  1. Anyone have the 1/4 mile times for this bike? My friends CBR 150 is pulling mid 17's....we're not too sure of its a real 1/4 mile though, we're going by 4 clicks on the speedometer.

    yeah yeah i know...

Yet, another debatable ponder on 250R.

Seen plentiful sites out there stating anything from 14.5@87 to 17@70 ???

  2. It's hard to tell from that pix but I think some of the bits are from the factory accessory catalog. They look smick in white or black but the new ones here are either an OK silver or a not so OK blue. Maybe the well healed can order another colour.

Ironically took pics of a white goldwing in Laem Chabang. Think it might be same one that was cruzing around Bangsaen bike week. I do not know much about these sweet rides, though always have dreamed of owning one.

  3. Some pictures of event after I realized cars, trucks and bikes were racing about? :)

What type of racing was going on? Looks like one of the old AIM Concept racing cars in one of your pics. And seems the Bhirombhakdi boys are still racing.

That concept car was being shown at Singha Racing School booth, were the models seemed to be hanging out.

Lots of interesting racing happening went on all day, morning till nightfall.

Motorcycles - wide variety of races, Kids on Honda Click and Icon, also a 50cc race called Monkey Racing.

    Pro Bike - 1000cc both a Super Bike Pro A & B , also 1000 Am race.

Pro Car – not really – mostly modified – Mitsubishi EVO, Toyota Vios, Yaris, Nissan Tida, Honda Jazz, some Protons; with many a variety of tires; Goodyear, Bridgestone, Yokohama, Achilles, Toyo.

Pro Truck – modified pickups – Ford, Chevy, Isuzu, Mitsubishi.

GPI Motorsport http://www.gpimotorsport.com/ has lots of info on Thai Pro Racing Series stuff.

  4. Some photos of last weekends Pro Truck Racing Series 2009 held 14, 15 Nov at Bira International Racing Circuit Chonburi, Thailand. Pro Racing Series events (Pro Bikes , Pro Car) held were interesting, though on a much smaller scale than Super Truck series held at Bira previously past Sep & Jul; less teams, slower times, zero fans and fewer models walking about. Still a good way to enjoy a race day.

Top ten Pro Trucks final series as I saw it with pics attached:

    1 #14 Isuzu

    2 #27 Mitsubishi

    3 #5 Chevrolet

    4 #24 Mitsubishi

    5 #51 Mitsubishi

    6 #47 Ford

    7 #60 Isuzu

    8 #59 Chevrolet

    9 #25 Ford

    10 #43 Chevrolet

Looking forward to next weekend SuperTruck races through BangSaen beach road and city streets 27-29Nov2009.

  5. No worries, Just trying to point out to any new Ninja 250R buyers that 2010 is available and is faintly different from 2009 , as I came across thai sales trying to tell me a older 2009 was a new 2010 model. Offering actual comparisons based on my friends 2009 to my 2010 Ninga250R(SE) both built in Rayong factory, both bought here within Thailand. With the exception of ones being exported to USA, all Asia and Europe export are fuel injection. For 2008 other than looking at tires, all else would be guessing. Reference attached scan amendment that came with 2010 owners manual referencing the same same but different items.

CVW curb mass is total weight stock standard equipment including all required operating consumables, oil, coolant, brake fluid, plus full tank of gas, but not loaded with passenger or payload. Presume .8kg of the 1kg difference 2010-2009 includes more fuel weight on the 2010. Believe fuel pumps are same, as both 09-10 parts catalog call them out as part# 49040-0029. My 2010 low fuel warning light goes on (approx ¼ tank) when about 4 – 4.5 L of fuel is remaining out of a full 17.8L fill. You would think this would be set a little lower, thought I guess different drivers have dissimilar views on what exactly low fuel means? Personally would rather have a fuel gauge rather than a warning light.

Let the good time roll! Peace out.

  6. Thanks for all the pix's guys. It makes me sad on one hand, cos I wasn't there, and happy on the other cos I know I will be there next year.

Hey Bang Ron, you got a better pix of that white full dress Wing? We don't get the white....and it looks like it's better spec than the local offering.

Just this one, kind of blurry. It was a humming along..

  7. Acknowledgment to all, thanks for feedback and views. Mindboggling soft vs hard debates out there on net. Myself an apprentice to sports bikes, with the entry level 250R comfortable using Kawasaki recommended break-in procedure for new machine; deem cross-functional teams publish these parameters based on FMEA and DVPR product development and engineering principles. Consider more than just seating rings to cylinder walls for break in as many write ups seem to key in on. Keep in mind valves, springs, bearings, transmission gears, clutch plates, tires, wheel bearings, brakes, …etc… ...

Been taking the RPMs somewhat easy, allowing suitable warm ups, all the same keeping rpm wide-ranging continually changing engine speed. Been putting on many different loads on motor, touching on lots of hilly roads. Using high and low gears, lower and higher rpms, been keeping it mixed up (variety is the spice of life). Changed oil and oil filter with non-synthetic at 550 and 1050km. Got about 32km per liter first 800km in the 4000rpm 65kph and below span. Now having a little more fun in the 6,000 rpm range, can get my lard ass up to 90kmh. Roughly 500km more before I start to attacking this powertrain. Hopefully then I wont be doing any write ups on laying the bike down methods.

Some interesting related links. Peace and No Worries! :)

  8. Those minor specs change could indicate a different tyre being used (except for the fuel capacity...that's odd!).....could you give us the brand and size on your ride?

    Front 110/70 – 17 (54S) rim 2.75 ; Rear 130/70 -17 (62S) rim 3.50 , IRC brand.

Believe stock tire rim sizes on Thai Ninja 250R have been same same, 2008, 2009, 2010.

  9. Hint would be to make sure made in Thailand Ninga 250R is latest 2010 available and not last years 2009. One Mityon ladyboy sales thing was trying to tell me two 2009s in showroom were 2010s and that they just arrived, another more educated thai sales gent was more truthful. The 09s were priced same as new model, bought my 2010 250R(SE) 147,500thb Oct 16, believe it was first batch 2010 shipped to there dealer. FYI only very minor changes from last year include ; color scheme flaring distinctive ; CVW 170kg 2010 – 169kg 2009 ; road clearance 130mm2010-135mm2009 ; other trivial spec changes include ; Castor 26deg Trail 82mm on 2010, 27deg 85mm on 2009 ; Fuel Capacity 17.8L with 2010 vs 17.0L with 2009 ; Timing set 38degBTDC@6000rpm 2010 vs 40deg on 2009. Kawasaki recommended soft break-in sucks, started supple and soft, so gonna ride it out unhurried (TIT) though myself looking towards soon hitting 14,000rpm red line. If I would have done some research prior to the buy, almost certainly would have started to break it in hard and varied. Enjoy the ride. :)

  10. Like some feedback on BREAK-IN viewpoints HARD vs SOFT? Benefits drawbacks? New topic basis on users hints. Novice to motorcycle thangs, and new machines, most toys previous were second hand and broken in very hard.

Anyone know if Kawasaki recommended 1,600 km BREAK-IN rule thoroughly needs to be followed ? ; (less than 4,000rpm first 0-800km then less than 6,000rpm next 800-1,600km).

No fun biking about at a snail's pace on the new 2010 250R ; with my fat ass only able to get to 65kph top gear at 4,000 rpm. Two weeks past now, only at 550km on odometer.

    Start a thread.

Many articles written to support the "Hard Break In" method and it's always worked well for me. This is a great article: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Go change your oil and filter NOW, then let her rip! Remember to keep revs varied, avoid lugging the engine, and do a lot of engine braking.

    Ride On!

I sure didn't follow that recommendation and now, over a year later and only ridden every four months or so (but some 7000 km) it's still running fine....do what Tony said; the factory definitely has a BIG safety margin built into their recommendations to prevent warranty claims and appearance that their products are crap.

Thanks for info. Still digesting link.

Did change oil and oil filter this morning subsequent to 500km on the new engine. Very clean, filtered old oil through tissue, not a speck nor fleck of metal to be seen. Very clean machine thus far.

Anyways, going to Bira now to watch super pro series happings this weekend. Chat later.

  13. True Value also has lots of good quality stuff.

Believe I saw the big manly wheel barrels there with large wood handles and inflatable tire.

The round point fiberglass handle and square point wood handle shovels I bought their years ago have been used and abused and are still in perfect condition, unlike the half of dozen local made short handle soft steel shovels I been through shoveling sh!t.

  15. Hearsay, not the case at numerous other diesel / gas stations throughout asia where pumps meters are doctored to give less in the range of .89 - .99 liter of fuel.

    As a generalisation - completely in-correct.

All service stations are tested regurarly & at random by the Thai Government weights & measures department, with substancial fines for those who have under filling pumps.

The actual recalibration of the pump would require someone with technician knowledge from the pump company, and the government seals would have to be broken.

Years back made some approx jug calculations at mom and pop stations within surathani province filling up misc containers for many motorcycle trips, just smiled at slight inaccuracy, did not want to squabble over a few baht. Perhaps miscalculated or dribbled some fluid too?

Weight measures dept would never share the baht in two-timing calibrations? TIT.

Anyway, diesel, petro distribution corruption is way too dangerous a thing to dip into. End of this discussion, I’ll stay out of it. :)

  16. Conspiracy speculation, shell shocked, consider that Shell does not cheat when they say a liter, you get 1000 cc of diesel. Hearsay, not the case at numerous other diesel / gas stations throughout asia where pumps meters are doctored to give less in the range of .89 - .99 liter of fuel.

  17. Something called the Pro Racing Series maybe happing this weekend at Bira?

Listed in Bira website calendar as Nov 14 & 15.

    http://www.bira.co.th/n5-calendar.php?tpl=circuit&ch_id=2

Though on GPI website, on the top its shows in 4 days on the countdown timer, but their PDF schedule shows Oct 10 & 11 past?

    http://www.gpimotorsport.com/

Maybe someone knows more about subject Pro Racing Series? Myself am not familiar, usually go to Bira Super Car events, seems like this Pro Series would be worth checking out.

  18. Moreover seriously, Bikeweek BangSean Chonburi 2009 was an amazing experience. Thousands of distinctive, unusual, altered, plain, simple and special motorbikes jam-packed into a beach road circuit. Great positive attitude and good vibes everywhere. Carabao rocked the stage late Sat night. Hundreds of bikes still cruzing around 05:30am Sun upon my departure. Keep on rolling rolling rolling !!! :)
