Illegal migrant labour and sex work challenge Thailand’s tourism
rattlesnake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sounds a lot like my place, France. No wonder the PM is off to see Macron, they can both discuss their respective plans to wreck their countries. -
I know and like that Feynman quote, I have used it myself when discussing other topics. Actually the data is overwhelming, but is deemed not "credible" on this forum, that's all. As I told eisfeld, there is a deep chasm between those who believe the doxa (which at this point I consider to be akin to a Potemkin village) and those who don't, and as I told TallGuyJohnInBkk, my empirical observations (i.e. from the real world and I am not a recluse, over the past three months I have been to the UK and France in addition to Thailand and have observed a growing distrust and bitterness towards the authorities in general, from multiple-jabbed, previously pro-lockdown people who therefore can't be accused of being conspiracy theorists. This is the reality, but there still is a (shrinking) category of people who will accept what the media and official bodies say as incontrovertible truth.

UN agency accuses Israel of detaining, coercing staffers into false confessions about ties to Hamas The allegations are part of an as yet unpublished report compiled by UNRWA alleging Israel’s widespread physical and psychological abuse of Palestinians detained in Gaza during the war, including 21 UNRWA staff members, some of whom said they were beaten and threatened. [...] The detainees cited in the report gave testimony of beatings, sleep deprivation, sexual abuse and threats of sexual violence against both men and women detained by the Israeli military. Some of the detainees are also reported to have died while in Israeli custody, at times allegedly as a result of the abuse they suffered in detention. https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/04/middleeast/un-israel-confessions-allegations-intl/index.html#:~:text=According to the UNRWA report, access to food or water.

I sent you this article to give you some context. October 7th would not have happened if the Likud had not bolstered Hamas for years in order to sabotage any possibility of a Palestinian state. You do understand the concept of nuance, I am sure. Palestinian children are dying of thirst and hunger this very moment and nothing justifies that, unless they are "preemptively killing terrorists" which is a dubious notion to say the least. Also, a much-needed historical reminder: The Nakba: Five Palestinian towns massacred 75 years ago Thousands of Palestinians were killed and tens of thousands expelled during and after the creation of the Israeli state in 1948. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/5/15/the-nakba-five-palestinian-towns-massacred-75-years-ago

Hamas in its current form is an Israeli creation. Here is some much-needed background information for you: Most of the time, Israeli policy was to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset. Far-right MK Bezalel Smotrich, now the finance minister in the hardline government and leader of the Religious Zionism party, said so himself in 2015. [...] One thing is clear: The concept of indirectly strengthening Hamas — while tolerating sporadic attacks and minor military operations every few years — went up in smoke Saturday. https://www.timesofisrael.com/for-years-netanyahu-propped-up-hamas-now-its-blown-up-in-our-faces/

Look at this post and the 18 positive emojis it received. This is not a one-off and is recurring. I am hearing more and more people being critical towards the whole Covid episode and everything it entails, people who previously went along with it. Now I perfectly understand that you don't want to hear it, but surely there must come a point where you take a step back and accept the possibility that there is a flaw in your beliefs?

Currently, in Covid-related threads, critical posts mostly receive positive emojis whereas the minority, such as yourself, who still defend the official narrative mostly receive laughs. This is a 180° trend inversion compared to two years ago when most forum users were pro-science, pro-jab, reasonable citizens and people such as myself who were critical would get mobbed, in the few cases where our posts were not deleted. So what has happened? Have the users of this forum all turned into conspiracy theorists? Or maybe there was valid ground to the criticism and people realise it now?

He's 50.

This notion of what constitutes "reality" is what separates people like myself from people like yourself. You believe that supranational instances and other official "health" bodies such as the WHO or the CDC state the incontrovertible truth, whereas I believe they are lying. That's all. So regardless of what you think of it, it isn't denial of reality, it is denial of official statements.

If the impact had caused damage, surely the car driver would have mentioned it as a mitigating defence point. In my experience, road rage acts like that are triggered when "provoked" by either a finger or a wave, or a "F*** you" etc. Maybe BritManToo did none of these things, in which case he was just very unlucky, but I agree with you it is unusual. I recall an English guy being chased and shot dead in Pattaya, after giving a middle finger to a guy if I recall correctly. A friend of mine in France was stabbed to death for tapping the rear window of a car which refused to give way at a zebra crossing. People go nuts behind the wheel, not just in Thailand, but they are usually insulted or "provoked" first.

Not really, Mearshmeimer is rather opposed to the Kissinger doctrine and the establishment, he is also the co-author of The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy which I mentioned earlier in this thread. Yes, the New York Times was the original outlet to publish this, and it is significant as it confirms that the CIA built secret bases in Ukraine and has effectively waged a shadow war against Russia for the past decade. This is, of course, nothing new to those who have studied the issue seriously (Gladio networks). The comparison with Chechnya is invalid, because the Donbass civilian population has been persecuted since 2014, as mentioned earlier, we are not talking about rebels being strategically quelled.
