Let's put it the other way around Sunbelt.

Suppose a self-employed wife wants to support and can support her husband. She is really self employed, so no fake business.

Suppose she has a normal shop and is selling 1,5 million baht per year.

Suppose she's using the standard 80% tax deduction as offered by the tax department and she doesn't prove all expenses.

Thailand offers a 80% deduction for most self-employed people, but this doesn't mean the expenses are actually 80%. In fact most self employed people have much less expenses. Thailand just want to support self-employed people fiscally.

So, the shop keeper is usually much more rich than somebody that works in a company for 480K per year.

The shop keeper would get an income after deductions of: 300000 baht.

So, she can't get an exention for her husband.

But compared to a woman that works in a company, the self employed person probably has much higher "available" income than de woman that work in the company. Thailand offers a 80% deduction for most self-employed people, but this doesn't mean the expenses are actually 80%. In fact most self employed people have much less expenses. Thailand just want to support self-employed people in a fiscal way. It's not very fair husband are being punished for that.

I think the audio files are nice but I think the book is useless because it doesn't have a Thai script in it. I have a visual memory and when I talk i "see" the words in my mind. I want to avoid linking the words with the wrong "image" so I avoid all transliterations.

The audio quality is not very good because the sound is enoded at 32 kbit and you can hear the noise of the original tape. But I think the quality is still acceptable.

If I understood correctly there's also a part 2 and part 3 which contains thai script. I hope they will put these parts also online.

The 2 times 30000 baht not a deduction, it's an allowance. Immigration will look at your income before the allowances are substracted.

The 80% (for expenses) is a deduction.

They might also look at the income before deductions in some cases. For instances if you're not self-employed but you're and employee, you get 2x30000 baht allowance and an additional 40% deduction for expenses (with a maximum of 60000 baht). For employees immigration probably looks at the income before deductions and allowances.

I had a private discussion with Sunbelt about allowances and deductions but to be honest I still don't get it why immigration would look at the income before deductions and allowances for employees while they look at the income after deduction and before allowances for self-employed pleople. Something is not logical.

3 reasons:

- the 30 days extention are not counted in the 90 per 180 days limit

- some people need to travel far for their visa run, this costs money and time

- Some people need to get a visa for the country that they visit when doing a visa run, this costs money

I like the second calculation method better. Only 5,000 baht.

Understandable, but you've to pay the amount that is the highest in both calcutions.

So, if the first calculation would result in the smallest amount you've to pay the amount of the last calculation.

As of now, you only need to show the yearly tax filing for the natural person business owner which is the PND #90. This is used by a taxpayer when they only have one source of income such as a service business. If they operate a service business they can operate as a natural person and do not need to register a sole Proprietorship. The net income would be stated on line #1 of clause NO.10 of the PND #90. The tax if married to you and no children would be 32,000 Baht for the year. Here is a sample of the calculation for a self employed natural person. This PND #90 is filed every year by the 31st of March.

My husband says that 90% of fidelity is the lack of opportunity. That said, he goes out of his way to avoid opportunity. If he goes to a bar, he goes in the early afternoon...to one without any "female entertainment" or "female hostesses." He never gets drunk. He never goes to "girly shows." I appreciate the way he puts such a high value on fidelity, enough to eliminate high-risk activities.

Does your husband go to a real bar or to a pub? I mean, what kind of people are sitting there: farang with thai bargirls or people that drink and eat something together after work?

I am assuming you're talking about a bar in the Thai meaning of the word.

I don't think I would cheat on my wife just by going to a bar once or twice, but if I would go there every week, .... honestly I don't know. Even if the bar your husband goes to doesn't have female hostesses working there (how does this bar survive???) there are probably enough bars nearby that do have female hostesses.

I am pretty conservative about relations and sex, some people might even call me naive. Until know I managed to follow the rules that I set for myself. But let's face it: 99% of all guys that regularly goes to a bar (in the Thai meaning of the word) will someday "try" to get a new experience even if they enter there thinking they will never make a mistake.

If your husband is with the 1% that doesn't make a mistake, he's either impotent or he deserves the utter respect from all of us.

I love using these inhalers. When it's a hot day and I've to walk near the street I use the inhalers quiet often. They make me feel more fresh, like I am inhaling fresh and cold mountain air. The mentol and eucalyptus give me a cold feeling and I like the smell. They seem to have the same effect as air with a high oxygen concentration, I feel less tired when I use them. - the right to work without work permit

- the right to live where I live without needing to run to the border

- the right to pay the same price as other people

- not being a able to make any plans for the future due to always changing laws

- food: cheese, good bread, french fries, fat food

- clean, non-poluted air

- safe traffic, being able to go somewhere by food or bicycle

- quality movies

- cold weather

- a good conversation in your native language

- a good internet connection

- reliable electricity

- reliable water distribution

- gass distribution

- the european bank system

- sitting outside without being eaten alive by mosquitos

- being able to walk on the streets without having 20 dogs of the neigbours barking at you and following you.

- a sewer system that doesn't stink

- political stability

- correct and honest police

- not worrying about food safety

- better infrastructure: better roads, better city planning

- cheap education

- high quality education

- a safe electric system at home (I hate those Thai plugs).

- people with initiative, that try to change things and not just follow elder people or the boss

- people that are willing to work fast (and hard)

- a lot of free time and normal working hours

- not needing to worry about all kinds of superstition

- not being bothered by touts at trainstations, busterminals and airports

- not have to look after the parents of your partner

- ....

It's so easy to find things that you don't like when you live in another culture. But you can't adapt to a new culture if you always compare things with your home-country.

Thanks for the link. I have the first book in the series that my sister-in-law gave to me but I have been having a hard time finding the rest of the books. I even went to a big book fair at Queen Sirikit convention center and didn't find them there. SE-ED doesn't seem to carry them. I haven't been to Seacon Square or Central Ladprao. Is there a DK Books in other places as well?

I've found some of the books in a bookshop in Sri Racha, but most most bookshops don't sell the books because the children can buy them in school.

The shop that sell the books from the ministry of education is suksapan (near the democracy monument, thanon rachadamnern). They have all schoolbooks from anubaan, pratom and secundary level. It might be better to call them first. It's possible these books are being replaced by new books.

I've found out why the download is so incredibly slow. One book is 90MB! And the download speed is 12 KB/s. They have just scanned the books, it's not a vector based PDF file.

Somewhere on the website they mention that the books are electronically available with sounds files for blind people. It would be very interesting to have these sound files.... but where can I buy them?

It's not unusual for sperm count to go up or down by 300% from one sample to the other. So, you can't really draw any conclusion. Besides sperm count the mobility and morphology of the sperm cells is also important. But people capable of procuding a 44 milion sperm count usually don't have any problem with any of these items.

Until now it has not been proven that a diet can improve your sperm count, although some tests seem to indicate that smoking and drinking alcohol have a negative effect.

There or also no medicines that have proven to cause an increase in sperm quality or sperm count. Many scientific reports have been written about oestrogen suspressing medication (in combination with testosterone), but most test seems to indicate test the improvements are minimal until non-existing.

I wouldn't worry if I would be you, you probably don't have any problem.

I think foreigners are also not accepted in Europe. It's very hard for a Thai person to get a good job in Europe or to hire a house or apartment.

I believe that the average Thai person has a better attitude towards foreigners than the average European towards a Thai people. People in Europe think that all Thai people that come here are poor an uneducated. Thai people think all farangs that go there are rich and often smart. I think it's better to be looked at as being rich and smart than poor and uneducated.

Of course we have the disadvantage of being overcharged, but this disadvantage will become much smaller once you speak the language (fluently).

We should not expect to become one of them. You are and will always be different. You've to learn to live with that and make the best of it. Being different can also be used in a positive way.

Nevertheless I think the Thai law is one of the worst laws in the world for foreigners.

I found the old book about มานี. But I can't find the new books about กล้า and แก้ว.

I have ever seen a (government) website with those books on there but the download failed.

I would advice her to buy the books of B.P. Becker and read them. My Thai wife also has real university degree but she can't teach me Thai, because she doesn't know the problems foreigners encounter when studying Thai.

The books explain the tones rules. Thai people don't know what rising tone or falling tone is, they use other names for the tones and other ways to remember or explain them. The books provide a logical way to structure her courses.

Not all Thai people with a "real" university degree are good in English. if she doesn't have a masters or bachelor degree in English it might be useful if she studies a bit more English (for explaining the grammar, not the vocabulary).

I've followed a Thai course in Pattaya and I was a bit disappointed. The teacher only seemed to have experience with teaching abosulute beginners. She couldn't put any structure into the course.

Thanks for the update. I also don't know what a business registration paper is. But my guess is that your wife doesn't have a business and thus no business registration. She is self-employed.

I think the immigration officer is confused.

Business registration papers are only necessarry when applying for a non-immigrant-B visa and you would be working in the business.

A better transliteration would be: Phut-tha-thaad Pik-khu

So, it's one and these same person.

This proves again that transliterations lead to confusion.
