  1. Prices depend very much on the brand.
If you don't ask about the brand you'll get the most used brand in South-East Asia: Osstem.
This is also the cheapest brand on the market (and it's what I got in Phayathai Sriracha).
I don't think this brand is much used in the West, which might cause problems later on if you're moving back.
    Prices in Thailand start at:
    Osstem: 29000
    Hiossen: 35000
    Neoss : 39000

    Astratech : 45000
    Straumann : 60000
Most reputable clinics charge much more than the these prices (for instance 45000 for Osstem in Phayathai).

  2. These videos are incorrect.
The message of these videos - the great Thai kingdom always had to make sacrifices and lost land to have only what is left today - was created during the time of dictator Phibunsongkhram after Luang Wichitwathakan went to visit Vietnam and he saw that Vietnam used a similar strategy to encourage nationalism. It all about the creation of the Thai identity and Thainess in which Luang Wichitwathakan played a central role.
It's kinda strange that nowadays some Thai people still so easily believe in this kind of nationalistic propaganda spread via e-mail.

  3. I was quoted 20,000 for one tooth in Sriracha last month.

For an implant? This seems impossibly cheap.

Yes, you did. But has been a long time ago and i didn't read this post before going to the hospital.

But, I would like to thank you for advising to go there.

I general I am very happy, and without any doubt I will go there again,

after consulting about the price of course, because they seem to fluctuate the price very often, just waiting a few months saved me 5000 Baht.

  4. Nursing/medical fee is not hidden - it is the starting point for any hospital visit and always the base charge before doctor or procedures. It is like a facility/entry charge. Doctor quoted his fixed price for the 45k quote and medications are always quite expensive from private hospitals - but some of that may be justified by better storage conditions and more careful dispensing (checking current pill taking/reactions).

Well, if you're not informed about it in any way (either about the amount of existence), it looks pretty hidden to me. 3 people quoted me : 45000, all included (รวมทุกอย่าง), except medicines (in Thai).

I normally go to government hospitals and have never been charged such a fee.

It's not much money compared to the whole package, but hospitals should communicate better about it and make advertisement with the full price or at least tell the customer about it.

  5. I went to Phayathai, sriracha, they said the price was 45000 all in - except medicines.
When I went to pay they added a "nursing fee" and "medial supply fee", which they never talked about before (460B), I am supposed to pay this hidden fee twice (=920B).
Medicines are greatly overcharged. 14 antibiotics pills and one small bottle of mouthwash : about 700B.

    Doctor was very good.

It went very fast and totally painless.
    Afterwards also no pain.
    Still waiting the crown.

Conclusion: very good, but little bit surprised when I got the bill.

  6. The smartest, most humane and best thing is to stop and help in every case.

In the end it always turn out in your advantage if you stop and help.

I had an accident with a motorcycle driver that crossed the red light.

    The guy was seriously injured.

    There were no witnesses.

The motorcycle driver told the police he had green light.

The police told me: if you would be wrong you would not have stopped. The fact that you stopped and immediately went to help shows you're not wrong. So, the police said to the motorcycle driver he should not lie and he made him sign a report admitting he crossed the red light.

The police, the motorcycle driver and his father were all very polite. I immediately went to visit the guy in the hospital after the accident. No lynchings and such .... 555

Let me get this right, the MC rider lied to the police so you would get the blame, and then you go and visit him in hospital???? Have I missed something here?

Unless of course you visited him to give him a piece of your'e mind.

We went to the police after he could leave the hospital. He was seriously injured.

He was a poor guy. Fixing my car costed 80000 B. It was not just some small accident.

He lied because he couldn't pay for the expenses.

He was always polite, never aggressive.

He had no clothes when he left the hospital and the battery of his mobile phone got lost. I bought a new shirt for him and a mobile phone battery.

You have to try to put yourself in his position and than see if you would lie or not.

Life isn't that easy as you might think. In the end trying to be humane is always the best thing to do.

  8. Suthep said several times he was negotiating with Prayuth and that Prayuth was on his side and that it would not take long anymore ...
Prayuth had do deny these statements in the media.
In the end we had a coup (as Suthep predicted).
    Mr. Suthep became a monk.
Red shirt leaders were sent to jail.

In the beginning I wanted to give the army a chance, but now it's pretty clear they won't leave anymore unless something really bad happens.
If they really have 80 to 90% support like the first post claims they could always get into politics and have elections.
Success guaranteed - no international problems - no economy going down the drain.

  9. I use true docsis/cable internet in the Pattay area.
I have a webserver running behind my router (which is just the interface to another local router).
Before I used to setup portforwarding in my True/docsis router so external communication on port 8081 would be forwarded to internal communication on port 8081 (which is the port that my webserver uses).
    This used to work fine.
True has changed something to their system. Now I don't get a public IP address on my true/docsis router.
The WAN IP address I get on my True/Docsis is some kind of local IP address within the true network. It starts with 100.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx
But if I look at my real IP address at speedtest.net it's a real public address.

Somehow I can still get internet access via this local IP address.
There must be in the true network some kind of translation from this local IP address to a public IP address.
In Europe most DOCSIS systems actually work like this: you don't get a public IP address on your router and you need to setup portforwarding via a website of your service provider.
I called to True, and they don't know of such a website and they don't know what the problem is about.
    Can anyone help me?

  10. Maybe some explanation about the security warning:

The warning says that the certificate used is not issued by a certification authority.

You communication with the website is encrypted.

There's no risk that a third party, other than you and the owner of the website could intercept the communication.

If you choose to ignore the warning there is a risk that the owner of the website shown here is not immigration.
Somebody (either a virus on your computer or anyone hosting the website on the internet) could have taken over the URL, build his own website that looks exactly like the immigration website and misuse your data.
I think this risk is relatively small because there's not much to gain by an attack specifically on this website.
