It would be some amount of monthly income times 12 not 65k X 6.

For the combination option you must have a total of 800k baht of income and money in the bank

    not 780k baht in total.

Sorry Joe but this doesn't make sense.

    I use the combination method.

You require income (certified by your Embassy) plus bank funds (seasoned for some Immi offices) certified by your bank, together totaling 800,000 baht.

    1. When getting off the cruise ship in Phuket, so before boarding the bus for a tour, getting in a taxi etc. at the point of entry in to Thailand,

    2. They have to get on to a cruise ship before she arrives in to port, to stamp all of the passengers (and crew) passports prior to them getting off, it would be one big logistical nightmare if they didn't!

Think of over 10 A380's landing in to a small airport at exactly the same time and only 3 or 4 immigration desks open and those same A380's take off at exactly the same time in 12 odd hours time, would be just enough time to get stamped in and out again!

    This is my actual experience.

Your passport is not stamped to allow entry into that port unless you apply to do so onboard.

To exit the ship you need a stamped passport and a Ship's exit/entry card.

Both are checked on entry and exit and your passport is surrendered for a Thai exit stamp.

They are meticulous on who is allowed on or off.

    Befriend the Purser early!

They wont accept tips but love compliments and particularly submitted favourable Good Job forms.

That is not strictly correct, for the vessel to enter in to port it will require inward port clearance, which will also involve clearance of the persons onboard, I am 99% sure that this clearance is done via the ship's agents submitting all of the statutory and class certification, plus a crew list in advance, the fact that you give or do not give your passport is irrelevant to this clearance and this is where it is most likely to pick up the blacklist.

The fact that the vessel is in port means that is is cleared in to the country and the crew / passengers can freely get on or off the ship.

Rubbish - you need an entry stamp to disembark in Phuket.

You have to actively apply for it via submitting your passport to the Purser.

I've done this - have You?

The Ship is in Thai waters but you are not unless you leave the sanctuary of the Ship (which many choose not to do).

This is not a boat where different rules no doubt apply.

    Stop scaring the lady unnecessarily.

If you live in Bangkok, the retirement conversion should be no problem.

By the way, in an earlier post you mentioned being asked to sign something that guaranteed you would never work again. I do not think that was the intention of the document. I think you only needed to demonstrate that you were currently retired, and not intending to work in Thailand while there for purposes of retirement.

    Precisely.

"Retirement" is a state of mind and you can change your mind when you wish, as long as you don't work in Thailand on a Retirement based Extension or Visa.

    You're over complicating things OP.

As one of those staying here long term I have not completed the reverse side of the TM6 upon returning to LOS from my last few trips to foreign parts, with no resultant problems at Suvarnabhumi Immigration.

    I agree

I've always treated that section as a TAT survey for tourists and not an official Immi requirement and will continue to ignore it.

IIRC the ones about 8-9 years ago said "optional".

With respect to your enquiry, it would be advisable for you to arrive and report to the Abbott of your Wat who will then register you with Immigration who will then issue you with a Religious Visa for a duration specified by the Abbott and confirmed by the Religious Affairs Dept.  Satu

    So Immigration locally issue Visas?

Or did you mean Extension of stay (not a Visa)?

The person named on the account and the persons who can withdraw from the account can be completely different.

You can have the account in your sole name, but sign an authorisation form for another named person to withdraw from the account.

You can also both have debit cards for that account.

My Kbank in Phuket wont let me do that.

Usual Thai inconsistency - local Rules rule!

  8. If you ever live here Aditi you'll find that if you're not Thai your opinion is of no consequence to the hierarchy.

If you are Thai, your opinion is not considered unless "connected".

Learn that and live with it no matter how high an opinion you may have of yourself.

Otherwise stressing about things you can't ever change will kill you.

Indians are not well regarded by the Thais due to past behaviour and a tendency to ignore the Rules.

That is purely an observation over 10 years and not a racist comment.
