  1. LAX is a horrible airport, like landing in a third world country.

Changi is my favorite by far (plus alot of good memories traveling through to meet my ex singaporean gf who was a business new presenter for channel news asia- hot chinese sing and Oxford educated (was playing out of my league on that one:-)

Swampy, if it got some good air conditioning it would be ok.

Biggest surpise- Seam Reap airport cambodia has the fastest (and free) wifi i have come across in an airport.

Phnom Penh also 10mins from landing to getting a tuktuk into town. Check in a breeze and free internet in the departure lounge. A pleasure to use imo.

  2. Keep it for sure! makes sense over the two legs home and away.

You want to give a different answer this morning Dev ?? :)

In all seriousness, i think it's massively unfair that when a tie goes to extra time, that aways goals then count double, that's ridiculous & massively unfair..

It's a HUGE advantage for the Team playing the Home Leg first & correct me if i'm wrong but don't the Games just get draw out of a Hat ??

That's ridiculous to allow them to count double at that stage ( extra time of the second leg ) & completely unfair in my opinion..

Surely this is the point though singhy. Its still more of a task for the away side in extra time. Changing the rule would simply hand a greater advantage to the home team or maybe the ref could ask the home fans to be quiet during the extra half hour. :D

  3. im sure sunseeker bar will have the world cup on telly, the tv party is on 27th, same day as quarter finals game , shown live at 8pm, it will be the runner up of englands group v winner of german group.

dont seethis being a problem , to what should be a good night, well done smokie :D

Yeah the football will be on but hopefully England will win their group. ..Did I just say that? :)

  4. :D

The one contact I have had with an English breakfast with Bacon was in London...when my flight was delayed and I stayed overnight at a bed and breakfast there. Breakfast was:

A bowl of stale corn flkes and warm milk. No sugar.

Bacon and eggs. Eggs hard-fried, yolks broken. (I like them runny).

Bacon (if it was English bacon it looked remarkeldy like the Bacon I was used to in the U.S.) Practically uncooked, the fat was still a white color, which I considered to be practically raw.

Stale bread, and butter that was close to being rancid. A small packet of what was supposedly jam.

So-called sausages, that had more sawdust in them than meat, fried to black and squashed down until they were practically flat.

I asked for the Bacon to be cooked more, and recieved the response of the waiter yelling to the kitchen,"Burn some bloody Bacon for the Yank".

Needless to say, it wan't one of the better meals I have ever had in my life.

But, to be fair, I did find the "Yank" comment by the waiter amusing.

    :)

Guess you didnt stay at the Savoy then.

Virtually every 4-5 star hotel in the UK now offers a buffet style breakfast. Its great for the kids of course. They can play frisbee with the fried eggs while you chew on cold bacon and overcooked sausages. All washed down with putrid coffee.

As for B&B's I haven't eaten in these places since a particularly bad experience in '91. Sounds like the same place too. At least they're consistent. :D

  5. Gulp, Full Moon the 26th, that means the 27th the boat to go Samui will be crowded and impossible for me to come (business reasons too). Sorry. Next time...

Ps: could you consider to move the meeting in another date??

Hi anguid I have looked into this but unfortunately I'm off the island for much of June and Mark will be unavailable on any later date. :)

I understand your concerns regarding the ferry but if there were enough of you couldn't you arrange a deal on a longtail? Just a thought really....

    Anyway sorry again.

  6. If you like Indian food then the buffet at the Rembrandt Hotel on Sukhumvit soi 18 is outstanding.

I take it you're referring to the Sunday 800 Baht including unlimited cheap vino?

Or are they now doing this all week?

Anyway its a great buffet for sure!

Yes, I should have been more specific. It is only on Sunday, 11:00 to 2:30, Price B 850 Net

Vino ? i went there 16 months ago i did not remember they have wine, is it new ? nice buffet for sunday

They tend not to advertise the fact but yeah the wine is included in the price. (Or was a few months ago at least)

  7. Surely it couldn't be Scotland. That would mean that they have had more time than anyone else. to get good at it. And yet........ :):D

    :D

JS will give you a warning for that one BJ. :D

    :D

    He's an Aussie now isn't he :D

In that case I'm offering a haggis supper OR an Aussie meat pie to the first mod to send you on holiday for a few days.... :D

  8. wikipedia also says things like karate is martail art

that taekwondo is korean- all wrong

if a country has a Queen everyone who carry's Her passport is a subject, all words maybe....

OK, if you don't trust Wikipedia read the UKBA's take on it, or maybe they are wrong as well.

    Thanks for that oldgit. :)

And just to say to bjoe97 at least I could understand your first rant. I couldn't make head nor tail of your replies today unfortunately or I would attempt to reply to them directly.

  9. And on this note i don't think the majority of English football fans have any fight to conplain if the national team screws up because most football fans in England give their club side a higher priority anyway

:D Not in June mate they'll be crawling out of every sewer. :)

Edit: Sorry I thought you said WAG's. :D

  10. Also, even though a paragraph might be perfect in every way, it is VERY hard to read if it is much more than 3 or 4 sentences long on a computer screen. It's much better to put a gap in between every few sentences.

I'm glad you mentioned this Ian as I feel the same.

Political threads especially seem to be full of this and I'm just avoiding them altogether now.

  11. Oh, lets ignore the warnings signs, the advise, found on websites, posters at passport office, officials, etc, lets put aside what is so obviously lacking here- common sense, lets ignore the plainly obvious-despite what happened here last year and take the risk anyway....

There are far, far more important things.

You certainly ignored the OP. Maybe that should be your first important stop. Not heard about the volcano on the news then? :)

  12. I use the double cook method. I cook them the first time at 160 C until they start turning the golden color, drain and spread on top of paper towels. When they are cool, put them back in the fryer at 175-180 C. I have a good deep fryer so I think the thermostat is pretty accurate.

After you cut your potatoes, rinse them well to get the excess starch off and allow them to dry.

Make sure they are properly dry. As said above cook them at 160C until they are cooked through. But then I increase the heat to at least 200-220C and chuck 'em in for a couple of minutes. Perfectly crispy. Yum!
