  1. Drifting event took place over weekend at Suranaree University of Technology campus, just off highway 304 between Pak Thong Chai and Korat city. Lot of young kids sliding around in their cars and trucks. Appears they get together for lots of over steer fun throughout the year, check out the Thai website esaanspeed.com for more.

  4. Yeah it's that Thai thing that makes understanding the rules a problem.... Anyway I wouldn't want to get stuck in the same class with a full on prepared Evo or Cefiro in an 8 valve, slightly beefed basic 1.8 VW.. Grouping would be ok but not the same class.

Keep us posted on any VW Thailand club info happenings. Have a 95 Golf here that wifey currently uses as a daily driver, would love to do a few mods to it someday, and run her round a Thai circuit.

By the way, saw a beetle club and also a few Golfs racing around Bangsaen beach circuit last Nov 2009 for final race series of SuperCarsThailand races (attachments uploaded) ; 4 weekend events each year. Believe the golfs were running in some sort of modified 2.0L max class.

  5. Some Kawasaki Thai dealer info, based on his beliefs; no digit on VIN refers to model year or factory on the Thai built bikes; first 5 digits are model, last five are build order sequence, the 7th character is either an “ E ‘ or “ – “ , referring to engine or chassis number, this dealer had no idea about 6 and 8 digits on these thai 13 number vins.

Stated that when getting first green book Thai registration, bike will be registered as per date year of registration, and not based on bike model year.

Acknowledged that there is a separate Kawasaki code issued in warranty book (not on bike, not on registration) referring to model year, examples:

    EX250KAF is 2010

    EX250K9F is 2009

    EX650DAF is 2010

  6. Anyone know of chart that cross references, identifies what each of the 13 VIN digit codes on Kawasaki motorbikes represent?

Seeking verification data on country manufactured, factory ID, model year, engine type, etc… for a temporary export import bond needed.

Seems Kawasaki bikes in Thailand have a 13 digit VIN number on engine and frame, and also in green book registration, not your typical 17 digit USDOT VIN where each character identifies DNA of vehicle, with each code having a particular purpose?

  7. Ford and Mazda parts are sometimes interchangeable, I have found on Ranger vs BT50 prices similar. Deem choosing Ford original parts has advantages including value, performance, quality, safety, branding and warranty protection. Keep Fords 100% Ford.

Some service centers in the northeast where you can buy spare parts:

    Ford Chaiyaphum

    192/9 Moo 6 Chaiyaphum-Sikew Rd.,

    T. Naimaung, A. Muang, Chaiyaphum 36000

    Phone: 044 837111

    Ford Eaksaha Group Korat

    93/1 Mitraparb Rd.

    T.Pakchong, A.Pakchong, Nakorn Ratchasima 30130

    Phone: 044 315399

  8. Thanks for all the leads.

Thrilling title football game New Orleans wins NFL title 31-17 beating Indianapolis, highlights were overcoming a early 10 point deficit, pulling off a risky onside kick that started the second half comeback conquer.

Watched 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters via ASN at Moonshine Soi 4 Jomtien, cozy place, great reasonable priced food, same brothers own Silver Dollar Soi 22 Bangkok.

Observed halftime show and 3rd quarter at Shenanigans Jomtien Complex Condotel, place was jam packed, lots of TVs though the ESPN there seemed a little shaky, sound was unreliable, hard to hear with all the hullabaloo.

Was hoping to catch some of the 2.5 millionUS$ 30 second spot commercials, but both ASN and ESPN blocked these out here? O well. Enjoyed watching the Super Bowl champion Saints. Watched many games with Archie Manning leading then Saints at the Superdome in the 70s. Great to see Saints franchise win big time in their first appearance in the big game.

  9. Thanks.

Concierge has suggested Moonshine Jomtien opening 5am for Bowl party; big screen, breakfast, beers, booze, babes, bar hostesses, going to check it out, 8 hours and counting. Hope I can find the place.

Go New Orleans Saints. Kick some butt in your first Super Bowl appearance. Conquer!

  10. Anyone know a place in Pattaya where I can watch the super bowl live tomorrow morning?

Saints vs Colts 6:25pm Sun ET on CBS. (6:25am Mon Thai time).

Staying in Pattaya area at the moment, not really familiar if and where sports type bars exist, or if anything is open early mornings?

Would be nice to view event somewhere with breakfast and beers.

  11. There is a bus stop in front of Surapol Marine on Sukhumvit by Naklua Rd light, believe busses are running every half hour Pattaya to Chonburi, took one the other day to Sriracha for 40thb.

  12. Bangron. Why are the bikes in bits?

Stripped frame not a rental, just joking. :D Though rentals are a great visual aid for piecing back together things when sometimes you are just not sure. :D ?

Playing around with some experimental go fast, go far, go green projects utilizing 250R engines made in Thailand. :)

  13. Thanks for all the feedback and info on this guys. Will go to Tepnakorn Saturday night for this dragster event. If you see me out and about in my Ashley Force tank top , say hello/sawaadee. Ardor drag racing atmosphere too much, this Thai occasion should be interesting.

Hey ZenaX I will be looking out for ya. Ms Force was awesome running hi 4s at around 320mph. Will try to find my Shirley Muldowney NHRA 1982 championship legend shirt for Sat. Enjoy going to the Thai circuit races, though this will be my first drag event within Thailand, should be good times. Trust it will be loud, hope to see Raoul with his 7sec dragster there. Expect to see some fast speeds Sat night at Tepnakorn track.
