Not being "approved" in Phuket - still "pending".
-
Your wife is getting bad advice from someone.
If a Thai living in Thailand there is no advantage in being "a Falang" - except for perhaps "Face".
-
If a retirement extension it has nothing to do with your wife - leave her at home then they have to deal only with you - The Applicant!

Thanks for that. I have to have two certified copies done 1) for Non O Visa 2) Retirement extension (not visa.. lol) All this paper work had to be also signed by a JP in Australia, that being...police report, medical certificate, income statement. In saying that, the JP was very amused. I made the error of NOT getting the Retirement extension in Canberra as both the Retirement and Non O came with multiple entries which I didn't require. beggars belief.
I'd stay away from Canberra..
You can only do a Retirement Extension at an Immi Office within Thailand.
You apply to Canberra for an OA Retirement Visa which can last nearly 2 years, if used correctly, before you have to go to your local Immi office in Thailand for an Extension of stay.

IF it's an error.
It can only be corrected by the Immi office who did it.
Go back there and ask for The Boss.

Ok. So where were we? What thread am I on, Where am I (OMG WHYYYYYY did I move here... It's so stressful. )
Ok so I can do a tourist visa it seems barring any kind of bureaucratic F- wittery over that... either at the consulate or the border and that gets me to end of Jan, which is fine, end of lease, and and of Land O Stress
Thanks for the responses ( and the support, most of you..)
If you can't take advice as a newbie from seasoned stayers I think this is your best plan...

good lord I must have been blind when trying to complete the online form yesterday as I mistook the departure card number for the arrival card number
obviously it can't work then
I seem to have lost the arrival card (isn't it usually stapled into the passport?). It's the first time that I do a 90 days report as I usually go on a business trip once a quarter - except for this time now.
no problems without an arrival card at immigration office, or?
The number on both parts is the same.
The arrival portion is kept by the border IO on arrival.
So it's not that.
My TM6 has two letters followed by numbers starting with a zero. If I enter O by mistake it wont work.
This caught me out last time until I corrected it.

The fine is acceptable the hour lost is not. You should have handed them a bill for your time 1000B per hour.
That attitude will serve you well in LOS - Not!
Show me an example of a Farang here earning 1000B per hour and I'll listen 555!

Signatures needed because this was an "official fine" (not a backpocket one) and had to be accounted for.

No, the US State Department cannot fix everything for every nationality.
What they can do, however, is produce a passport that will survive a momentary dunk in a puddle.
I went swimming while wearing my money belt once. Passport had zero issues once dried.
Sounds like money laundering to me - Baht in the big Bath?

Proof of income no problem, always wondered why we didn't have to before. But how much does the income stat dec now cost please? I understand the prices have gone up. I am intending to go tomorrow, before they move the Embassy to Wireless Road next Monday (31st July 2017). Thanks in anticipation.
AUD$70 I believe. Take a credit card.

Yes but he'll have to start anew when back in OZ if they determine it is a damaged passport.

Australian passports are issued with a two pocket plastic cover. the passport slides into one pocket , the other on issue has info for travellers. When I returned to Thailand in May 2017 with my new passport, I had my old passport in one of the pockets and the new passport in the other ....as my re-entry stamp and permission to stay stamp were in the old passport and I knew that I would need to show both upon arrival in Thailand.
Precisely - they also suggest you use it to take care of their passport as after all it belongs to them.
Surely your country does something similar - if not they are really cheap!

As I wrote that was the proposed TM6 and was posted along with updated TM forms for other uses.
What will actually be used is unknown at this time.
To me the new one I posted is better since the departure portion is smaller and will be easier to keep in the passport.
But it doesn't affect you!
Much less space to write in during flight and harder to tear?
-
Just as much to fill in as currently.
So, again, the reportage doesn't match reality.
-
Another good reason to keep your passport in the plastic holder supplied when not using it.

The procedure is not the same at all Immi Offices ( may vary from day to day, even Officer to Officer).
So your personal experience can be only relevant to that Officer, that Day at that Office.
TIT - nothing is constant but change.
The TM6 has two parts - one part is surrendered on Arrival, the second part should be stamped with th arrival date and surrendered on departure (eventually).
A one way ticket does not change this process.

My understanding is the Australian Consulate will only witness the Stat Dec itself, and won't provide any letters confirming income.
I appreciate the help posters on this thread have provided. However, my impression is there does not seem to be any input from an Australian who has done the income route with Immigration. Apologies if I am mistaken.
I use the Combination method.
You can get your letter by swearing an Affidavit at the Embassy Bangkok (moving on July 31st), at the Official Consulate in Phuket or at one of the Embassy Outreach visits.
No evidence is required but may be required at your local Immigration office.(take it with you and swear a true Affidavit that you can prove !)
-
Well done.
Make sure you are aware of how to get the maximum out of your OA Visa and get a re-entry permit for the second year.
-
You may or may not have to provide proof of income.
However there is no Police Order or Immigration Rule or Regulation specifying the amount you have to spend.

Next time maybe try at Phuket Immi - the Patong sub-branch doesn't like to do anything difficult.
Also they may not have an officer of sufficient rank to authorize longer extensions.

Lucky guy, paying only B4,000, in Jomtien. Three years, ago, Phuket hit me up for B10,000 and I had the 800K in the bank, for more than three months. Officer simply was being "difficult" and refused to acknowledge deposit was accurate.
In future, bring your passbook and have the bank print out the monthly statements for the three months before renewal.
If that officer's initials were "N N" I know how difficult he can be.

On June 21 at Phuket Immigration did not need house photo nor map. Did not need such in my 12 previous 1-yr extensions nor this time.
So another "luck of the draw" experience at Phuket Immi.
TIT.
90 day reporting at 7-11. -- Is it on or not?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I wish this joke was true - 7/11 would be far more efficient than either Phuket Immi office.
As they are with airline bookings, electricity accounts etc.
I got into the online site and got to the "Pending" stage - now due tomorrow but no action.
So my partner took it to Patong Immi (in our current torrential rain storms) and they are closed for 2 weeks - Grrrr!
