  1. This whole issue is a complete Non-Starter....Of course Abhisit is a British Citizen...He's English in fact...By Birthright,as with any person born on English soil.

There is a very comprehensive Wikipedia on Abhisit..which should clarify any matters.

The real issue is...When will This government stop stalling and hold a Democratic Election...with UN observers..which in any event will see a red landslide victory...The return of Thaxsin....and a huge headache for many farrang who have invested heavilly living full time as ex-pats.

"nd only to all those persons that gave thaxsin the needle.

Glad I have a safe European home to run to as i was last April.

  2. But IN the documents, i've seen, I found for the political position of Councilor (so so and so jo in Thai) is precisely that nominate, candidate HAS to be Thai nationality(no any other).

I didn't look about the PM but it is logical, if Councilor must to be Thai-so more than sure is PM must to be.

Is "(no any other)" your addition?

It says they have to have Thai nationality, but does it say anything about any other nationality?

  3. Seems like another Panic move by the Big Wigs at Thai Airways to improve there sliding reputation....Now around 26 most favoured Airline, rather than a consistant Top 10 position.

They are paying dear for not investing in better planes like the Arab and Indian Airlines.

    Rediculous prices

Poor in flight service by rude staff....many of whom are overweight and frumpy.

Perhaps they need to look how Air Asia do it!

  4. Yes Indeed...well said.

Many have the same sentiments...including myself...a frequent visitor for 10 years....in the past I hasten to add.

Phuket is losing many friends...with it's over pricing.... over building... Greed and Multi Scam mentaility.

Hence many like you and I have abandoned the place.

Of course Any criticisms made..does not go down well with Ex-Pats that have been foolish enough to sink all their assets there...with little or No ability to return.

To think in the late 80's apart from Phuket Town...the rest of the Island was quaint beaches with little or no building.

Now its Concrete Mixer paradise...Thailand surely lost it's Jewell in the Crown.

  5. Take loads of Money...I'ts Bl*ody Expensive down there...thats why they are losing Tourist a plenty.

3G Hit N Miss at times.

No decent Bus Service......No Baht Buses(Song Tails)

Parking and Traffic... Dire......Phuket has the most motor vehicles use per sq' mile than anywhere in Thailand...including Bangkok.

Very few Taxi Meters...as Tuk Tuk Mafia been calling the shots for years on "How we want it"

Yes touts and scams bad...But a few choice Thai words ..sees them off (No need to be abusive)

Same applies to the parking...Do not get involved in disputes.

Crime up ...Horrendous building at an alarming rate...Pa tong trashed...and they doing their best with other once beautiful spots.

I had year upon year of happy times there 1999 to 2008...Now i cannot find a good word for it....Oh yes I can...it's far enough away from me.

  6. Jatuporn, he will volunteer to be put in jail too

    :clap2: :clap2:

This is very strange..But it appears much of the Thai population..is completely unawares of Abhisit's background.

I am not sure if there is censorship on the website Wikipedia...but he has a substantive entry there..as with many prominant Thai people and subjects.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abhisit_Vejjajiva (copy and paste to open in search bar)

Inspection will show Abhisit is from a very good stock..and earned outstanding academic achievements..which have fuelled his rapid success in Public Life.

Furthermore..he has an English Birth Cerificate..British passport..enjoying all the rights of such ..and received the finest education at Eton and Oxford.

Better informed Thais have told me that Abhisit attained his Thai Citizenship status by living in Thailand...to be naturalised over 10 year residence..to qualify.....Similar system to how foreighners in UK attain British citizenship.

However in many people views...regardless of this...Your nationality always is the country in which you were born...even if both your parents from another country.

But whatever your view..one has to concede that Abhisit is from good parents..and has achieved outstanding academic levels to pave his success in Public life.

I fail to see what advantage Red Shirts will achieve with their point...unless they are Racist and have a problem with The English.

  7. Tourists don't need 4 Tourist visas.

Good to see them cracking down on people illegally abusing the system.

Should really make it a limit of 2, not 3. Or even a limit of one in neighbouring countries.

I understand you are only posting to provoke people but to answer your idiotic post seriously:

first: you do understand that some people have 10 year passports and might come to thailand lets say 1-2 times a year for 1-3 months at a time needing a tourist visa each time? this could result in 10+ tourist visas in the 10 year passport for a genuine tourist

second: you do understand that there are people like myself who are under 50, have money, do not need to work (especially in thailand), are not married nor have a child with a thai? what visa would you suggest to me? as far as i know the only options for me to stay in thailand with legal visas are the on year non-immigrant visas from hull or back-to-back tourist visas. i guess i could study thai too but i am too lazy

third: sure, there are people who might be working on tourist visas and they should not be allowed to do so but to reject anyone from getting another visa only because they have 3 existing stickers is just plain retarded thai style decision making without thinking

Go Back to Uk ...Or even Australia...get another Visa..If you are 50 and have Money...you can get a retirement visa....The system and rules are easy enough to follow.Remember you are a tolerated guest in Thailand...Obey the rules or sod off.

  8. Yes, it is quiet.

For Rawai though I don't agree with you, I think there are more people in Rawai than in previous years, either just for the day or in accommodation. I just feel there are more bars, and with (maybe) a few more people that is not enough to accommodate all the venues, so some/most will suffer.

Quiet in Patayya also...but business pretty good...as they have a far better business accumen than the greed culture of Phuket.

Fortunately here...they have adjusted accordingly with the world recession...and do more to accommodate the ailing tourist with weak currrency exchange.

Phuket would do well to take a good look here...and adjust their prices accordingly...Then they may attract some past frequent visitors that have given up...or found it too expensive to dwell there.

  9. No surprise, and no surprise of the countries which they predominantly eminate from. Though, sadly to Thais, if you have white skin, Latino, Russian, European or Australian, we are all the same.

I hope, that any steps taken to stop this activity (e.g. restrictions on maximum stays, reporting etc) will be evenly applied, meaning that only those of offending nations will be punished, perhaps encouraging those same nations to be a little more selective on who they let out of the country, and what information they provide to any country these people visit.

I know as a New Zealander, I have never met a Kiwi or Australian organised crime person, though Im sure they exist. Would hate to see our guys punished by further restrictions because of what some Russian or South Americans who do not even speak a common language to us did...

The Berlin Wall was up for a good reason...and these latin Americans equally Crime Ridden nations...The Russians are particularly brash aggressive rude and loud..criminal or otherwise...Blanket Block Visa applications on these countries.

  10. Much of the delay is due to resources preoccupied with the current overhaul of the entire economy..Austerity cuts due to the abhorant New Labour Government of 13 years.

Warning...You need be very careful with your pension arrangements if you declare you have moved to Thailand.

    Pension will be frozen.

You will lose Free GP and NHS services

    and Benefits.

Wise to retain a UK address Bank account...pay some tax..and remain in the system.

Yes there are many fleeing the UK..as there is a lot wrong with the UK...But there is a lot very good about it.

Take into account also...Thailands political situation is turbulant and uncertain...with farrang having little or no security there.

  11. Yes but this a minor Asia country, reliant on funds from the western world to achieve it for them..along with the cheap exploited Burmese(Blue Shirted) workforce.

Anyway they have done well...to achieve completion in time for thye coming high season..whereby the Red Shirts can wreak havoc...by burning/ransacking it and other venues.

That will give the Thai tourism industry another boost.

  12. Just amazing they've got so much rebuilt/reopen already. In a western country the company would still be trying to get a construction/rebuild permit, tied up in court over claims/insurance, etc.

i think it's laughable you compare thai construction and opening times to western... i don't know about your country, but in america they put up a building in a 1/10th or even 1/100th the time it takes the thai to put up a similar venue.

  13. Yes all part of the greed culture consuming the world.

But the various Banks and agencies are charging more than other destinations...and the 150 baht ATM charge is another greedy cynical ploy to fleece tourists.

It will be to their cost eventually.

  14. Sadly Thailand is making itself so unpopular with it's ATM machines...150 Baht on transactions on top of what they get anyway,

Your treatment is disgraceful....but indemic on how this country is treating the farrang that feeds it.

I suggest to you and all visitors...bring hard cash..travellers cheques...or Thai currency...as this country seems in overdrive to scam all.. any which way it can to the likes of you and I.

It will turn to haunt them...as future political unrest..scams..coruption will lead Big western business tourism etc etc to seek more pleasant nations to find their way.

  15. If you have a Nokia smartphone...you can download and update for FREE GPS system From Nokia Suite online....... for over 70 countries covering Most of Americas...Europe UK Ireland Africa and Asia.

I have just bought a Nokia 5230...and it works superbly.

  16. <br>"Quote" "Students who overly expose their flesh could become the victims of crime, he said, and urged parents to watch what their children were wearing."<BR>Is this charnwit's words or&nbsp; a bit of Thai journalism. Seems someone is trying to encourage people to commit crimes.&nbsp; The girls skirts in the picture are a lot longer than what is seen on television and the newspapers everyday including Bangkok streets. Funny enough in the north they are a lot longer than in Bangkok, usually below the knees.<br>
<br><br>I feel..Students floyting the rules should be made..<br><br>Walk up and down the escalotors of BTS and shopping mall escalators 100 times during the lunch hour,,,,In both directions.<br><br>

  17. I am not sure how good your Thai is...however try this.

Mai Aoy Krap...Pi Tee Uun ...means... No thankyou,Go away

    or

Jed Muung ..Pom Pi au Tumruut....Means.... &lt;deleted&gt; Off I go get Police

I would not suggest you engage in Physical retribution...as these cowardly swines hunt in packs...however most apprecaiate that if you speak a bit of thai...you know the score and probably have Thai friends...so their efforts are wasted on you..

This is just another example of how Phuket is struggling...stupid prices...ill treatment and scammingof farrang...enjoy to see them grovel and suffer as the economic climate depreciates further.

  18. I have been a frequent visitor to Phuket since 2000...had umpteen holidays there, with a partner and can speak/understand some Thai especially when shopping dining drinking etc.

I have many very good memories of the place but in the last 3 -5 years the place has been rapidly over-developed.

However most of the island has succumbed to the Greed and scam culture. Many establishments stil try to fiddle the bill...even when you have a trusted thai partner.

Very overpriced...the 2 tier Thai.farrang price is well used...it just seems you need to have 4 sets of eyes.

Even with The £ low in exchange...most other parts of Thailand offer affordable hassle free enjoyment in comparison.

I am happy to see in the current economic climate ...that Thais in that region are suffering due to their greed with more visitors steering clear. My partner concurs entirely with my views...and feels embarrassed at many of the thai practices here.

It needs to take a long hard look at its practices then folk will come back....But there a very forward thinking culture ...are they?
