  1. hard to say, it doesn`t look like a Pardo 43,

what`s the price of a new 16 meter boat, including Thai Tax ?

what did the owner spend for interior design, too much Swarovski ?

I wouldn`t asume anything, without proper information,

if he calculates the damage for the new replacement value,

its total different to the used market price.

Also the loss adjuster could be advised, to be careful, when the owner could cancel the hole shopping mall contracts with the same insurance,

so, the claim could be focused on his boat valuation, and his reaction, to sign the first compensation offer.

  2. just read your posting, just came back from Amorn, where I got a new capacitor and installed it, - working fine.

Happy, to have the motor working, still have to check, why the gate is not closing soft.

Didn`t check the full opening, stop right before, have to find out, if the limit sensor is working or not,

and whats the reason, that my adjustment at the controll board has no effect.

I see the red light going on and off, when I did the adjustment and was  moving the gate,

but it didn't have an effect of the closing process right now (the same dramatic crash sound)

So far, the main problem is settled, thanks for the advices.

  3. thks crossy and johng,

I have to admit, that I couldn`t locate a fuse.

A new motor capacitor was ordered today.

The closing limit switch is working, its a red lamp on the controller,

and it`s on, when the magnet is too close to the receiver on the motor.

You move the gate by hand, and adjust the little screw, till you have the right position.

    Tomorrow, I test the capacitor.

  4. g10.jpg

when I press on the remote open, the second relais is snapping,

when I press close, the third relais is snapping

in the motorcase, the capacitor is connected with the F oreward and R ear Line.

    Just a simple capacitor CBB60 SH 16uF 450V, with 2 lines.

    gate-3.jpg

ok, I don`t have the wireing diagramm from the motor, I just connect everything in the same system, like it was,

and in the vdo, it was working.

ok, I could change the capatitor, may be, its is the reason, and burned, after the soft switch limit was not working.

  5. after having the problem, that the gate did not close anymore,

I discovered a minor animal problem.

    gate-box-01.jpg

    gate-box-02.jpg

I decided, to invest in a new g 10 controller board, and connected it.

After I realised, that there is a cabel connection problem with the right block

    F -Foreward, R - Rear, C - Common, L -Lamp, N - neutral, and L - Plus

I did a cable test bridge, where I connected a new F- Foreward and R -Rear.

As you could see in the vdo, it worked, but only one time.

The gate closed (without proper limit switch soft closing, it struck hard in the end position.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A43WbzTklIQ

(in the vdo, after the gate closed, you hear a certain sound, that something of the motor was still working, I had to switch it off, with the remote. The same sound, I could hear now, when I try to open or close, but the motor is not starting)

After this, I was not able, to start the motor again.

The controller is working, the relais are snapping, I got the right 236 V

at the motor, but the motor is not starting.

    Any idea ?

  6. Could there be some kind of Pattaya resident parking permit?

Would require a brain. You could also propose a traffic plan/traffic concept whistling.gif

I am waiting for the day of total gridlock when cars will be left on the streets and people have to be evacuated walking wink.png

    Complete madness.

what is the concept, if you have a big fire at Central ?

There is only one way, stop all the cars from bkk, don`t let them enter the sukumvit,

they should be directed to leave the highway, to a big parking area, where shuttle-busses are bringing the drivers into town.

  7. Cut ties to Bangkok ?

More than 70 percent of Pattaya’s visitors are foreign, but Thais make up a growing number of tourists and now account for almost 30 percent of all visitors, he said. - See more at: http://www.pattayamail.com/localnews/cut-ties-with-bangkok-tours-mayor-tells-travel-agents-44145#sthash.MKMrcBIP.GCTl9IV5.dpuf

Thai Tourist don`t book expensive tour packages,

but thai "tourist" cars from Bkk are causing a much bigger traffic jam in Pattaya,

and it`s all about the traffic jam,

that makes the selling of tour packages a hard job.

So, what is the concept for Pattaya tourism,

when the Sukumvit / Central Road construction is starting,

and causing much more traffic jams,

selling a tour package to stand in a Pattaya traffic jam for hours ???

  8. In other words, raise your prices so your customers will stop using you and force your customers to use your competition.

    no,

    in other words,

the thai middle-class-sanuk-society is blocking the flight seats, tourism is suffering.

Thais don`t book expensive tour packages.

Thailand has to find a way, that the flight capacity is reserved for foreign tourism.

  9. If the German guy knew he was playing with the girlfriend or even ex of a policeman he was naive to think he wouldnt hear from the cop again . Almost a death warrant.

My 'King" he was no policeman. whistling.gif

this was the shooting of the policeman,

but in these 24h, much more happend,

another thai woman was killed in Phuket, because dating (another german?)

Hotel staff said they had heard the couple arguing a couple of months earlier, and investigators believe, from what the staff heard, that Ms Yuwadee may have told Mr Prasit she wanted to break off the relationship to leave her free to go out with “a foreigner”.

  10. 4 years ago, I got a very usefull water timer from DIG Model 9001EZ at HomePro for 2.350 Baht,

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/326569-water-timer/

Now, I have to replace them, but HomePro only present the high end model from DIG, with digital screen,

for 3.600 Baht, but not the basic model.

After checking the china models of water timer, they only work for 12 month, then the battery contacts are corroded,

    but the main problem,

if they got out of function, they are not closing the water system, so, if you are out, for a couple of weeks, the water is running 24 hours.

So I`m looking again, for the basic DIG Model 9001EZ water timer.

(DIG changed the name into Galcon, but they produce the same models)

  11. after having a great loss of power supplys, I used 2 cleanline UPS, to learn,

that during very strong rain, the power seems to be reduced.

From my 3 phase connection, only one phase had 230 V,

    the other 2 had around 140 V.

A swiss guy near khon kaen bought a avr 10 kva for about 40.000 Baht,

    http://www.isaan-thai.ch/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1394#p22375

    seems to be that model,

    http://www.soundmarkthai.com/webboard_1181871_38020_th?lang=th

but is it the normal price for an avr ?

I thought about, of placing TV, PC, and all valuable electric on one phase curcuit,

that is protectet by the one avr, but I`m not shure about the whole concept,

    of undervoltage and overvoltage protection.

  12. FOLLOWING a public and media outcry, the price of 89 microphones intended for communication in the Cabinet meeting room at Government House has been reduced by 35 per cent.
Monthon Sudprasert, director of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, who has been in charge of the renovation of Government House, said the department negotiated with the audio system supplier - Asavasopon Co - to lower the price of the microphones.

Bosch Thailand, the importer, had quoted their cost at Bt145,000 to Bt94,250 each. The Bosch system DCNM-NMD comes with LED screens at Bt300,000 each.

Monthon said after price negotiations, the whole system would now cost Bt53 million. Monthon said the department would help the state save some Bt14 million from the original price.

Monthon said renovation of Government House had to be carried out rapidly to be ready for the Prayuth Cabinet's first meeting.

The National Council for Peace and Order approved a proposal from the Secretariat of the PM to suspend all directives involved in procuring equipment and electronic materials during renovation of the building.

National Legislative Assembly member Maj-General Kolchai Suvanboon had said the NLA would look into the controversy after criticism went viral that there might be corruption in the acquisition of the microphones to be used at Cabinet meetings.

PM's Office Minister Panadda Diskul last week landed in hot water after showing reporters the audio system that had been installed in the meeting room.

The minister denied having any role in the procurement, saying that Monthon was in charge of the project.

Monthon earlier said the contract had yet to be signed. He also refuted media speculation that a 15-per-cent advance payment had been paid to the supplier. Bidding documents for the audio system were circulated to the media on Tuesday.

When asked by reporters if it was possible the procurement of the audio system could be dropped because of its high cost, Monthon said the reduced price was now suitable and acceptable for high-tech equipment of its kind, saying this system was used at the Nuclear Summit meeting in the Netherlands.

He stopped short of saying he would review the final price and would be ready to have the public check the planned procurement details.

The official also denied his department had procured LED light bulbs at over Bt100,000 each.

  13. Agree the government is not a normal customer, but based on how it works here. The government is mostly on the side of the seller in order to purchase overprice goods on purpose and receive a commission from the seller. So both are on the same boat and one would rarely rat the other one out unless their relationship turn sour.

As for the tablet, people who are up to date with electronics already know that the spec that the government was asking for is unlikely for the price point, not only that, they purchase through a tablet manufacturer that is not well known among the community. In the end the tablet manufacturer pulled out because they can't make the governments request for delivery dates, Chinese manufacturers are known to over promise and under deliver. The main issue is not the under voltage problem. Its just the whole thing is a piece of crap to begin with being manufacturer with substandard parts. On top of that majority of electronic come with 120/240v chargers, don't think under voltage is the issue here also.

I do agree many dealers in Thailand don't stand by the warranty they offer and tend to blame it on other issues.

    Cheers

May be, it`s starting on a way, where the seller and the government is thinking, that both are on the same boat,

so, the seller is starting, to install 89 microphone on a time, where you have no contract and not a fixed price.

In this time of installation, the press is starting to investigate,

and as a seller, you are saying, ok, my family and our name will start, to become part of a public discussion,

    only, because of this deal.

At the same time, your contact person on the government side is asking for more exchange service,

informing you, that a group of lawyer is preparing a contract, with many pages with a lot of clauses of compensation cases,

so you know, that the whole deal is getting more an more expensive.

You know, that you can`t sign the contract on the normal price,

you told him "hey, this is not an airplane deal, it`s just about microphone,

but he said, - yes, but the deal is on public discussion, and we have to make shure, that it has nothing to do, with corruption.

First of all, you change the price of the microphone on your website,

second, you prepare your lawyer, to calculate the whole risc of this deal.

So, this is thailand, you started to install your products, without knowing the price.

The customer asked for more, but he has to pay for this additional service, so, the price is getting higher.

  14. You can find these for around $2300 retail price online. Assuming tax is around 30%, the 99,000 baht figure sold by another local supplier sounds right before they change the price to 199,000 baht probably due to intimidation by the government.

As for people questioning why its so expensive? Its not just a microphone, its basically a mini computer, you can view / share documents, videos, webcams and more. But is it needed? probably not as most politicians are either sleeping or watching porn during these meetings.

if you get the microphone by an online dealer, you will not get his signature on a legal contract with your conditions.

It`s only about the contract, that causes a different risk calculation for the dealer,

why you can`t compare the prices.

    Warranty is the key issue.

If you are a dealer, selling this system to the government,

you want to make shure, that political motivated sabotage will not confront you with massive warranty claims,

so, it`s all about the contract and the conditions.

If they do purchase online, why can't they get warranty and a better deal if they email the local distributor directly? Just because the distributor operate a website doesn't mean there is no warranty, better discount, etc etc or no contract. Its not like they are purchasing just a single unit the distributor will just ask them to purchase online.

Don't really get your point, so distributors all should jack up the price just because they are selling to the government in order to protect themselves from warranty claims?

I understand there is a chance of political sabotage, but you are getting ahead of yourself now.

In retail, the middlemen / distributors usually sell for 2-4 times the price they purchase from, that is the general rule. On top of that they usually can claim warranty from the original manufacturer, and in this case its Bosch, the company that made the DCN Multimedia systems.

well, the government is not a normal customer, the dealer can`t reject warranty issues, without bringing himself on the top of public discussion, when things are getting hot.

Thinking about the tablet project, there was a massive warranty problem with tablets.

The main problem. not only on the country side, you have about 3 x power cut a month, but 20 x only 160 Volt without blackout,

so speaking about undervoltage problem, that cause a lot of damage in Thailand,

(thats why you need accurate protection with an avr automatic voltage regulator system)

its easy for the dealer, to reject warranty issues caused on unfulfilled system requirements, as long, as his client is not the government.

  16.

Unbelievable. How many have to die ? 9 dead by last count on a failed condo construction and now this. Totally inexcusable. My heart goes out the little girl and her family.

I insisted he grounded the water heater or I would not pay him. He angrily cursed in Thai and said: you Farang know nothing: no need green wire to make it work!

It is appalling that an ATM of a major bank had an electric leak most likely because it was not grounded.

Today, many bungalows have an multi point heater, with 6.000 to 8.000 Watt,

    http://ehomemarts.tarad.com/product.detail_928460_en_4928435

which requires at least a 7,5 sq mm wiring to the main breaker box.

The lack of minimum sq.mm is a huge safety issue.

In terms of a earthing system installation, the missing of an annual control of the ground connection under tropical climate is an issue,

cause rotten connectors will change your house safety.

  17. Electrical faults are all part of daily life here.......but an ATM seems odd.....of course have a safety switch with ELCB would have prevented this....."but it's different here....we don't use that stuff!"

Subject : Lack of electric standarts on public places

An ELCB ( RCBO / FI / Safe T-Cut) breaker should be a standart protection for public consumer electric.

How long will it take, that the casualties of low electric standarts are not acceptable for Thai society ?

  18. needing some shower heaters installed

Shower Heaters are not the big problem,

    but multipoint-heaters.

    HomePro is selling a multipoint-heater,

    same model, like this ---

    http://ehomemarts.tarad.com/product.detail_928460_en_4928435

If you install this 8.000 Watt multipoint-heater in your home,

you need cabel of 10mm2, or you will install a big electrical problem in your house.

The problem, it`s hard to find cabel of 10mm2.

Next point, you should also invest in an RCBO breaker, if you install a waterheater.

  19. That journey from your hotel to the airport can be one of the most depressing trips you will ever make, believe me i have done it a few times. your mind is in turmoil, thoughts are with his family.

sometimes, a good taxi driver is helping the situation.

    R.I.P.

makes me remember a guy, first time in LOS, wrong hotel, sleepless nights near a karaoke, daytime alone in the hotelroom and speaking with the aircon,

Voices, I hear voices, voices, I hear ...(voices--russ ballard)

getting mentally sick, no contacts, shortend his trip after a week, made it to the airport, and fortunately made it to the plane too.

IMO, not everybody is ready, to spend his holiday alone, in LOS.

  20. Mr. Svensson praised Thai police and Swedish police volunteers for their good work in protecting Swedish tourists and helping those in distress while vacationing in Thailand,

    is there a connection ?

a swedish tourist police volunteer involved in the "pepper spray action" ?

Expat Volunteers Asked to Pay Pepper Spray Bill

    Sunday, November 3, 2013
: Phuket expat volunteers were forced to use pepper spray in self-defence

An officer from Kathu Police Station arrived and spoke to the tout and bystanders.

At Patong's Kathu Police Station, a senior officer decided no action would be taken against the tout who initiated the physical confrontation.

that the volunteer who was forced to use the pepper spray should pay for the tout's hospital treatment.
