  1. Because he is a misguided unfortunate.

The sad loser should get a normal life.

You consider my critisism of the expoitation of Thai people by hoardes of Sex tourists misguided.

You consider me a loser, In what sense?

What do you consider a NORMAL LIFE to be? (Maybe you should not attempt to answer the last question)

I was taking the piss, quoting one of my favorite authors on this forum (he has been banned recently).

What I dislike about your postings is the blatant and sweeping generalisation, without the slightest bit of selfdoubt. This is misguided.

I withdraw the other content of my quote.

MBkudu: The farmers had low- or no interest loans in the past years, didn't seem to get them anywhere. Yes, better educated businessmen and multinationals seem to get the better of them. Maybe the retail price of rice could be regulated, I wouldn't mind paying an extra 2 Baht per kilo?

  2. Age of consent for marriage in the European Union - if parents and daughter agree - is, as far as I know, 14 years. If parents disagree, 16 years......

By the way, you might be elegible for some dowry, happy father!

Wishing all of you best luck for the future....

    Johann

    1. Is this right? Sounds very young to me?

    2. If he marries his Thai Gf, he will have to give her mother a dowry, it is always the man who has to pay...

  3. My apologies, I shouldn't start a rumour without being sure about what happened. It was somebody I was very surprised hearing she got the visa, and the guy who invited her informed me after she returned to LoS as to the scam. It sounds possible, though

As you know, visa requirements aren't black and white, not even for Germany, and a lot depends on the recommendations of the officer conducting the interview.

In the past I was able to help secure a visa for a person connected to me on the basis that I was known at the embassy (not in Bangkok), thereby giving the applicant credibility.

  4. Just one other little point, the Australian Tourism commission has done some research  which shows that the average backpacker spends more money than the average tourist, stays a touch longer and the money actually spent reaches local communities and business, unlike say the package tourist.

    Spend money on what?

pornography, fireworks and hot air if you were visiting canberra

Otherwise, they tend to spend money on.... well, whatever products and services were provided business owned and operate by locals.

In Thailand this would probably mean the noodle vendor, guesthouse operator, the 2 baht songtaew guy....etc.etc.

The ACT holds the prize for the largest mail order porno' pic rentals in the land ( as you'd well know Chris :o )

What is ATC, who is Chris? -there is so much I don't know.

Re: spending money, I thought your ordinary, straight tourist spend something like $100 and more per day? Maybe the 4star hotel will get most of it.

But backpackers can't be spending this amount on fried noodles... However, I agree, they are supporting small local businesses, great.

  5. My Gf's then 16 year old daughter visited Bangkok for the first time 3 years ago, and it was a pleasure for me to take her sightseeing here, except for one thing:

We got a lot of looks of the 'look at the farang with the young chick' type, some might enjoy this, I didn't. To the point when I thought I made a mistake taking her along for doing business.

She is now living with us and studying, and people in the area know who we are. But we rarely go out together without 'mom', it is really embarrassing for her as well. On the occasion of extending my visa, got pulled aside and questioned, me in English and her in Thai, very polite, though, and in a way, I am glad police/immigration do take an intrerest.

    Anybody with similar experiences?

  6. Anyone with me in a plan to firebomb the book sellers in the departure area of Don Muang to punish them for their ridiculous prices?

Have them sell their asses in a Hat Yai brothel for a week, then make them proclaim on BBC world news that there is no sexual exploitation in THailand.

    Sorry, I am drunk...

    Porno, by Irvin Welsh,

anything by Chris Moore is great, crime novels about farangs lost in LoL and cunning bar girls

Mike Simpson, The English Thai dictionary

and Chogyam Trungpa, don't know the English title, but any of his books on Buddhism are worth reading.

  7. Better go for the new ones, who still have some humanity left, eh?

Btw, I screwed that stupid monkey from Isaan allnight for $10, but does sexual exploitation really exist, it is only men customers who get exploited in prostitution, hah hah.

THERE ARE SOME SICK FOLKS ON THIS FORUM!!

  8. Your wife did you for 450 Baht. On the spot 'fines' for Thai are 20-50 Baht, at the policestation it's 400 for most people, smart ones as my Gf still pay only 200 then.

I have a folded 100 note in my int. dr. permit, sometimes that sorts it, sometimes they hand it back to me and ask for 200. Occasionally the guy gets my license and I get the ticket, don't know if they are honest cops or just being particularly obnoxious.

  9. C'mon now! they have only had about four years to get their sh*t together.

Oops sorry, it is Thailand we are talking about isn't it.............

    :o

What about 'the wrong kind of leaves' falling on railtracks causing delays?

The reputedly most civilised country in the world had only about 150 years to sort this out!!! Shut up.
