It is not exactly accurate to say that Thailand has no child support laws for children born out of wedlock.

The legal framework allows an unmarried mother to file a paternity case against the alleged father.

Should we understand that these actions can be taken against a foreigner, alleging he is the father, him being forced to submit to a DNA test administered by Thai people, upon a result determining he is the father, an order of child support? Seems strange Thailand could enforce such a thing against as I say, a non citizen. God Bless You and OO.

  2. Plenty of availability in the general area. While it's not really a "low season" as far as Soi Bouikow goes, they have finally found their niche, it isn't crowded outside of normal 5-7pm traffic.

As you surely know, have him book a place on a daily for three or four nights and just look around.

Prices range from 2500 Baht a month up. Security deposits not really an issue, if they want anything beyond 2-3000.Baht give it a miss. There are no "leases" in the area and price range desired. Long term generally means a month. Very easy to find rooms with adjacent food vendors or restaurants. A 7/11 or Family Mart hardly ever beyond 200 meters from any place. Food markets have sprung up as well and are open daily for fresh vegetables and food to go. Supermarket on Pattaya Klang(Big C Extra) and grocery on Pattaya Tai(Friendship). On the low end you might not have AC or a fridge provided, basic furniture, no TV. A little higher up the scale and fully furnished including WIFI is the norm. I'd guess that at 6-8000Baht you are in the big time with weekly cleaning.

Cheers mate and God Bless You and Him. OO.

If it is a prostitute, you have nothing to worry about. Fortunately, Thailand does not provide child support laws for children born outside of marriage, in an effort to strenghten families. She's on her own. If she asks money, it is entirely up to you whether you want to be "jai dee" and help or, or tell her to shove it where I'm thinking. In any case, nobody can force you to pay.

The fact you aren't married to her doesn't equate to her being a prostitute. However, in an instance where, well never mind. Thanks for your civil post, quite a pleasure to read vs. some of the other childlike remarks. Her last sms said "consult police" and "tell work you" so the matter has evolved to something less than mature adults discussing options. God Bless You and OO.

...and again Mr Mangosteem..God bless you

...but if you put into google exactly what you are looking for  ie  'pre natal DNA testing India'  I am sure  there are testing there at afforable prices, especially the southern cities  ie 'prenatal DNA testing Chennai'

It is hard especially in Thailand to deny pleasures of the flesh, I agree, but as I travel through soi6, valley of death I say 'get thee behind me Satan:....and it works ..I do

I don't plan to fly to Chennai with a much younger Thai lady in tow for this purpose. Thanks for the suggestion. I doubt I'd have any more faith in the commercial "medical" services there than I do here in Thailand. Chennai looks boring otherwise as well. No waterfalls or temples or Disney parks. As for Soi 6, an occasional ride down same yields some very stunning sights. I get the sense of again a very commercial aspect to it all. The context of my inquiry however involves a real relationship, not to be confused with that "short time" area, if that makes sense? God Bless You mate and OO.

Next. Maybe you'll come up with something valid?

No bargirl has 1000. Baht in her wallet/purse/pocket/hair/sock/shoe/etc.. They never want to give me change for a 1000. Baht or even for 100. Baht note, so I'm forced to always have proper change. It is theft if the customer takes it from her either while she's in the shower or by force. The heck with these sorts, hope they stay in the UK next winter. God Bless You and OO.

You've misinformed in equating tourist police with farang police. Nor are there any farang shown in the pics, far as I can see.

So you are enlightening me and the rest of Pattaya to an unknown fact that there are Thai police officers assigned to the "tourist police" division, a division which also includes gusto filled, failed at life, farang's in police outfits assisting in traffic stops harassing other farangs who just want to be left alone in the Kingdom and don't want to interact with some numskull with a "badge" thinking he's a big deal in the real world? God Bless You and OO.

Can someone clarify this for me please?

If I stay in a government school for several years I receive a waiver of my work visa that one day is not eligible any more.

Then if I wish to remain in that school I have to get the teacher license. This would mean attending a course (duration?) and paying what would seem a very large amount of money?

If this is the case, is it not best that I work in a private school where this is not a requirement?

I don't follow the logic of this system at all, and I would be a fool to try to get the license.

I hold a regular BSc degree and a CELTA cert.

The private school's will have the same TL requirement. Where the confusion reigns is the "waiver". It isn't a waiver or a work VISA, it's a waiver allowing you to teach in said school. There is no limit of "two". If the school has any pull whatsoever they can arrange additional waivers, if they want to keep you of course. After a few years you are starting to get expensive and begin asking questions about how things are run etc.. They don't want either one. God Bless You and OO.

was taken in by tourist police who had to call for back-up from Pattaya police and soldiers after she resisted arrest.

Why would the farang tourist police be involved in what appears to be a straight forward Thai on Thai matter? These farang "police" don't have arrest authority to begin with. Please just let them deal with the drunken Brits around town. Leave the Thai and Asian matters to the real police. Thanks.

Actually they just said to fight it at the original office or any other office, but I doubt you will get anywhere going to a different field office and getting them to overturn what a different field office, on the same level as themselves, did - I can't imagine a Thai government official being that daring.  I think it will have to be a higher-up i.e. the head office.

This is why I don't want to post the different field office. We didn't "tell" the second office the first one had made a decision etc.. We merely requested what was due or her right, to convert to self pay etc.. Had/if the second/third office knows another office has some rule, ridiculous or not, they certainly might balk at doing anything because as I said, "loss of face". You call it daring above but I think it's more loss of face than daring or respect etc.. God Bless You and OO.

If it was a short-time, one-off encounter how on earth did she manage to track down the client she thought was responsible? Sensible punters don't give their contact details to prostitutes.

Sensible? Anyhow, as made clear, the interlude was in my suite, where I live. This again quite common in Pattaya. Not all of the guys have live in girlfriends or wives, and go to "love hotels". God Bless You and OO.

I can imagine a man in this situation wanting to know if the child is his before abortion become too late.   Then she can have other choices to pursue if it's not his.  He sounds like he would man up if needed.

I thought testing an unborn for DNA and  birth defects needed invasive but it sounds like technology has changed.

Suggesting to wait to know could mean a fatherless baby is born.

I knew a gal in college who had a wild summer and sought refuge in a recent BF but he called her bluff and she ended up getting an abortion.  Later this friend was warned  this gal had a new man for the summer.

Thanks for explaining things to this bunch, better than I can. If the developing unborn is in fact my responsibility, abortion would be my choice. This difficult decision of course is ultimately the mothers. Such a discussion is almost impossible to have here as the very childlike replies have already begun to appear. God Bless You and OO.

“Man meets woman on Beach road in Pattaya . . . The couple has unprotected sexual intercourse . . .”

Joking about this is the kinder of the two options.

Sorry to break the news to you, but this goes on each and every day, night and day, all night and all day. The myth of condom use is yet another subject most likely too difficult for members here to have an intelligent mature discussion about. God Bless You and OO.

Why are you paying money before birth anyway? She may have a miscarriage or any number of things. Wait until its born and then have a DNA done, its still either going to be yours or not in 9 months time. Its not a car, your not obligated to pay a deposit on it.

To repeat myself, I do not want to debate abortion on this forum. Some members simply aren't mature enough for such a debate/discussion. God Bless You Mate and OO.

It seems another cliche is called for; if you backed into a buzz-saw, how would you know which tooth cut you?

    This is no joking matter..

Man meets woman on Beach road in Pattaya.

Man takes her back to his suite on Soi Bouikow.

The couple has unprotected sexual intercourse.

The woman returns six weeks later claiming she's pregnant and he fathered the unborn child.

The DNA test, so far, is being refused as she will lose face and he was the only guy who didn't use a condom.

God Bless the Children born in these relationships. OO.

Last thing you want on your conscious is complications from prenatal test.

The test being discussed is non-invasive. A, it seems, complicated process of isolating the cells from the developing fetus which are in the mother's blood and comparing them to the possible father. A simple blood draw. I never knew such a thing was possible but there it is on google, for a price. Trust becomes the issue along with money. God Bless You and OO.

How does a non invasive prenatal test work?
At 59600 + 7% would be cheaper to flick her 5k a month until postnatal then do test in home country

5000. Baht a month? Have you lost your mind mate? She's looking for a lump sum right now and is offended by the thought of a DNA test of any sort. Her word should be enough. "you only man not use condom".God Bless You and OO.
