It was Mrentoul's post to which I was referring.

After my time in Hong Kong, I still can't get out of the habbit of handing over paper money with both hands and a lowered head.

However, I think Farangs Wai-ing just look preposterous. Just my opinion.

I think Stick would take exception to being critisised for something he didn't even say.....and even more annoyed that he should be slammed for allowing people freedom of speech on his site.

In fact, on his homepage, it quite clearly states.........

I agree that the article is utter crap but have you people actually bothered reading the section in question?!

On the subject of tall buildings, does anyone know the definative answer to why the 'Sofitel Chao Phraya' never opened. I've always felt sorry for that impressive looking building sitting there crumbling away dreaming of what could have been.

I've heard many stories about it but I'd like the true answer just to satisfy my curiosity.

When I mentioned 40,000 filippino girls, that was the estimate that dabbled in the sex industry when I lived there a couple oif years ago.

The girls do indeed take a hearty comission on the lady drinks.......but really, during the week Wan Chai is a ghost town. The 5,6,7 a.m. closing times were great though!

I was surprised at the variety of girls who go there to try their luck. I met my first Indonesian girl in Wan Chai. there are Vietnamese, Burmese......they're all there jostling for space at the bar......with almost no custom.

The girlie scene in Hong Kong is dead dead dead....and what is left is just a run down strip in Wan Chai. The only time the girls can make any money is during the now incredibly rare US warship visits to HK.

Apart from gogo bars, the disco's are awash with embedded Thai girls that live permanently in HK. New arrivals will find it impossible to make the money they were led to believe. There simply aren't the customers in HK now as the wealthy businessmen are few and far between.

Compounding this is the fact that there are around 40,000 filippino maids living and working there, who often top up their megre wages by freelancing in the evenings.

The costs!!!!! Beleive it or not, if you consider that barfining a girl in Wan Chai will cost you hundreds of US$, it really is cheaper to fly to the Philippines/Thailand, book into a hotel, have you fun with a girls for the night and then fly back again.....HK is no place for the average guy. Is Banking and finance chaps only and there's not enough of them to go round for the girls.

When you arrive in Bangkok, just pop into any bar along Sukhumvit, Cowboy, Nana etc etc etc......There you will find many helpfull young ladies who will be only too happy to take care of your money for you while you sort out your account........such nice people.

I have used http://www.flowers2thailand.com/default.asp with no problems and they seem pretty good.

Note however that this is NOT the service that advertises on Stickmans site, with a similar name. They only advertise with a mobile number which doesn't fill me with confidence.
