  1. The cakes from Big C and tesco taste like air and are flavorless...

get the swensen's cake it taste much better and it may be just a little more expensive..but it is defiantly worth it, every year i make my bf get a cake for me from swensen's because it is the best tasting+value the green tea one is my fav <3

  2. I've been looking for aloe vera gel, like a big bottle and it all seems really expensive compared to the US. I just want 100% pure aloe vera gel, In the US i could get a huge container for like 30 baht, I saw a bottle at Villa of Banana Boat for around 300 baht?? I feel like Thailand should have some cheap brand of aloe vera somewhere, anyone know of it??

The one that is selling at boots has a bunch of other stuff inside including parfum and I'm allergic to that, i was looking for something more natural

  3. Nope, they don't sell them here!!! I wish they did!!

I've had friends send some to me and also when I went back I got a lot..running low tho..and have to use boots brand which sucks...because the applicator is cardboard...

  4. I'm not an expat but I'm a student here and I don't live in a "Farang area"

I typically wear the university uniform, or wear short skirts or dresses (not hooker style tho), I never wear pants here because it's too hot..I wear some of the thai fashions/dresses but I always wear shorts underneath because I'm kind of tall compared to Thai girls

On my days off I don't really wear make-up just put on some sunglasses and wear shorts and a tshirt...and I've gotten in to the habit of wearing a sweater all the time to be polite..

Your brave walking around like that. Are you not worried about people seeing your vertigo smile or do you mean pants as in trousers.

maybe its not shaved so they couldnt see it anyway .........smile.png

LOL Oh well I'm American, where I come we normally use the word "pants" for "trousers" sorry to confuse you... sleep.png

I don't know where you're from but if you are talking about underwear, yes I wear it.

    **edit -- and yes FYI I shave..unlike most Thai girls ... :/

also you could make strawberry mojitos or caipirinhas...yes mixed drinks go well with strawberries

  7. I've been living in Bangkok 3 years now and this past week my friend has been visiting. While I was with her I was trying to get a cab from Chit Lom to either Kao San, RCA, or Tao Pun (where I live) and of these every single one that stopped was calling out "400 baht" "500 baht" to take me to these locations. I spoke to them in Thai and everything. I was so pissed but there were also Thai's trying to get a cab near us as well and the same thing was happening to them. It was the middle of the night so the traffic wasn't bad, I didn't understand why none of them wanted to take us or they didn't want to use the meter.

For the first time in my life I finally said "Ai hia" (sp?) to someone...I kinda felt bad about that but he was like the 20th cab that I had asked and he said he would take me for 600 baht!!! I was super pissed off....

edit* added "off" after "pissed" so some people wouldn't think I meant "pissed" as in "drunk"

  8. Stretch marks/sagging skin can also be caused by other things, even extreme weight loss.

I don't think you have seen this in Western women probably because most are ashamed of it so if it happens to them they aren't all strutting their stuff all over the beach or wearing bikinis so everyone can see it.

It IS NOT a "Thai thing" --

You never know maybe she was like 200lbs before and lost a lot of weight, still insecure about her body even though she lost weight she will still never be "perfect" in your eyes.

If she has a beautiful face or nice legs or whatever, focus on what you like and try to make her feel good about herself, we all get old one day and I guarantee all of our bodies will be saggy and hanging somewhere once we get to a certain point.

Love is about acceptance, if you don't like it maybe you can spend thousands of dollars on some reconstructive surgery, I think it would be cheaper and nicer to spend time loving who she is, not what her stretch marks or hanging skin looks like.

Obviously something attracted you to her in the first place, is it all lost now just because of this?

  9. i know this is old but...still wanna reply

1/ WHAT KIND OF WESTERN FOOD DO YOU MISS FROM YOUR MOTHER COUNTRY ?

    - baked ziti, sausage patties, pita w/ whatever, real paninis, vietnamese pho, korean tofu soup, sweet potato fries, hash browns (NOT the frozen thing you get at McDonald's), southern style chicken-n-dumplins, a really good cheeseburger, baked mac-n-cheese...basically any baked pasta that isn't lacking with the ingredients or in the cheese dept, pizza that tastes good...but i even crave chain pizza like papa john's ...and that garlic sauce that it comes w/....although most places don't taste as good anymore since they removed the "TRANS FAT" or whatever...it makes everything taste worse...

( I do realize that some of these aren't really "western" but I like the way they're made in America )

2/ WHAT KIND OF DESSERT DO YOU MISS FROM YOU MOTHER COUNTRY ?

-thick milkshakes made with milk + ice cream instead of this ice/milk thing they got going on here...

-banana pudding (which fortunately i can make a really great one laugh.png )

-mexican style fried ice cream (not the thai-tempura style)

-cakes that are richer and heavier than the fluffy light asian style

    -yummy soft baked cookies!

    -funnel cakes

    -peach cobbler

    -boston cream pie

3/ WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FAST FOOD ?

-Nathan's (hot dogs..pref corn dogs from what someone mentioned before) Easy to make mini-corn dogs at home but missing that taste of Nathan's..+ all beef hotdog

    -Arby's

    -some kind of Philly Cheesesteak

    -Chicago Deep Dish

4/ WHAT COUNTRY DO YOU COME FROM ?

    -USA

5/ DO YOU LIKE WESTERN FOOD OR THAI FOOD THE BEST ? SCORE OUT OF 10 ?

I'm not sure which I like better....I love all kinds of food...

sometimes the quality of thai food in thailand isn't very good....

i also miss the crispy duck salads and beef salads from thai restaurants in the US..i have yet to find one in Thailand that can match up..if anyone knows of any please let me know...

  10. I was on the bus and I saw an ad for the Gnet phones, I'm assuming that they target lower income people in Thailand. They had some nice looking smart phones, pretty much a duplicate for iPhone 4, running on Android. Maybe you should check it out, I'm sure they have a website...just google Gnet.

  11. This isn't about Thai or Farang or whatever.

Guys will do this anywhere, especially when there aren't many women around they will be eager to seek the attention of whatever woman is around.

This situation has happened to me NUMEROUS times, in the west and here in Thailand.

Some guys like to cheat, some women like to cheat.

Some people are married or in relationships and aren't happy, not everyone is in the situation to leave their current relationships.

Some people like to have boost to their ego.

I think this behavior depending on the situation can go a little too far but you know what, human beings are sexual creatures and also needy.

People like to know that they can still attract other people. Human nature. If it offends you then you might as well just drop off the face of the earth because there is no way that this will stop just because you don't like it not matter where you are.

I usually take this behavior as a compliment. That doesn't mean you have to do anything with them. Just laugh, smile, and accept the attention. Peoples morals are individual and also their situations. It's up to you if you act on the fact that these guys want to sleep with you. If it's against your morals to sleep with a married man or even flirt with one, walk away. Usually the flirting is just harmless IMO.

  12. The pizza at italian job @ villa ari is pretty good, at lunch they're 50% off so instead of paying say 300 baht it's only 150 baht...taste much better than the pizza co. and it's kinda dead in there during lunch..most of the other menu items are kind of a ripoff but a pizza for around 150 baht is a good deal...

i usually get the bolognese it taste good to me i tried the pesto it wasn't as good..whatever they have a lot of diff kinds to choose from, the prices are different for each one tho...anyways 50% off at lunch everyday

  13. I was just wondering, most of you are guys right? Are there any women here who speak Thai fluently and encounter the same types of things being said about them? I know some Thai and I know people talk about me in front of my face but I'm not fluent in Thai and I don't want to make assumptions about what exactly they're saying.

It is obvious when they look at you, turn to their friend, whisper, point, or whatever and then laugh and say "farang" that they're talking about me..

I just wonder that's all. I blame myself for not caring so much about learning Thai but I also just wanna know if women experience this too.
