  1. "NOBODY is interested to help people"

I really don't understand what makes you say this, and all the attacks you come out with, but thanks for the link, anyway, Johan, I hope it is not a virus or Trojan.

I would say everyone agrees that it is a good thing to help the handicapped, but if you say you want to prevent sexual exploitation, people dispute whether it exists at all.

    qote axel:

"Is any of the members reading in here prepared to come forward and say, yes, I do exploit women, yes, I support exploitation of children and I support and know of traffickers in the sex industry. Perhaps yes, but I doubt it and do give the members blank credit."

They won't come forweard, but maybe exposed and arrested. Let's pick up on this subject when news from Chiang Mai comes up.

    Thanks for the link, MsNina.

  2. if you think that exploitation is ok, thats your opinion, i am entitled to mine also, so screw you lot.............

First part of the sentence is ok, sort of, the second part isn't.

Not many people you show the middle finger will support you.

Btw, is this avatar a foto of you blowing a ballon to make it pop or what?

  3. I think Johann is saying that it is not so easy to stop the sex trade, and following your suggestions would not be very effective. I agree with that.

I am wondering, actually, what I and/or others in this forum who live in Thailand could contribute to prevent or reduce the antics of farang childmolesters etc. here. Still waiting for news about the courtcase in Chiang Mai, and I haven't done my homework researching yet before opening a new topic.

Actually Johann seems to be very knowledgable on this subject, always got some links and quotes up his sleeve? Got any information on organizations needing volunteers in Bangkok, Jo?

  4. 'I would like to do some travelling before I settle down, and I've been scheming of ways of how to achieve this. '

Scheming is not the best way to go about it. Think about what you have to offer in terms of skills, expertise, experience etc. that a company would want to employ you for. It could also be a special interest, a hobby you are knowledgable about.

Or think of a niche market, a product, service idea of what is cheaper, more easily available in one country than the other.

I don't want to sound stupid, but it helped me to write down a list, write another one a week later, compare etc. with friends until you come up with something.

  5. Police shooting people armed with machetes in the head is unacceptable in most civilised countries, there is something like appropriateness of measures. War on drugs, fighting terrorism, the line between the wrong and rightdoers is getting blurred. Both sides strike the fatal blow preventively.

Time for Taksin to take his hat.

  6. "P.S.: The interview can be indeed kind of rough. A few weeks ago a Thai lady could not stand the tension and even passed out in front of the counter "

Thai BG I know did the same, she was waiting for the right counter to be available, where a relative of a 'friend' works. She got the visa without meeting some requirements. Some scam they run there...

Ladyboy, the German Embassy in Manila has a notorious reputation, as you probably realise, I don't know if Bkk is any more sympathetic in considering visas. Pilipino passport coming to Thailand no problem, 30 days on arrival.

Be aware though, that once you have been rejected by one Consulate, your records are in the computer, and a different consulate will not overturn the original decision without very good reason.

  7. Just one other little point, the Australian Tourism commission has done some research which shows that the average backpacker spends more money than the average tourist, stays a touch longer and the money actually spent reaches local communities and business, unlike say the package tourist.

    Spend money on what?

  8. My Thai colleagues can spot them from a mile away and usually so can I.

Is it in the way they dress?

    How much gold they wear?

    How they speak?

How they behave with the "boyfriend"?

For me, a combination of the 4+ another factor which I will not mention yet.

    ,...

5th: BGs like to talk about sick buffalos and they wear a menthol stick in each nostril.

  9. With more than one incrementally higher degree designation following my name, I can say from an abundance of experience that most formal education is about acquiring knowledge, rather than thinking rationally.

Thus academicians can support their lifestyle by spooning out information in the classroom while writing their next book, a necessity for an academics survival.

Thus they may indeed be thinking when writing their book, but they have little concern if their students are.  They seem only to be concerned with the students ability to regurgitate  the information doled out.

A cliche perhaps, but handing out fish vs. teaching how to fish, seems to be my point.

Too many fishmongers in academicia and too few fishermen.

Those of us who have learned to think rationally are blessed, regardless of whether we were one of the few who learned it via a formal education or the school of "hard knocks".

The curse, of course, is discourse with the irrational, as some have complained of in these forums.

Since the school was only a short walk from the fishing village I once ask a fisherman in Guatemala why he didn't send his children to the school ...

His answer, " They don't teach them how to fish". :D

Got "A"s in playing cards in the student union and were I also found that plagiarism is a form of flattery, and "crib" notes are an alternative to studying but I got my education tending bar at nights. :o

Since I don't have an M.B.A., it's kinda hard to get what you're on about, know wattImean?

So let me ask you straight, Moving, are you a bartender?

And what does that make ProsacExpat, a fishmonger or a fisherman, or a fisherman's daughter, or am I missing the bludy point?
