Was this recently that you found them at Villa Market ? Do you remember what their price was ? Thanks
I actually lived in pattaya until 2014 so it was a few years ago but everytime we went shopping there I always saw them in the freezer section

His Friends and family could be (probably are) reading this.

You are probably right, but would his family be proud that he owned a girlie bar that facilitated and promoted prost ?

Dunno, maybe they weren't too bothered about it. :)

  3. He was an owner not a manager so it shows how much you know! I don't give a <deleted> what other people think, Darel was one of the good guys

I met him a few times as i was a friend of a British guy who worked there and like myself, thought he was a really nice guy. 'Dave' lets call my friend, said he was not the owner..that's why I posted he wasn't- and clean your mouth out, or are you just another pathetic stressed out thai forum contributor who should have left LOS a while before..?

He was definitely as owner, Knew him since 2001 and I'm also friends/ know some of his partners (maybe old partners?).

Whether he'd sold his interest in DH but stayed on to run it I don't know, wouldn't of thought so though.

    :)

  4. Although I didn't know him, I'm sure he was a great guy,, RIP. but I would never look to bar owners on Soi Cowboy as any more then pimps, certainly not celebrities.

    Not really a bad thing.

There's enough of them mostly Thai also (Pattaya, BKK, Phuket etc etc)

Pimping is pretty low on the scale of human endeavour - I think it's a bad thing by any standard.

    Not in Thailand apparently.

    :)

  5. Just to add a touch of controversy here, among all the comments lionising this guy. As a go-go bar owner, he was actually a pimp, nothing more. On the wall of his bar was a mural depicting a rich girl with a wad of money saying words to the effect of "I <deleted>" and a poor girl looking downtrodden saying "I don't". Nice bloke?

They lionised John Lennon too. He was a wife beater who took glee in inviting Yoko to his house for his outgoing wife (who by all accounts was a delightful person) to see, and he took a sadistic satisfaction in doing that.

Steve Jobs was likewise a horrible specimen of a human being who gave his ex just $500 per month, despite being worth a fortune.

In a world of celebrity culture, we all seem to worship the worthless.

So you used to visit the bar then?

    Too late

    Yes unfortunately.

    Which friends?

After staff attacked him he became pretty erratic and it seems most of his friends walked out on him.

    RIP anyway.

Oh well that explains it all then.

  7. Does anyone know if the legend that is/was[?] Lam Morrison is still alive & playing in his usual haunt in Walking street ? What a player ...best I've seen out here by a country mile ...boy ! could he make that axe talk! Even waid at his fet after one magical gig much to the amusement of his entourage !

Yes Lam is still pounding away in the Blues Factory Walking Street Pattaya. Good guy too, he's my near neighbour in Pattaya. I think his daughter is a hi-so film actress these days.

Also, I still think the Saxaphone at Victory Monument is still the best place in Bangkok even after going there for 20 years. There's a couple of good music places still in Thonglaw, but shame the big old rocking/blues places from the 90's are long gone - bit like me!

I thought Lam had left the Blues Factory and now played at Hot Tuna?

Yes, I'm not sure what bar, but it's definitely not the Blues Factory. He's off and on at the new bar. Plays when he feels he can.

    That sounds very familiar. :)

  9. So given the choice, who would you choose if you HAD to,

the local slag, who would go with anyone back in your home

country for free,or some Issan girl who by circumstances of

of poverty and family pressure was forced to go to Bangkok

to earn a living ,its just business, few working girls I would

suspect be doing what they have to out of choice, just like

all of them are not bad people,

    relax Countryman

You make me laugh. Hahaha.... These poor Issan girls.. With their new motorbikes, IPhones, etc .... And wanting 5,000 baht for a night. These girls are for play only! They are only interested in making money for themselves. I would bet most don't send 100 baht home a month.

I will take the non hooker any day of the week and take my chances.

Local Slag ??? maybe the ones you meet .....

    I'll take your bet!

    +1.

  10. Doesn't marrying a foreigner twenty (or more) years her senior then living off him, by definition, make her a sex worker?

No matter what her previous occupation/s were?

OK, so if you married a Thai girl within 5 years of your own age and both contribute equally to the family finances, maybe legit.

But who knows a foreigner/Thai couple like that?

Not really equal finances as she doesn't work (not allowed to yet) but my wife (who is 40, I'm 42) worked her arse off around the house in the UK when she was here looking after my Parents, thats good enough for me.

when she works then she'd be happy to contribute if asked.

    :)
