  1. I was in Siem Reap a couple of weeks ago, and most of the restaurant/bars in Pub Street appeared to be open and the area was quite lively (on a Saturday evening). The Hard Rock Cafe on the other side of the river appears to be closed indefinitely.

There seems to be far more tuk tuk drivers than tourists at present though.

Guys of any age want pretty (healthy) young girls.

    Girls want guys with resources.

    That's nature.

The beauty of Thailand is that men and women still accept these facts and don't pretend otherwise.

Additionally, the demographics in Thailand whereby the proportion of females far exceeds that of males is an added bonus.

Where did you get your new passport? Here from your embassy or in your home country?

I think it will be different if you left the country showing both passports and then returning with both of them.

I received my new passport from the embassy in Bangkok in June, I then flew out to Phnom Penh at end of July (but haven't been back to the passport issuing country for a few years now).

There is no difference. They are the same and correct wording is a visa exempt entry.

There is no limit for visa exempt entries by air. By land they are limited to 2 per calendar year.

You can extend a 30 day visa exempt entry for a 30 days at a immigration office.

If married to a Thai, could the 30 day visa exempt entry be extended for 60 days (instead of 30 days) for the purpose of seeing Thai family?

To update the Australian IMMI system she needs to obtain good quality scan of passport cover page and the photo page ... this is clear to her but she's having difficulty with the concept of getting those two items certified as 'true copies'.

Nothing needs translation - simply stamped or signed in English as being 'true copies'.

I had to do this for my wife 4 years ago. Back then the IMMI system accepted "Self Certified True Copies" so getting a copy notarised was not necessary. After uploading the scanned copies into the system she subsequently received an email from DFAT confirming that the validity of the 3 years visa had been transferred to her new Thai PP. We travelled to Australia a couple of months later under her new PP and there were no problems.

Lao PDR today (Sat 7th May 2022) announced a full re-opening, advising that fully vaccinated foreigners or Lao citizens carrying a vaccination certificate may enter Laos without any screening or testing for Covid-19 when arriving by land, air, or water. Non-vaccinated citizens of Laos, foreign citizens, or residents aged 12 years and over must take a Rapid Antigen Test (ATK) at least 48 hours prior to departure and present the results upon arrival.

    Interesting.

I'm considering pp renewal at Oz embassy Bangkok.

    I checked appointment today.

    First available was May 31.

Also this from Oz embassy web page.

"You should allow up to 6 weeks to receive a passport."

On top of that recent news articles  in Australia of obtaining pp there has blown out to many weeks.

The suggestion being easier international travel.

    Screenshot shows first available appointment.

My Aust PP expires in Oct this year, and my annual extension at the end of July this year. I was planning to apply for a new PP later next month, but was unaware of the long waiting times for an appointment just to lodge the application.

So I just checked the embassy website (at 10:30am this morning) to make a booking and I was surprised that the earliest appointment that the system offered wasn't too bad at just 2.5 weeks (Monday 9th May). It seems that their booking system is playing silly buggers given the inconsistency that some members have recently experienced.

  9. My doc in Bangkok recently prescribed Pletaal pills (Cilostazol) for a blood circulation issue (recurring blue toe syndrome) that I experienced earlier this year. I discovered today that Boots Pharmacy just increased the price to 300 baht per blister strip (10 pills) which only lasts 5 days.

So I'm wondering wether any members or moderators could suggest a cheaper generic alternative available in Thailand.

    Thanks

I did Moderna booster after 2 x AZ. AZ had no side effects for me but was a bit light headed for an hour after the Moderna, and my arm was sore as hell for a couple of days.

My biggest surprise was there was only me and three other people for the twenty minutes I was in the hospital (medP). If I had known it was so easy I would have done it earlier.

Was the Moderna booster free there (at MedPark?) or did they charge for it; and were you required to make a booking or did you simply walk in?

People are tending to use these terms interchangably.

What is used, is propofol IV.  Which is both an anesthetic and a sedative.

Thanks for clarifying. My bill referred to it as just "moderate sedation".

Does anyone have recommendations for hospitals to have this procedure done?

I had my first colonoscopy done at Samitivej Sukhumvit earlier this month, following some symptoms experienced for a few weeks prior. It ended up costing me a bit more than I expected (more than 30K), but I was very happy with Dr Nathayut (Director of their Digestive Institute), and the nursing staff. The procedure it self took about 45 min but felt like only 10 min due to the anesthesia. He removed one benign polyp and noticed a bit of diverticulosis as well.

By the way, prior to this my only other adult hospital experience to date had been at Mt Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for kidney stone & renal cysts 15 years ago. The nursing and overall service there was appalling compared with the caring and informative experience at Samitivej in Thailand.
