  1. So, court regulations state that Judges may NOT enjoy themselves at PRIVATE functions?

    Seems rather Victorian to me.

No, judges may not be seen to frolic with prostitutes. No matter he was oblivious to the camera, he should have ensured he was not seen. He made a bad choice to do his frolicking in a place with strangers.

It's exactly the same in the west.

    Are you from the USA?

I don't know which part of the West you're from, but as long as he's not doing anything illegal (using drugs, physically hurting people, having sex with adolescents/children), they couldn't care less in the country I am from.

    I am from (Western) Europe.

There's a huge difference between Western countries, for instance in most of West-Europe you can find public (nude) saunas (not about sex) and even the most conservative politician with their family would go there and can be seen by anyone. Nobody cares. But in the USA things like that are unthinkable. Still the USA is one of the biggest Porno producers and uncensored violence on TV is one of the worst in the world.

This is not a question about morality!!

Prostitution is officially illegal in Thailand.

So maybe not very smart for a judge (representing the law) to be seeing publicly with hookers!!

And no, I am not from the USA...................coffee1.gif

    Come on.

Prostitution is illegal in Thailand but the law in not enforced (and it's like this in many Western countries too).

They would probably need to put close to 50% of the population in jail if they would enforce it.

  3. Talk about the blind leading the blind. Jeeze.

Sorry general, but Thailand's ship sailed quite some time ago. Now the country is spiraling the drain with no rescue in sight. You are NOT the white knight you think you are.

"Reading books, learning from experience, learning from facts, all these are knowledge."

Every single economic indicator on Thailand shows Thailand "spiraling the drain" up to the coup and when the coup happened every single economic indicator shows the country recovering. Every single one. There is not one single indicator that reflects what you say. Not one. Not a single one.

I always read these doom and gloom comments, but it is never backed up with facts. It is a belief.

This is what the Prayut is teaching the children. To listen to facts. To learn from facts.

Facts are the country is recovering from 7 months of street violence. That is a fact and if people have not learnt that the terrorist attacks were wrong and crippling the country then it will happen again and again and again.

Seems that there is lessons in Prayuts teachings for you too.

    Happy children's day my friend.

The GDP of Thailand is much lower than the neighbors and dropped since Prayut took over.

What are the indicators you're talking about?

    http://www.tradingeconomics.com/thailand/gdp-growth

    (ignore period of political violence)

"Slow economy has forced the Planning agency NESDB to cut growth forecasts for the fourth time this year. It expects the GDP to expand by 1 percent, as compared to 1.5-2 percent target in the previous forecast. Private consumption is expected to grow 0.7 percent and investment to contract 1.9 percent. The headline inflation is likely to remain subdue at 2.1 percent while the current account tends to record a surplus of 2.9 percent of GDP. "

  4. Write a message and stick it at the message board at any university and just try.
My experience is that language exchange is usually a one way process.

The one with the strongest teaching skills will be teaching most of the time.

  5. Yesterday I applied for a 1 year extension based on marriage. I took the same documents with me as last year, but they were not accepted.

    2 things have changed:
    - A photo showing the house number and our family in front of it was not sufficient. They also needed photos of us in the bedroom and living room. They said this were new instructions from BKK.

    - The TM30 report (to be done by the house owner) had to be done again. It's now computerized, while before the data was not stored in a computer and we were responsible to keep the receipt.

Today I went to reapply, the documents were accepted and I am now under consideration.

  6. I wouldn't miss facebook either, but in May they accidentally shut down facebook for 10 minutes and people were angry for 2 weeks.

Since, 99.9 % of all problematic content comes from Facebook and Line, mainly posted by Thai political refugees and other fools,

I suggest they just shut it down Facebook and LINE right now.
It would be a nice to see how much Thai people love their Dear Leader and how much happiness he can return to them by doing so.

  7. Probably the trip that is going to save you money:
get rabies vaccinations in the government hospital.

    They are very cheap (200B).

If you never got them and you get bitten you need immunoglobuline which can be very expensive (5000B)
If you ever were vaccinated you just need to get a reminder shot, which is very cheap (200B).

  8. Most problematic facebook accounts are from Thai people that are either living abroad or that are using fake names.
Suing these people is almost impossible.
There are professors from Thammasaat and Chula that live abroad because of 112 and they have more than 100000 followers on facebook.
Their messages get shared over thousands of other facebook accounts within minutes.

There is really only one way: block facebook for the happiness of the Thai people.

  9. FB caved to China's demands. And has adjusted to other situations.

To operate in Thailand, it has to obey local laws.

    Facebook is blocked in China.

    Websites are international.

A website like facebook can't possibly comply with all local laws of all countries and regions.

It's technically very hard to impossible to block articles on facebook, because within seconds they are copied and shared over thousands of accounts.

Just look at google, it has also stopped accepting all youtube removal requests from the Thai government starting from the second part of 2013.

There's really only one way : block facebook now!

  10. Gen Prem Tinsulanonda is head of the privy council. He's probably the person that is closest to the king.

The Privy council is a group of advisers that are handpicked by the king himself.

The privy council is supposed to be politically neutral.

When a member of the privy council is appointed he makes the following oath:

"I, (name of the declarer), do solemnly declare that I will be loyal to His Majesty the King and will faithfully perform my duties in the interests of the country and of the people. I will also uphold and observe the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand in every respect."

  11. Thailand is improving. And there are some skilled IT engineers, but they are rare.

The IT infrastructure in Thailand is not bad and many people have access to some kind of computer and the internet.

So, in that way Thailand is improving and not doing too bad.

But if talking about IT we, farang, think about writing programs, developing large websites, developing data communication systems.

There's still very little development going on in Thailand and Thailand is far behind on the rest of the world.

Governments should invest in education rather than buying the hardware.

And more time should be invested in learning people how to program instead of just teaching how to use windows or certain programs.

Have you been anywhere outside of BKK you dill; try visiting a few villages and see what we have. No fixed line telephone, definitely no internet, a pathetic mobile coverage and running water two hours in the morning and evening and on top of that, continual power outages up to 6 hours plus any time day or night. This village is only 9 Km from the Bangkok - Chiang Mai highway and 15 Km to the centre of a provincial capital mid north Thailand. "Thailand is the hub of arrogance."

I didn't realize it's so bad there. He in Chonburi we've power outages and sometimes no running water, but the situation is not that bad as you describe.

Have you tried IPSTAR satellite internet access?

  13. A black cat was caught and locked into a box.
On the front of the box there's a sign saying: "black cat!"
    "Don't open the box!
    Don't ask any questions!
    Don't be curious!
You MUST believe that this is a black cat!"
Now, may I ask you, what color is the cat in the box?
It doesn't matter how the black cat is like, it's black for sure.
It doesn't matter how you would prove it, how people judge it, which question they ask - a black cat is black.
Therefore you surely don't need to be afraid when people judge, ask questions or when they are curious.

But if the black cat wouldn't be black,
then you would surely not let anyone open the box....
Whatever the story is, If you can't ask questions, if you're not allowed to judge yourself in a civilized way, you can most probably not really believe it.
