What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2022)
recom273 replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Sometimes it’s quite difficult to find documentaries with Thai subtitles that appeal to the wife. This went down well. -
15 Mins and free You need a request from DLT to provide a certificate of residence, so you need to apply for the license first. I used a little clinic by the big comprehensive school on Lao na dee road, the 50B certificate was 100B, he put a stethoscope on my chest for 10 seconds and signed it.

Do you have a date on that map? We know from history that borders were moved at different times in history. Perhaps I should have worded the sentence better. My bad. I am don’t claim to be any expert on the subject, I do know it goes back to the British empire interfering with borders, @spidermike007 came up with some even older treaties, but I know it’s not just a case of “dirty ragheads” as some members of the forum see it.

BBC iplayer doesn’t produce a true 1080 file, just an upscaled 720. There is a 1080 from scene group darkflix (web-DL from iplayer) of red rose available but it’s a smaller file with lower bitrate (detail within the picture) than the 720 you might find on another site. The 720 file looks to be your best option. -
Sorry? What is racist about this? I’m just referring to a local kid, a product of the tech college system, with no real knowledge, just rote training, straight out of the handbook. It may be derogatory, but there are hedge monkeys in every nation or race. What have Irish people got to do with Thailand motor mechanics?

Search on for tourist wanted for illegal fishing in southern marine park
recom273 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't think so, what about that woman who was caught feeding the fish off the beach at one of the southern islands, I dont think she didn't get off with a wai. Whatever the fisherman did, he shouldn't be hounded out of his hotel and forced to flee. Thailand's Natural resource and environment minister should be transferred to an inactive post and the park rangers be sent on training, then all the tourist charter skippers in all the tourist port brought in for conservation education seminar. But like others have stated, its easier to go after the westerner, no loss of face. -
Doesn’t the TAT want tourists here in Thailand?
recom273 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agreed in point, but what tourist comes for 90 days? The majority of tourists visit for 14 days - possibly a month. Why not make the SE Visa 90 days, elevating the need for real tourists to visit to the immigration office. A 90 day exempt or to a lesser extent VOA is just open to abuse. -
Fibre Connectivity for Internet - Slowness Problems
recom273 replied to Photoguy21's topic in IT and Computers
They should know this, most installers study 3 years telecoms courses at tech college, I used to teach them and they all went on to be fibre installers. Not saying that wasn't the way in the past, or that nepotism / money doesn't get people into supervisory roles that they shouldn't be in. In general the industry has come along a long way since the introduction of FTTH. Sometimes the guys just do the best they can, what do you expect? their fusion splicers probably need calibration or cleaning, the environmental factors are never stable - cleavers that are kicking around in dusty bags - the fitters work to the maximum permitted tolerances suggested by cable manufacturers, TiT innit. -
Yes! I found it strange that when working in the UK I came across Thai people who adopted their husbands name, Like Mayuri Smith, Jiraporn Matthews, etc. and I suggested to my wife, to preserve a little bit of her Thai identity, we / she had a double barreled name (hyphenated) It was a total nightmare, its not really recognized here, the only way we were told it was possible, was for her Thai surname to become her middle name, which doesn't really work. Then some organizations would only accept her married name, some used her maiden name (because it was the first that they saw), and it was a total nightmare in some situations where her file would be unsearchable or missing. Just before Covid, we went on holiday, and she needed a new passport and she insisted on adopting my surname, then spent a bit of time changing her social security, bank (which is still in Thai script), ID card and house book, et. luckily its not so hard to change your name here.

In the village I live, about 20km outside Khon Kaen, it’s mostly old people, with young kids. I conclude, villages are a bare wasteland when it comes to young - middle aged (available) women. I thought for her own sanity, the missus might make some friends - she’s still in her 40s, but no. It’s usually prematurely aged “old” women.

Totally agree with you, a lot of life long bonds that are very important in Thai society are forged at school, but there must be a point when you decide that getting a good education overrides your points. You well know how much time is wasted in Thai schools, how much <deleted> is shoveled, how poor some of the (western) teachers can be and what system they work in. I don’t have kids, but this was one thing that was playing on my mind when we my wife and I were contemplating the idea. I think you might be able assist the kid in making friends by encouraging participation in ECA - playing badminton or soccer, extra language classes or just letting kids be kids and hanging with the locals.

There’s supposed to be a new series coming. I thought Hit & Run was better, if you haven’t checked it. There’s also a new series of Manayek (about corruption in Israeli police) both share a few actors. -
The camera thing takes the pee .. I too bought a Toyota recently, a pickup, the final incentive that was offered after no more discount was the camera. I had already looked at the spec of the best xiaomi model and tbf the rep offered us 1500B or a camera - which would have paid most of the xioami camera. The camera arrived a month after the car, I asked to take the camera away to check the image, "oh, cannot" if you take away we won't fit for free for you. "Oh really?" I took the camera and then went to see a local fitter who has a good reputation. The fitter, although agreed, squirmed with the thought of the job, apparently if anything breaks during fitting then its not covered by warrantee and he couldn't afford to replace anything, then he told us a story of a new truck he fitted a camera to, it got to under 2 years and the lights stopped working, under investigation Isuzu blamed fitting an aftermarket camera by a non-approved fitter. We went back to Toyota and told them to fit it, the sales rep agreed with the story from my guy and their fitter installed it for free. They made a decent job with the wiring but the fitting kit was a bit big, I was distracted by these plastic bars in and around my rear view mirror and on the back screen, I pulled the cameras off, cut them back and remounted myself and made them more discreet. The quality of the camera is pretty poor compared to the Xioami. When I saw "free servicing" on my Honda CBR, the first vehicle I had bought new I was shocked to find that I had to pay for oil and whatever, its just the way it is. The labour is free, trouble is, there is no expertise,

Yes, totally agree - It's strange to read about people wanting to know what to do in the NE, part of the fun is discovering what to do. Growing, learning, cooking, eating, making, etc something. Taking photos, making friends, discovering places, finding places to buy something, working out a way to do something. The Bombay restaurant in LA looks awesome, I cant wait for the KK branch to open - I enjoy going to Quinns, but it doesn't quite look like a BIR, Bombay LA looks the nuts.
-
I saw a post on another site from a guy who was contemplating taking a job in LA. There were two reasonable answers: 1. Well, there's a new Robinson. 2. Roi-Et is conveniently placed to explore the rest of Issan. (Read, there's more happening in other places in Issan)

All depends where .. When I renewed mine, I watched the online video, took all the papers needed down the DLT (the certificate residence thing works a bit different up here) and they gave me a letter requesting a certificate of residence from immigration, gave me an appointment the following week along with a list of documents inc. the health certificate and the copies that I needed to make that they never took. During the covid time I tried to renew mine 3-4 times, and found the office closed or ridiculous numbers of people trying to do the same thing - when we called they said they would make allowances. Your license has expired, you might be able to explain it away or they might make you take a new test.

There’s another recent channel 5 documentary about HMP Belmarsh too. This is where Bronson is now, I think the one you mentioned him as a reformed character, the Belmarsh doc suggests otherwise. I just started watching the Bulgarian Undercover that you recommended a long time back. Looks good so far, a little dated, but worth a look. -

It looks totally awesome, just how I like my pizza to be. I might have to get the old folks to pick one up on their next visit. How big was the package? .I just see one issue in the top picture. That yellow stuff?
