Local importers already pay taxes on what they import and sell on for profit, they affect the local producers as competition.
This tax only affects private individuals buying singular cheap items from the likes of Lazada or Shopee
an item under the 1,500 baht mark.
It will likely also affect other items such as personal iHerb health supplements for which import duty is already paid (if >THB1,500 orders), in that apart from the import duty, an extra 7% VAT will now be required to be paid.

I previously used this for my Non O from HCMC, which was accepted without question.

Indeed, however in the year-to-date in 2024 surprisingly the Antipodean's haven't even made it into the top 10 of the Hoogans-in-Thailand league table.

etc
And that is just what is reported, it is probably 100 times worse.
I have to say this entitled behavior by my fellow countrymen is very embarrassing for me.
Calm down old chap...the Brits are currently ranking only 3rd place in the Hooligans-in-Thailand league table.

Recently she's been selling food outside Villa Market / Au Bon Pain in K-Village, Bangkok. She's been there the last few times I've visited K Village, and the food was okay.

On another occasion, I thought I had a stroke. I ended up spending the day in a hospital, but they couldn’t find any evidence whatsoever of any kind of stroke.
What symptoms did you have back then to think you had a stroke?

Any ideas of where and how I could take such a test in English by a qualified person please? I would happily volunteer if a researcher needed me for a study or any other way that I could be tested that would not be prohibitively costly.
I was identified as having a spectrum disorder in my late 50's and then looked into obtaining a more thorough diagnosis at the well-regarded Manorom Hospital in Bangkok:
https://www.manarom.com/adult_eng.html
Although it was quite a revelation, I decided not to go through with the full diagnosis as there was little to be gained (in Thailand) by having the diagnosis verified at my age being post-career and semi-retired, and I had managed to stumble through school and university and an international career with a large MNC through masking techniques rather than prescription drugs. Accepting and understanding my trigger points including avoiding certain places and people allows me to get by. Knowing of the diagnosis has brought a lot of sense and understanding as to why certain things seemed to happen to me (and not to most others) which in itself was quite an epiphany and helpful in moving forward with a more positive attitude.

Thai banks will likely face increased competition from global counterparts, who are also keen on expanding their footprint in the region.
Perhaps, although Citibank, HSBC and Standard Chartered have each retreated and downsized their retail banking footprint in ASEAN in recent years.

looking for a new hotel with great swimmingpool, good fitness center, and relative good location close to restaurants. Useally we stay Sukhumvit close to Terminal 21

Grande Centrepoint at T21 seems to tick all your boxes although it's not new, about 12 years old. I've previously used the gym and pool there which was well equipped.

In my car I always keep the air vents closed in the hope that less outside air will permeate into the cabin, and on days of high PM2.5 I connect an Electrolux personal air purifier to the USB socket in the car. Although I don't have a portable air quality measuring device to check, it does provide a degree of peace of mind, and as @CharlieHwrote above - it's a case of something is better than nothing.

Any suggestions for a dermatologist in Bangkok?
Dr Netrnapa Youngrod. She works Friday/Sunday at Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok. I saw her last month for a skin cancer check and eczema. Thorough and the best dermatologist I've seen in over 30 years. I had previously gone to Samitivej in Sukhumvit Soi 49 for a skin check and was quite disappointed by the nonchalant attitude of the dermatologist there.

1) Is the audit made from government represantatives or are those private companies that work for the government?
2) Is the rate for the audit always the same? What factors are responsible for calculating the audit rate? If its done by private companies i assume there are differences in rate?
The annual audit is conducted by licensed CPAs, who are either employed by an Audit & Accounting firm or are sole practitioners. They don't work for the government. They are supposed to be independent. following the audit they submit the finalised annual audited financial statements to the DBD, and the accountant would file them with the Revenue Dept.
For a smaller SME with only a moderate sales turnover, the audit fee is typically around 30,000 baht.

Whilst the top 10 countries in the GOI rankings this year are Denmark, Sweden, Finland, the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Norway and Ireland. The highest Asian country on the list is Singapore, in 14th place, while Japan is in 16th place.

That's interesting about Atorvastatin causing Creatinine to go through the roof.
Indeed. My cardiologist increased my Atorvastatin dose from 10mg to 20 mg, and shortly thereafter my creatinine level also increased to the higher end of the acceptable range (similar to the OP).
However, my online research indicated no such link. But looking back then I recall that my cardiologist also diagnosed that I had a Vit D deficiency. So I took a health supplement to correct that (and my Vit D levels went from 16 to 61), and I read online that Vit D can increase creatinine levels. I've been drinking 3L of water per day but don't seem to be able to reduce the creatinine level (and I prefer to now keep my Vit D level above 50).

If it's your new (own) company that will be paying the SSO on your behalf in the future (rather than you personally), then the SSO staff would be saying no because directors are generally ineligible for SSO payments.

& the GOM from the famed Grumpy old man thread…
I went to Emporium for morning coffee at the Oriental Cafe for weeks, sitting in every chair in the hopes of a thrilling encounter !!! 🫣
I sighted the GOM a few times sitting in his favourite seat hogging the newspaper (the one that cannot be named).
However, following the Emporium renovation and relocation of the Oriental Cafe I never saw him again. No doubt profound disappointment with the layout of the new Oriental Cafe. (Mr. Toad used to keep track of him almost like an obsession although he hasn't been seen on the forum for many years.)

Has anyone ever tried to set up a meet up for expats living in BKK.
Within the ASEAN Now community (or back when it was then known as Thai Visa) there were a couple of BKK gatherings but that was going back about 14 years ago (with no official gatherings in more recent years that I'm aware of).
Back then they were held in the Huntsman Pub in the Landmark Hotel basement, and roughly about 20 or so members participated.
Outside of the ASEAN Now community there are many and they occur frequently (including business group like chambers of commerce, and FB/Twitter groups etc).

At my condo they charge penalty rates to delinquent owners after the Common Area Fees are more than 30 days past due, and they then cut off the water after the fees are more than 6 months overdue. It's written in our Condo's By-Laws.
With regard to electricity, that's handled by the MEA, not the Condo Juristic Office.

So his girlfriend who didn't invest any money to start up the bar. But is the legal owner as it is in her name is blackmailing him. Telling him if you don't pay me 200,000. Or 300,00 baht I will take the whole thing.
There was a post on FB last week from one of the bar patrons who had just visited the bar the night before...he reported that the bar was still operating, the ex-TGF was working there, but had apparently sold it to a new owner for 1MB and she was then re-employed by the new owner. Can't see any $ flowing through to Greg Palmer now...needs to write it off as a bad venture and move on.

The cows I've seen north and south look half starved, the fattened calf must be somewhere.
There are several large modern cattle farms in Sakhon Nakon (Thai French), Pakchong (Chokchai), and Rayong (Max Beef).

Jonny, from "Jonny There's Something Happening Youtube channel" did a video a while back on having botox administered by Dr Donna at Medconsult Clinic on Sukhumvit 39 - not too plush so it might suit your requirements.

As the account went past due for less than 30 days there shouldn't be any drama at all, and a 2 week late payment can easily be explained as an oversight whilst traveling etc. given your wife's previous excellent ayment record.
A late payment history is noted in the National Credit Bureau records usually up to 24 months. If your wife's late payment was made before the end of the month, then this would be likely to show up on the NCB report under the Overdue Amount column.
