Correction, if not already made.
Immi uses the Bangkok Bank cash rate not TT rate

So if they want to write you up for "No money", when you have shown the cash - Why didn't you ask to see a supervisor or their boss?

Plenty of accounts here of people forced to continually use agents because another office used than their local or it's obvious the "funds" were not seasoned correctly.

Reports of fines for in-country travel are not common - though I recall some reporting being threatened with multiple fines, based on hotel-reporting history, when they objected to a single fine for something they had never heard about before.
People are told it is "their responsibility" to know Thai law ,when fined for things never before enforced (in decades), and based on a misinterpretation of actual law, which would be completely unworkable, if enforced as written. Oversight is paid-off, so there is no "legal standard" involved.
I agree.
The OP stated a number of times "Laws are often changed".
No they are not - the Regulations maybe but more frequently their interpretation by each IO fiefdom.
Researching the Law instead of its Application is an exercise in futility.

Laws are passed by Parliaments.
They are applied via Rules and Regulations framed by bureaucrats and approved by Ministers, then published in the Royal Gazette.
In reality, each border entry is its own fiefdom.
In these cases searching the Law is not always fruitful.

Maybe apply for a Laos visa before leaving Canada - it may help.

I did my AFP check online from Thailand before returning to OZ.
It cost $45 and was returned clear within 48 hours by email.
I did the medical check (by appointment) and the JP notarizations at the local courthouse, stapled them together and into the registered mail to Canberra by 11am.

There is one more important requirement for pensions, that is rarely mentioned. After the pension comes into pay, the administrator will periodically want to confirm that you are still alive, they don't want to pay a dead man.
One Canadian, who lived here in Thailand, had his pension stopped because the administrator was unable to confirm he was alive. He didn't check his bank account balance and transactions frequently, just did withdrawals through an ATM or returned from Canada with cash once a year. Eventually he got all of the missed payments, but ended up paying extra income taxes. The arrears were paid in a lump sum in January for about 6 payments from the prior year, so the income shifted from one year to the next. So for the current year, his income qualified him for a higher tax rate.
Hmmm.
I regularly get something from Service Canada requiring a reply.
I have a mate looking for the recycled brown paper envelopes.

I can't comprehend why people don't clear their permission to stay requirements before booking holidays.
It happens so frequently.

I'm born and bred Canadian and worked hard all my life... paid my taxes... .paid into CPP and OAS for all those years on the promise I could collect it in my retirement years.
Now I'm retired and collecting my OAS and CPP that I earned and is my right.
If I am out of the Canada for more than six months.... and IF THEY STOP my OAS and CPP... then I sure as hell will continue to say "God bless Canada"... .but I will also say... "The God damned shitty Canadian Government can go to hell for breaking faith with me... for lying to me.. and for the theft of my earnings from my years of labor."
I've collected OAS and CPP in Thailand for 10 years - part payment after working in Canada as a "Landed Immigrant" for 6 years.
I also collect an OZ OAP here.
Someone is feeding out rubbish information.

The form is wrong in that District and City are juxtaposed.
It auto-corrects in the summary.

There used to be a Non-Immi O category for "Visiting Thai family or friends".
I used it for my first year in Thailand.

Sorry, I live in W.A, I have a 750km drive to the airport, same to get my BMW serviced but only a 450km drive to get my bike serviced. So yeah, Canberra isn’t far from Melbourne.
I'm scratching my head at this.
Where in WA are you 750km from an airport?

..a question about JP notarization.. did you have to get every page of the original as well as the copies signed by the JP? On my last application 2 years ago the 1st JP I saw would only sign the originals.. I had to get new copies and find a JP who would sign them all. Still... worked out better than a Notary Public (expensive).. at least the JP is free..
Yes - all copies.
I apologized for the workload but he was most obliging (and free).
With the copies, IIRC, I had to sign they were a true copy and he certified he had witnessed that.

For OA:-
AFP report done online (from Thailand).
Took 3 days.
Dr's certificate - 15 minutes - only visual inspection required.
JP notarization - 20 minutes.
Mailed to Canberra from rural W.A. and received back in a week.
What's difficult?

That is not really correct, it is visa that allows someone over the age of 50 to spend a period of up to one year (per entry) without working in Thailand, there is no requirement that you actually have to be retired.
In that you fit the requirements for retirement in Thailand in the view of the MFA.
-
An Non Immi OA Visa is a "Retirement Visa" as it is only issued on the basis of retirement.

I have had two OA Visas now and with pre-planning everything was completed in a morning and mailed to Canberra.
Police report done beforehand online - 3 days and $40.
Medical report done with a prior appointment - $0 at bulk-billing clinic on the spot - only visual exam required.
Notarization of all - $0 by JP.
Mailed forthwith by certified mail and certified return envelope (for tracking).
Received 1 week later in the bush on my mates farm.
What's difficult?

Listen mate... I put forward a suggestion which has some serious advantages for some people, it's not bullshit as you defined it, nor it deserves to be laughed at. I talked to you in a civilised manner and I asked for a clarification and if you want to laugh at someone look at yourself in the mirror and do it. Don't bother replying as I don't enjoy exchanges in these terms.
Excuse me but I'll reply when I wish to - you are not the arbiter of that.
And, you used the term BS about the OA Visa requirements.
I used the term "half the BS" about your process compared to starting with an O Visa (which you knew nothing about)!

I don't get this, can you make it clearer please? :)
What don't you understand.?
Starting with any category of O Visa, as recommended by the MFA, allows a same day extension for one year based on retirement.
Try your method at Jomtien and see how you get on 555!

One other advantage of the OA Visa is that it allows you, with planning about your last re-entry to select your future date for annual extensions.
It was the only way I found to do this after years of extensions listed for the madhouse of immi at December.
Also, entering with an O from any Embassy/Consulate cuts out half of the BS in the method promoted by the OP, which cannot be done at some Immi offices.
