Now, which Asian country has the tastiest rice, mates?
chubby replied to Lewie London's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Costco had Edamame Spaghetti, but returned it, as also been having some unexplained stomach pains, and avoiding fermentation, however they had a Rotini chickpea/lentil/cauliflowr , that seems to be OK on both gut and sugar so far , things like this come and go out of stock though, I've 3 boxes :) cruxiform veges like brocolli and cauliflower are on the FODMAP lists to avoid fwiw , along with all legumes -
Now, which Asian country has the tastiest rice, mates?

thought that for many years, re: Basmati and sugars, recently started doing some glucose testing, turns out even if eaten after vegetables etc, and eaten in small quantities , the basmati causes large spikes, maybe from insulin resistance built up. here there is cauliflower rice, but personally, i'm off breads, rices and noodles , even whole grains like quinoa , here we also have Plant Pasta, which I've found to be tasty enough and causes no large spikes ; we even have cauliflower crust pizzas, but its the ultra-processed food, to also avoid, in part cause of the imbalance of omega 3 and 6s .. -

so, the place I stay, isn't a long term lease, it's month to month, the owner, owns various buildings and rents out the individual rooms , I'm thinking 1 year extension of stay with re-entry visa, I can get a TM30 though. its just a thought to have the backup of the visa, for myself its not a huge amount of money to not then need to think about Visas for long stays and yes, I may lose my health care insurance , with Trump in charge, though, it may be vague how and when it is done, right up until it happens

actually, I've done many long stays before previous to the O-A changes, and might also consider a Non-O ; and try an extension, but I guess I'd have to stay for closer to 90 days? I may only be in Thailand 2-3 months at a time , but with the current political environment, and what it might do to my insurance, I might like to have the EOS situation already set up to go , though, am not sure if my usual rental would suffice for BKK Chang Wattana EOS's they won't provide the owners YellowBook or BlueBook, they might provide something signed by the Admininstrative Assistant only.

so, I live in the US, I've no ED visa, nor seeking one. Possibly Seeking the DTV based on studying Thai but, will only be visiting for 2 months , how best would it be to do this ? hmm, did things change and it is no longer required to prove that one is doing actual eductation, but instead must now have 500k THB when applying in Thai Bank only, no other requirements?

10/6/25 Hello , I'm wondering if there are any recents reports on obtaining a DTV for Thai Language Ed. in Bangkok, from US LA consulate, (which is my required consulate to use, here in the US) ? 1) What if I just paid for 2 months of education at my school of choice, and left the country after 2 months, for the remainder of the year? 2) say I came back the following year, would I then need to be enrolled in advance at the language school? 3) would I need to not return for 1 year? to then re-entry ? sorry, if these are basic questions.

1- so don't use this https://www.april-international.com/en/long-term-international-health-insurance/myhealth-thailand Can someone recommend a Broker for the French April plan? 2- can this be used to satisfy O-A requirements for Health Insurance. 3- maybe it would be wise to join at age 59 then , vs. 64 ?
-
is there a list of "international plans" for Long Term expats in Thailand. Does it vary by country of citizenship, which plans one can use? eg an American could not use an April (french) plan, etc?

30 day extension of TR60
chubby replied to chubby's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
hmm, Guess I see now TR60 e-visa, (unlike my old O-As), expires ("must be used by") quickly , mine says "July 12, 2023" , but that date is Mute , as its been used already? does CW have passport photo facilities, that open at a certain hour, I should make my appointment later than? I guess I have 1 or 2 older passport photos somewhere, or somewhere on Sukhumwit may still make them, (in the US its becoming rare). so, the TM7 must be used double-sided NOT as 2 single pages? -
30 day extension of TR60
chubby replied to chubby's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So the dates have nothing to do with the TR60 visa expiry date. All that should matter is being within 2 weeks from the expiry of the stamped in date? 1) TM30 hard copy , no copies? 2) hardcopy of appt. 3) TM7 form (no passport photos needed?) (no copies?) 4) 1900 Baht or 2000 baht 5) 2 copies of passport front page with data, 2 copies of stamped in page? 6) 2 copies of original Visa? something like that ? thanks -
hello, so if I'm on a 60 day TR visa, does the renewal date have anything to do with the length of use of visa? Or just the stamped in dates? if based on stamped on dates, what is the earliest I can go to CW and do the extension? I have 3 weeks left till end of stamp. apparently I should make an appointment , with a hard copy of the appt? make it for early in the morning? , and have to ask my apt manager for a hard copy of TM30 ?
