension.... For BOTH parties,

THAT is why they are pushing towards the retirement-extension of course. Fully understandable.

    Glegolo

I know for a fact that the marriage option is no big deal.

Been doing it myself for years.

Less work for Immigration. That is why they push it.

You hit the nail on the head exactly my man....

What a load of crap. If you define a a few extra requirements as "a hell lot of more stuff" then you have obviously never had to do anything really difficult in your life.....The reason I first applied for an extension based on marriage was I read posts on TV by people like yourself who said it was really difficult, so I decided to find out for myself. "Shock Horror".... it wasn't difficult at all...

  12. I've been living at our lasses house since August 2009 and she has never submitted a TM30 to immigration....

You're probably fine until you get caught, if that ever happens.

I don't know why one would even tempt the Thai government to make an issue of what I'm doing. I just report as I'm asked to report on what form they want me to use. Actually the Missus does all the paperwork as a 90 day report can be done by proxy.

I just show up for the annual permission of my retirement visa extension. Then I just sit back and come forward when I'm called to sign whatever I need to sign and I pay the THB 1,900.

    Get caught for doing what?????

I report my address every 90 days to immigration and have never had a problem....

When I renew my extension of stay annually, I use our lasses house book and her ID card as proof of where I live....

Our lass always comes with me to immigration and we have never been asked for the TM30....

Another example of an "expert" who doesn't know what he is talking about....

You are the one mistaken. Just because you have never been asked or are totally ignorant as to Thai Immigration requirements does not change the fact that a TM 30 is required and Immigration officers may ask for proof of submission. I am living proof they do this and fine the responsible person if not complied with. My wife had to pay 2000 TB for failing to submit a TM 30 as required. This was caught when I applied for our first extension of stay at Chaeng Wattana. Ignorance is no excuse for failing to meet legal duties.

I am fully aware of the immigration laws....and the fact that they are not all strictly enforced by all offices.

After 6 back to back one year extensions no one has ever mentioned TM30 and I never provide anything that is not asked for.

Maybe they will ask for one next time I apply to extend my permission to stay...then again maybe they won't.

  13. Visa exemtion means you don't have a visa. So how can you extend it?

Im no expert but im pretty sure you need to leave and come back.

My understanding is that is you go out by land, when you come back you get another 30 visa exempt. Most nationalities get 15 days only if they come back by land at a border, but nationals from G8 countries get 30 days. UK is a G8 country

It's the permission to stay in the Kingdom which is extended
