  1. There seems to be some truth to that. It most certainly has something to do with the inability to visualize. Neither the future, nor the hypothetical. What will happen in this scenario? What about this? What about that? What are the inherent risks involved in piloting my bike onto the safety lane of a major highway, in the wrong direction, with big trucks coming at me at 100kph? Is it worth sacrificing my life, or my ability to walk for the rest of my life? How will my death affect my kids? I don't think many Thais ever ponder thoughts like this. Why, I can't imagine. It is likely something we will never understand about their nature. I often like to say the best way to understand these differences in attitude and intellect, is to realize Thailand is NOT a foreign country. It is a distant planet.
  2. A couple of years ago, I was considering leaving. Tens of thousands of expats have already left. There is ALOT of nonsense here. But, we did look around. Spent some time traveling and looking for alternatives. Couldn't find any that made sense, which we liked more than here. Alot of other places are worse, and if we were wealthy, we would have more options. But, many spots have become frightfully expensive. Thailand is still reasonable. And we were happy to return. Many of us have very good lives here. Other than moaning on this forum, I spend most of the time with my head buried as deep in the sand, as I can, trying hard to ignore the waves of nonsense.
  3. There is no doubt this woman was disturbed. Not alot of options here, for people with mental health issues. Thailand has deeply betrayed it's people when it comes to this area of health.
  4. This is worldwide. There are simply too many devious people, who refuse to work for a living. They are social vampires, sucking the blood of society. Alot of people just do not understand how corrosive, damaging, degrading and nasty social media can be. There are an infinite number of scammers, predators and fraudsters out there. Most of us have the good sense to avoid them, and not get taken in by their unwillingness to do actual work for a living. It boggles the mind, to consider the number of people who fall for these scams. Someone calls you, or contacts you online, and you send them money? Someone you have never met? Someone you have not researched? What gives? Where are the survival instincts? How is a youngster supposed to have the wisdom to know? Granted being asked to send naked pics to a stranger is a bit much. But, I am sure it happens all the time. There is little chance of these people getting apprehended. Very little. And it is a strong indication of just how bent, warped and misguided contemporary culture and society is, that someone can be considered an idol or celebrity just because they have alot of followers on Tik tok, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Personally, I consider social media to be the most corrosive and degenerate force in culture today, and they can be downright dangerous, on multiple levels.
  5. Driving a bike at excessive speed here, or on the wrong side of a highway, to save 5 minutes, is an invitation for trouble. Ask yourself one thing. Is my life already complicated enough, without a serious bike accident? Or death? Darwin insisted that some species and some members of those species were more fit for survival than others. It would appear the roads here, and especially motorbike riders, are a perfect example of his theories in action. It takes certain qualities to survive on the roads here. Patience, being very conscious of your surroundings, driving defensively, avoiding excessive speed, especially in town, following basic traffic rules and laws and avoiding being overly stupid, at all times. 95% of the time someone dies on a bike here, it is due to a lack of attention, being nearly unconscious, or commiting a very stupid act, and the inability to comprehend the very serious, and very dangerous task at hand. Many Thais are extremely casual about driving, and seem to have little understanding of the dangers involved, and the need to be 100% focused, at all times. Especially on a motorbike.
  6. Why aren't 7 million people shutting down Bangkok? Where is the anger? Where is the indignation? Why such staggering passivity? When will the Thai people draw a line in the sand? What has to be done to them before they say NO!
  7. No. Just got baited by this fool and was speculating on what it was that he/she was asking.
  8. Wil this guy ever just go away? The best thing he could do for the nation would be to move overseas, never to be heard from again. He is a boil on the face of Thailand. Such an incapable leader. Where do they find these bottom of the barrel dregs?
  9. Notice how the OP never once replied, nor provided any further info? He/she was bored and wanted to bait us all.
  10. Some vital info would be helpful. Are you a woman? Are you under 35? Pretty? Kids? A Thai or a foreigner? Are we talking about a short term loan? Or a monthly stipend? We can start from there.
  11. Well, at least they are comments and responses to other posts, instead of me bragging about the many things I am doing to save mankind!
  12. That may be one tiny aspect of this. I think it has more to do with making sure the large and mediocre looking women in the audience are not made to feel uncomfortable. I think that is 98% of the reluctance to cast gorgeous women in American productions.
  13. I am going to assume that was meant as humor. I do not have a bigoted bone in my body. I love diversity and think it is one of America's greatest assets. I do think liberals and Hollywood are taking it too far. Alot of pandering. I find some Asian and Black women gorgeous. But, I don't see many in Hollywood productions, these days. Emily Ratajkowski, Ana De Armas, and a few others are an exception. The younger versions of Olga Kurylenko, Eva Green, Blake Lively, Winona Ryder, were gorgeous.
  14. And it is likely one of the dumbest policies in the history of the nation. The UK saves a fortune on it's expat population. On so many levels. It is likely sour grapes. We are so great. You can't leave. That is not right!
  15. She is quite hot. For some reason, Hollywood seems to steer away from gorgeous women. Very, very few in film today. Alot of modest looking woman, alot of bigger women, very few super hot women. Many more in foreign films.
  16. Anutin is a very unimpressive man. He failed miserably as health minister. He failed in his bid to become PM, thankfully. Wow, he can fly. But, I wouldn't trust him to fly me around! We all know the type. Deeply insecure, low self esteem. Overly rich, always bragging, and in great need of approval from others. Look at me!
  17. I have seen 10's on rare occasion during the Olympics. I don't think there are any women who are 10s. It does discredit to the scale by using that term. A 7.8, an 8.2. Not a 10. And not in her 40s! I once met a 9.5 in Bali back in 1986. I still remember her.
  18. Thank you for your endless kindness, charity, and support. You are a champion, among champions, and a tribute to this forum.
  19. Hope not. The extent to which he failed during covid was unforgivable. He had no business being health minister to begin with. His game is concrete, not health.
  20. Truly large men do something because it is the right thing to do, and they do it in silence and in private. Very small men do something good, and the whole world needs to know about it. They post it on social media, and make sure to juice the opportunity, for every bit of credit.
  21. No mention of whether it was Raja or Seatran. Raja is typically less dependable, the boats are much older, and they seem to have more accidents and incidents.
  22. Turn it around on the male teachers. Make them wear speedos, and dance for the students. That will show them!
  23. You seem to have an issue with organized religion, per se. Alot of people do. But, that does not mean that a higher power of some sort does not exist. Many scientists believe in a higher power. You don't. You can spend the next year trying to defend your position and it changes nothing. You are not a believer in something you cannot see. That is on you. Don't try to pigeon hole the entire scientific community with the same limitations you have.
  24. Note to the dummies at the highway patrol. You don't bust anyone for not wearing a seat belt, reckless driving or speeding, at a roadblock. You find them driving on the highway. If you guys would actually engage in patrolling the highways, things could be alot safer. There would be a deterrent.
