Thanks all, flying in to phuket Tuesday
Only a short bus trip from paradise...
Enjoy!

im sure you would keegan, but the fact is we just would not ever be 2-0 down, fact,
ps went in the 80s , both ends were covered??, and you havent told me the name yet
Its truer to say the away end is partly covered. When the big clubs play there is always an area where they will get a proper soaking in the winter.
And no mate I keep playing the lottery in the hope I can rebuild and rename our stadium....

smokie , coming from a FISHing village, and hating everyone else, would it be fair to say you have CHIP on your shoulder?ps what was the name of thier stadium??
Don't get me started on our fish suppers. I'd love to see you standing in the uncovered away end 2-0 down at high tide getting soaked in mid January imola. I'd love it love it....!

have you tried Kingfisher Airlines, one of the best i have done, better then EVE, Thai Air ect
i have just paid 20 K THB for a return in may with them, stopover in Mumbai for 1 hour
Have you flown with them before Boater? If so how easy is the transfer in Mumbai?
And regarding Qatar being 5* I flew with them biz class last year and these were comfortably the best flights I have ever taken. Much better than Emirates first class imo.

I don't notice much difference between Thailand and the West in this regard. If I'm out partying with a group of Thai girls its normal for everyone to pay their own way. However if its a date I will always expect to pay but if a girl offers half I always accept. The only time a Thai girl has paid 100% for me was a birthday dinner a few years back. Same as at home in the UK.
With bar girls of course a whole different ball game.

why are people with no money going on vacation?
Because in the west we suffer true democracy. If you can afford the flight then happy days....!
Anyone can travel now....what a depressing thought.
-
The tourists have spent there money,so why should the Thais give a s__t and they dont.
I have less sympathy for those that blow it before their holiday ends, then beg off other tourists..
If they are young enough then I tend to give the benifit of the doubt but otherwise just plain dumb.

My friend just told me, "don't bunch me with the whining English" I'm Scottish.
Aye we understand that while you stand in the middle of events there will be hours or days of boredom while the rest of the world catches up.
Normal day for us Scots really.

Well that was not what i expected,a pretty drab affair......i think Hamburg will be quite happy with not conceding the dreaded away goal though and have a very good chance still of playing Athletico on their home soil in the final.
I hope it is Liverpool v Fulham but i cannot see it now!
With Fulham's excellent home record this season they should be confident of progressing now. Good luck for the Second Leg.
Liverpool are just a shambles and I reckon Athletico will get an away goal to kill the tie.

Just what Thailand needs, hundreds of whinging tourists .
I wonder if they were told to adorn a certain coloured shirt (are there any colours left). Were they armed with handclappers? Amazing Thailand.
Its the St George's day airport party. Only with the English its hard to tell the difference between that and a full on riot.

The problem here is that these people seem to have their heads so far up their own asses that it's lost all meaning when they issue a statement like this.
Maybe the government should amend the statement to read its especially dangerous for Labour voters.
Desperate times after all....

Just a quick update, tried the Dinner buffet at the Landmark last week, found it so-so only. Looking for a nice place to have lunch maybe sometime this week, will probably call up and check the prices for buffet lunch at either the Shangri la or Sheratown down-town. Any experience with the weekday lunch buffets there?
And I find out that there is a 50% discount off during this period XD
Just went back to Novotel Siam "The Square" buffet for dinner a couple of days ago. Traffic was great since everyone is avoiding the area. The total bill came to about 1900 baht including water, the spread was great for the price. (Bill was 3800 with 50% discount, got to make the best of this political turmoil eh?)
This place has definitely got to be one of the better buffet deals in town.
Unluckily Next2 at Shangrila and Flow and Millenium Hilton only offer 15% discounts for certain credit cards. But I will be going to Flow next week if everything goes as planned!
Is that 1900 Baht each without alcohol? Seems a bit steep to me . What do they serve?

anyway, where did you have in mind to have it?
boater
As you said yourself mate I don't want a whole thread dedicated to this. I will arrange it and post all the details then.
I can however confirm there will be food and beer!

when will this be? i did mention this to SBK last month ...
can we not just decide a location, date and time and be done with it, as the last thread went on and on about location ect...
I'm getting things arranged now Boater. Will let you all know as soon as its sorted.

What are you trying to say?

Edit I did however have the misfortune of watching the Liverpool/West Ham game the previous night.
That game was part of what got me thinking about all this.
I recorded it and sat down with a cup of tea to watch it the day after. Thought it would be a nice way to spend 90 minutes. Wasn't really too fussed about who would win. Usually i would have been cheering on the Hammers, as quite a few mates support them, but on this occasion i was in two minds as some (Singhy boy for one) have said that if they are safe from relegation come their game against City, they will shamelessly bend over.
Anyway, all that aside, about ten minutes in i found my hand wandering for the remote when the ball went out of play to speed things along a bit and before i knew it, i had fast-forwarded through pretty much the whole game, barring watching the goals. I just couldn't muster any enthusiasm. Maybe that was just because it was a crap game....nah, poor excuse - with the speed they were flying around my screen i couldn't pass an opinion on if it was crap or not. Truth is, i just wasn't interested.
It was a wise decision. Definite candidate for worst performance of the season. And West Ham weren't much better! (only joking )
-
I thought about watching the game last night but I simply don't care who wins. I think with any UK team there's more emotion involved either way of course which makes it more enjoyable. Shame really reckon I missed a good game.

Aung Sang Suu Kyi On Thaksin And Current Govt In Thailand
in General Topics
Posted
Aside from the attributed comments which are unsubstantiated at best Aung San Suu Kyi is a widely respected and democratically elected leader untarnished by the corruption which is rife in SEA.
You might as well compare Thaksin to Nelson Mandela or plant a story expressing his supposed views on the conflict. Totally meaningless I'm afraid.
