  1. Thank you very much for the information. I specifically purchased the share for their dividend, so I'll check if I can convert those to NVDR without cost. My broker is KTZMico (Krung Thai bank). Last Friday, I was told "Actually you have to sign many documents and attach the copied of your passport. It’s very complicated and waste of time." with regards to converting them to NVDR.
  2. OK, The VAT is only on the PayPal fee, not the total amount.
  3. Actually, I have a Thai supplier who asked me not to pay him in Thailand anymore, because the government was now taking 7% VAT on all transactions, so I'm now sending the money to a subsidiary in another country.
  4. I wonder if this applies to new accounts to. My girlfriend setup an account last month, but at no point the "Know Your Business (KYB) scheme.". The 7% VAT is interesting too, as I thought businesses making less than 1.8 million Baht did not have to pay. Will this change too, or is it only for online transactions?
  5. My girlfriend just setup a business and opened a PayPal account. They'll check a lot of documents, with business license, ID card, inventory receipts, etc.. She did not have the latter, since she provides services to oversea businesses, but the application still went through.. It's only possible to receive payments by generating an invoice in USD from the PayPal website. Trying to pay directly with the email does not work, paying an invoice in THB does not work. They recently blocked withdrawals and outgoing payments asking for additional information, notably details about customers, receipts, and so on. We could provide all that and within one day the restrictions were lifted. So I would not recommend opening a PayPal account at this time, unless your girlfriend has a legitimate business. Edit: If the goal is to receive money from overseas I'd use Transferwise (WiSe) or Instarem.
  6. I've been owning some stocks on the SET for few months, and today I got a call from the lady that helped me open my trading open saying I purchased stocks illegally! She apologized for not informing me, and told me I had to sell all my stocks, and that I could purchase the stock again but manually ticking NVDR in the trading platform. That's crazy, Anyway, NVDR stands for Non-Voting Depository Receipt, and that's to avoid foreigner getting control of Thai companies. But considering the small amount I had purchasing, my voting rights would be insignificant. Is it really the law that foreigners can only own NVDR stocks?
  7. I can't remember. It might have been WiFi or my data connection.
  8. I was peacefully sitting outside the other day, when I heard some engine noise over my heard. Shocked, I asked my girlfriend what was going on. She explained to me Chiang Mai airport was open to Korean flights. It was almost as surprising when I saw a Tuk Tuk when exercising the other day, and asked my girlfriend: "Oh. They still make Tuk Tuk in Thailand?", as it had been years since I had seen one!
  9. Considering you are not taxed for oversea income, Thailand can be made a tax haven. Of course, it depends on circumstances, tax treaties, and so on.
  10. It worked this time. My report was approved from the Android app, even I could not input my GPS coordinates. I could not submit my report 15 days before, but 14 days before was fine.
  11. I've been an expat living in Thailand first married, then working, for 11 years, and I'd like some laws that provide some sense of security with regards to immigration status and property rights, and that would allow me to actually spend my money...
  12. Update. Mine is due on the 23rd. I tried yesterday (15 days before) with the Android app, but it did not go through. I tried again this morning with the app. I could go through. There are fields for the GPS location, but I was unable to fill them. My application is still pending, so I'll find out soon. I have sent my application by mail as well yesterday. I may end up with two.... It happened once before...
  13. It's not working for me. I got a new passport this year, and did the first 90-day report in person, and then by mail. I guess it will only work again if I get out of Thailand and come back. So that will be mailed reports for me going forward...
  14. Except for old rich men, as they could always apply for an investment visa, or go with the 5 to 20-year visa scheme (forgot the name!). Provided those do not require health insurance, which I don't know the answer.
  15. I once asked for a social security card, but I was told it was not necessary because I had a pink card. And indeed I can use social security at the hospital with my pink card, but I'm not sure this would cut it with immigration. So I'd have to make sure to get a certified letter from my employer before leaving the country, since I print out may not be considered valid.
  16. The Great Reset/Build back better Thailand edition.
  17. If I had to spend 10 million Baht on a house where I'd like to live, I'd have to purchase 10 Rais of land, and build a house with at least five bedrooms...
  18. Maybe they could serve alcohol in taxis, since it won't be available in other venues...
  19. I'll soon renew my work pass, apply for extension of pass together with re-entry pass, and even submit my 90-day pass report soon. It's true. Using the word "Pass" makes everything sound so nicer ????
  20. Some foreigners with COVID will not be detected by the system, although the number should be low. If it was so easy then why all the rules and hassles?
  21. About 1% death rate in Thailand vs 3.3% death rate in Indonesia. I wonder what causes the difference.
  22. Thailand is reopening on November 1st, and will be welcoming Delta Plus with open arms.
  23. Who did they ask? It's not clear. Since ASEAN Now made the survey I suppose they asked members who are not currently in Thailand.
