  1. The BIG question is this.  suppose someone is here on tourist visa or extended tourist visa and causing trouble. Is it possible to have them deported if they have a criminal record in the states? Anyone know anything about that?  The local police don't seem to be on top of those things, but then where can this be reported? Or does it even matter?

Oh, and another thing? Suppose the person has taken up residence for weeks without a TM28 or TM30, no permission from an owner or house holder?

    Thanks for any good answers.

I am really pleased you enjoyed your "ego trip".

A one paragraph synopsis with a conclusion at the end would have been even more helpful!

You didn't have to read it. I thought it was all in good fun, but maybe you're suffering from some hangups in this area.

I did not think i would ever say this but there are completely herbal tablets out there that really do work. Don't know if you can get it in Thailand but 'DriveMax 'is one example. It may wll be worth giving a few of the herbals a try. Would be about 60 baht a tablet.

Thanks. I did try Horny Goat Weed, but it didn't really do anything expect after about 10 days my blood pressure fell hard and my heart rate shot up too high. I nearly passed out a few times before figuring it out. Anything you order is likely to come courier and if it's herbal or mineral or vitamin it will be snatched by customs, and you'll have to go to their office and argue. You might be waived through but more likely it will be held for ransom or destroyed. Not pleasant. Yeah, there's one plant that grows here, forget what it's called, has a strong reputation for that, darn, can't remember the name, but I looked high and low and couldn't find it.

  5. Hopefully, I can clear up some confusion on this topic. I've used Sidegra (Thailand's generic viagra) for a while. It's quite cheap at about 200 baht for four 50mg tabs, about the right dosage for an average bloke like me. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work and has caused progressively worsening stomach upset. Taking a good dose of bicarbonate of soda helps, especially in advance. Still, the last time I took it, I'd had a beer a few hours before and was quite ill for two days.
So, checking out Cialis. Uh oh, four 20mg tabs is a bit more or less than 2000 baht. Ouch! I'll save anyone the task of finding generic Cialis. Watch out if you're offered that name, because it is still the same active ingredient as Viagra/Sidegra. From a real authority on Thai drugs, it is NOT possible to find real generic Cialis in Thailand, at least not legally. I've checked at least a dozen drugstores in Chiang Mai and nada. I have seen a couple of websites claiming that they can deliver it at a modest price, but I wouldn't take that chance because it's a given that customs would squash it.

Let's put a bit more thought into it. A 10mg dose of Cialis is equivalent to 50mg Sidegra, so the adjusted price of a four pack of eight dozes (split the tabs in half) is 1000 baht. That's still 5x the price, surely still not as much bang for the baht, but if it works and doesn't make you sick, then it might be worth it depending on your situation.  Having married a stunning Thai woman with a marvelous shape, I'd hate to lose that aspect of our good times, ; however, as I grudgingly approach 70, the old taliwhacker has gotten terribly weak. Even the wife's skilled fingers have trouble waking it up.

So I bit the bullet and got a four pack of Cialis. I understood a 2.5mg daily dose should work fine, so I took 2.5mg about 3pm the first day, then went to my grand daughter's birthday where I foolishly drank two cokes laced with a good bit of whiskey, ate a large amount of shrimp, squid and fatty pork. Even on a normal day that should have put my digestive track into deep trauma, and 50mg SIdegra would have surely put me out commission for a few days. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I felt just fine, even after popping another 2.5mg about 7pm. By 9:30 we were in bed, and I was still feeling terrific, except that I couldn't stay awake. I went into a profound slumber for nearly an hour, but still painfully aware that I had probably blown the chance with too much food and alcohol.  In any case, it didn't seem like it would have mattered because Kilroy wasn't going to budge, even though a half sleep can sometimes rouse him a bit.

Finally, I shook off the drowsies and gave it a try. To eveyone's amazement, the alter ego rose to the challenge and performed like a champion. Holy Guacamole, Batman, I even came a hair's width from hitting the Golden Buzzer. Thankfully, it's never a difficult or unwelcome chore to pop that cork.
Conclusion. Tenatively, it seems 10mg of cialis will do the job just fine and cause no upset stomach or other nasty symptoms that Sidegra/Viagra does, at least not in my case. Is CIalis worth it? I have a couple of Sidegras left and will give them another chance, but doubt I can tolerate them anymore. My wife is winding down as well, being only 9 years younger, so we're both resigned to fading out, but we're not dead yet. She's also tight in more ways than one, so she probably wouldn't agree, but she's still got a delicious shape and I can justify using Cialis once in a while.  I'd take the 2.5mg a day some do, but that's just too much moolah.  I'll have to check out the Kamagra jelly.

Hey, if she is happy with it than thats great.  But I did not like you quoting the incorrect prices, when you admit you did not remember.  There is nothing wrong with a topper from BigC, but, it will not be the same quality as Latex Innovations, and I don't really care if you believe it or not.  Funny that you say you had to drag her to shops and cause her suffering when you could have saved her all that pain by just ordering online and waiting for it to be delivered.  Oh, and pure latex is NOT just a word, its an actual commodity with a global market and prices.  But ignorance is bliss, is it not?

So are you calling everyone that purchased Mams products a fool?  All the happy users and positive comments mean nothing?  Its comments like yours and your attitude that has pushed me away from posting in this forum on a regular basis.

You may not like it, but I said I didn't remember. It's obvious you have a liking for Mam, but 13k or 20k the point is the same. Taking her to the shops was a necessary chore to ensure she got the things she needed and wanted, try to have mercy on the consumer and not accuse her helper of unnecessary cruelty. Ordering online and not knowing for sure what will arrive ensures a painful outcome. And pure latex is a just a word unless I have certification from an independent lab, and even then that doesn't translate to better quality, nor is there any proof you can provide that she didn't end up with pure latex or a safe, non-toxic, equivalent, nor is there any certifiable documentation that the Big C shop wasn't selling the same quality, only your word for it. What really isn't good etiquette is implying that the buyer here was ignorant, that's the kind of talk that gets people excited. What I said was, before you twisted my words, is that I would be a fool to buy something unseen just based on advertising claims, especially one third the amount for half again the price. Did you say you were related to Mam, have an interest in the business, or are a salesman, because you sure do talk like a salesman. I saw the comments from satisfied customers, but I'd rather see for myself, especially when I don't personally know them and can't confirm they are real.

  7. 11 hours ago, VIBE said:

You can't remember but then state a price of 20,000 THB and say its expensive?  The largest 7.5cm topper Latex Innovations sells is a kingsize, and costs 13,199 THB.  Twin size is 9299 THB.?  Why don't you poke your head into all the shops around Chiangmai that are selling REAL natural latex products and check their prices and compare them to Latex Innovations?  They are way way more.  Mam has not raised her prices for over 5 years, even though the factory has.  She still sells extremely high quality natural latex for a great price.

    http://latexinnovations.com/store/#!/Toppers/c/2137218/offset=0&sort=normal

Quality of latex ranges.  A cheaper topper is cheaper for a reason.  Nothing wrong with a cheaper topper that is not 100%, but it is NOT the same as sleeping on pure latex.  If you have never experienced it then yes, you would not know that it is better.

So you say, and maybe you're right, but what real difference does it make? I have to take your word for it that it's better quality than the one I see at Big C and wait until it arrives by mail to find out otherwise? In any case, the mattress at Koncept was listed for 19K+ and on sale for 9k for a full king size 10" thick mattress, a whole lot less than 13k for a measly 7.5 cm topper, pure latex is just a word.  Sure, you'll insist that Mam's is far higher quality, but that won't mean anything to this disabled woman who has been resting peacefully on this one for three months, is delighted with a great bargain and thinks nothing could possibly be more pleasantly comfortable. Ok, I could drag her around with her walker to several more shops than the three we checked out before stumbling onto the one at Koncept, but that would have surely landed her in the hospital. I could also have gambled that you weren't peddling hyperbole and ordered Mam's topper sight unseen, but I'm not that much of a fool. What it boils down to is that the woman who needed something badly found more than her heart's desire for a very modest price and has been happy with it for a few months now.  Sorry, but throwing around words like experiencing pure latex doesn't mean much. You have to have demonstrate the fact.

  8. Just went to the Hang Dong dealer to see many Finos, Grand Filanos and a large stock of a slightly bigger model, can't remember the name now but about 80,000 baht. Now, the Finos were beautiful, all a bit over 48,000 baht, a real bargain I thought but I just got rid of one I'd had for seven or eight years. WHOA, but the Filanos were far more beautiful, 125cc vs 115cc, bigger and to this old man just like a Rolls Royce. The more expensive model just wasn't worth it for me, and the Filano just perfect. I see a 2nd hand 2017 Grand Filano at Motors.co.th with 1,900 km for 50,000 baht, and yet these brand new new ones with black wheels and flashy paint jobs were only 52,900 with free helmet and jacket. Finally came to the conclusion that any 2nd hand I could find probably wasn't what I really wanted nor worth the risk when I can easily afford a new one.  For an old fella who just putters around town, you can't do better I think. A smoother and classier ride than the Fino, nice looking, fully automatic, I'm delighted.

For those that have purchased a Latex mattress and not just the topper, how thick of a mattress did you get, 10cm or 15cm?  Is a 10cm mattress thick enough if you don't have any underlying support mattress?  I looked at the 15cm king size from (Latexinnovations) and it's almost 24,000 Baht, not cheap, but should make up for it in the long run I guess.  (20-30 years)  With cover and shipping, it would be over 27,000.

Just curious if the 10cm is enough or just bite the bullet and get the 15cm one.

My problem was finally solved, or say for my sister who is very fragile and needed soft foam. The Latex Innovations lady I did call and she quoted me roughly (been a few months so I don't remember for sure, but pang mach) about 20,000 baht + or so, very expensive for the 7.5 cm I think it was. But then I stopped at the Big C on the way to Hang Dong and at the door they were selling a very, very nice, similar looking 7.5 cm topper for only 10,000. Not convinced the Latex Innovations was any better, went the next day to buy it, but first stopped at Koncept closer to CM. Lo and behold they had a luxurious soft full King size mattress, surely at least 10 inches thick and it was on sale for 9,000 baht. Of course, we jumped on that. Just like floating on a cloud, billowy, soft, nice design.

That Clicks and Finos are "weak bikes" is not true at all. That the boy's Fino did not lasted maybe had to do with the age of its rider. They are true scooters with a flat footrest, that makes easier to mount, dismount and carry loads. Also, they are fully automatic, do not have a chain, plus a lot of other advantages. Check that out and don't be opinionated.

Yeah, my Fino was about four years old when I bought it for 25k (had sold previous for 18k). That was seven years ago, have crashed it at least six times, once sudden impact at 60 kph. No damage to the bike four years ago, but my knees are still a big shakey. Yeah, 45k, over ten years old and it's still trucking. Had to replace the seat two years ago. Now I'd like to buy something new, perhaps a Falino, Honda Moove, I don't know, trying to figure this out.

Memory foam contains all sorts of chemicals and petroleum byproducts. Who wants to sleep on that? All my bedrooms have Latexinnovations mattresses and couldn't be more comfortable - simple 100% natural latex.

    Thanks for the tip.

They all appear to be 2 inches thick and just as hard as a thai mattress.

You did or did not read all the comments?  How do you come by these appearances? Latexinnovations is supposed to sell 5.0 or 7.50 cm toppers that are much more comfortable, at least that's what I'm seeing.

  13. Good info, but I am not seeing WHERE you can buy memory foam in CM or mail order in Thailand. A friend is in need of a softer pad on top of a very hard mattress as she will be needing to get under the blankets with the temp dropping. She thinks that she needs memory foam, but maybe latex from latexinnovations.com would be okay, too.

I see a contradiction in the above statement. If I understand you correctly, you were not fined. Your wife, the "house-master" (เจ้าบ้าน), ie the chief possessor of the residence where you are staying, was fined. Presumably, the receipt for the fine was issued in her name, not in your name. Was this the case?

Technically, you're correct, but do you really think I'm going to stare down my wife and have her get the money out of her purse? Ditto for anybody else, there is little likelihood the house owner will suffer any consequences, it is YOU who could lose your visa, so smile and pay the piper.

  15. Afraid I can't help too much. I always just put in the new address on the next 90 day report (TM47) and was never challenged about it for 11 years, so don't even know what a TM28 is, okay change of address, so thanks for the tip and if I move again I'll try to remember to drop into immigration and ask about it, but I think this is generally ignored so don't sweat too much. The hotel is supposed to report your stay with the TM30 but I don't know how the stub gets into your passport which is required. I've never bothered with a TM30 despite many trips in Thailand because it was never enforced until recently, so I guess you just ask each place you stay and try to get it right. If not, you may end up paying a 1600 baht fine, not too serious, but be sure once you settle in that you get the TM30 done and have the stub in your passport. What you really should do is stop in at the nearest immigration office when you get to your permanent location and ask them what you need to do, just be sincere and make a best effort to do what they required. It's easiest to do the 90 day report by postal mail with EMS, see immigration website for directions. .

I am planning to return to Thailand from Europe mid-January to apply for my first 1 year extension based on retirement.  I currently have a 90 day non "O" visa with re-entry permit.  I'm British, 50 and have the money needed in a Thai account.

I've rented a place in That Phanom, that depends on Nakhon Phanom district immigration.  The idea is that this will be my base in the coming years, as I travel around and go back and forth to Europe. I will probably not spend more than a few weeks there are a time, and unlikely to stay in Thailand more than 60 days in a row for the time being.

However this TM-30 business, that I hear is very strictly applied at Nakhon Phanom immigration, may throw a spanner in the works.  It seems that the TM-30 notification must be done by the house owner in person with their blue book (my landlady's husband, but he's not the one who signed my lease...)

And furthermore, this person must then come on the day of "application for extension based on retirement."

I think (hope) I can pay to get landlady and husband to take a day off from work and go with me to immigration.  But can I do the TM-30, then do right away the extension application? (Assuming I've managed to get the other papers from the bank an hour away...) And maybe even the multiple entry permit?

Also, as I will be arriving from Europe, there is no way I can get up to Nakhon Phanom immigration within 24 hours, I need to  spend the night somewhere.  If I spend a night or two in BKK or even in Nakhon Phanom, do I then also need to fill in the T-28 because my address changes 48 hours later?   I'm quite happy to skip this and pay 1600THB fine if that is all it will entail...

Finally, am I correct in understanding that my landlady/ her husband will be able to do the TM-30 by post in the future?

    Many thanks for all advice,

    TAD

I don't have all the answers so not sure I have the best advice. The rule is get the TM30 within 24 hours, not that it be done where you you will be getting the retirement visa or staying permanently. My wife didn't need a blue book, but did need a copy of her Thai ID. Doesn't matter who signed your lease, that's not the point. I don't think that because you stayed somewhere for few days that this establishes your resident address, so don't sweat it. My wife and I frequently go on trips but I don't report an address change just because I stayed somewhere for a while.

So, you stay in a BKK hotel, hopefully you can get the TM30 stub put in your passport. If not, and Nakhon Phanom is tough, you may have to pay the 1600 baht fine, but really, you've done the best you can to follow the rules, so I doubt you'll be dinged too much if at all. Explain this all to immigration when you go in with your papers to finalize the retirement visa and don't catastrophize too much. Most likely they will do their best to help you, and 1600 baht won't break you in half.  I haven't moved in 8 years, but my understanding is that Meaw could send the TM30 form in by mail next time if we were to move to another house or the next time we return from a trip somewhere. It's not too much trouble just to drive there, either. Maybe someone else has a better answer.

Here is a question l need to be answered, when l fly into Khon Kaen can l go to there immigration office or do l have to go to the office where l would be doing 90 day reports to?  (Sakon Nakhon) which is a 2 hour drive for my TM30

When you first fly in, what is your purpose to go to an Immigration Office unless it's to get a re entry permit? Or you may need to have the TM30 stub stapled into your passport, too, I think. I doubt it makes any difference which office you go to for any of these things as long as it gets done. When you come back, you'll need to redo the TM30. Then, towards the end of the 3rd month, go to the nearest office to process the retirement visa. Go about ten days prior to the 90 day mark to give room in case there is some delay. Maybe a good idea to go much earlier at least once to check and make sure you're on track with everything. You'll find that doing the 90 day reports by mail is much easier and reliable (use EMS postal).   You are fortunate to have a Thai wife who can help with the language barrier.

Thanks for the advice, been thinking about it for 20 odd years and now the time has come, kids have grown up and left the nest.

Just getting all the info, l will have to fly back to Aussie on a phone call to sign important papers, it's outta my control, that's why l was asking

Oh, ok. Well, I think it's no problem just to go to Promenada and get a re entry permit, but it costs some money. I see only one reference to a non O with multi entry on the Chicago site, looks like $200 gets you a year multiple entry, maybe check that out.

    • Fee rate for each category of entry per person is collected, accordingly: Transit Visa $35.00, Tourist Visa $40.00, Non-Immigrant Visa $80.00, (one-year multiple-entry Non-Immigrant Visa: $200). Fee can be paid by Money Order or Cashier's check. (Personal check is not acceptable) Please make it payable to "Royal Thai Consulate-General, Chicago.

So if l got a multi entry Non imm O l can apply for an extension say after the first 2 months of any exit/entry. Am l understanding that right?

Yes, except why would you want a multi entry? You have a 90 day O, just sit tight for 60 days and get the bank letter and health certificate, then before 90 days are up go in and get the retirement extension (it's stamped/called a visa on my passport). If you do need to leave Thailand during that period, go to the Promenada office and get a re entry permit. You seem to think there's some requirement to leave Thailand, but there shouldn't be.

Alright. Merry Christmas to you and your wife.

Well l haven't made my mind up yet if l will get a retirement extension  or  extension based on marriage, l have heard the marriage is a lot more paperwork and l just want to slip into not working. Now as far as l understand it l have to arrive in Thailand on an o visa then apply for a extension after 2 months (First time) with the required amount of money in the bank.

I've been in Thailand on a retirement visa for 11 years. Yes, you get the 90 day O first. You will need a bank deposit of 800,000 baht for two months OR income amounting to 65,000 baht for two months backed by a letter from the bank. Before the end of the 3rd month you take proof of that to Immigration to get the visa. The first time I needed a health checkup at RAM hospital as well and I think you might need to show proof of residence, at least you need that for the Thai driver's license. The driver's license is easy to get and well worth it if only to use as identificationand you don't need to pack around the passport. You're right, the marriage route requires only 400,000 baht (held jointly as I remember), but it's more involved and requires more checks and such, can't remember the details now but choose the retirement visa if you can do it. It's very easy to get all this done. Technically, you only need a tourist visa but that can cause serious problems, so get the non O first. I think you'll love it here, I sure do.
