Why would they all choose to leave on the same day? Surely, if flights have started up and/or land borders have opened, they could act prior. Else a further automatic extension will likely be made.
right
so i guess it makes sense their hoping that flights resume before that date and people can depart -
Playing the devils advocate
Everyone who has an gotten an extension to stay till july 31st an going on the HOPE that no more announcements are made and no more automatic extensions and everything is sorta good and the planes are flying
Everyone that got an extension whose visas had expired, will need leave the country on the 1st as their automatic extension will expire
OR?
I can see this is going to be one huge F#@k up

No, you are wrong. You are reading it all wrong. Those that arrived on a 90 day Non-Imm "O" visa and who did a 1 year extension at their local IO are not included in the amnesty because they renew their extension every year at the local IO and do not have to leave the country and they get an 1 year extension stamp in their passport. Those that have arrived on any visa that requires them to leave Thailand in the time frame of their visa (30 day, 60 day, 90 day) are covered by this amnesty because the borders are closed for them to be able to leave Thailand and they get a permission to stay stamp in their passport. They are two different stamps and you are mixing your extensions and your permission to stay stamps up and their meanings.
exactly what i meant and said ++
also
Quote"Entered Thaliand with a visa and were permitted to stay until at least 26th March "
so even those who entered with a 1 year visa and it will expire, will be granted amnesty until end of july at which point they will need leave as they currently cant.
yet cornishcarlos has a problem with this...and wants keep hacking at this "permission to stay" thing which goes without saying
All 1 year extensions state
"Extension of stay permitted up to xxxxx (date)
If ur on a 1 year EXTENSION...this amnesty does not apply to you and you must renew as you did the year before. Immigration is open for business as usual
I'm done with those that just want argue for arguing sake...
Do what you want

Could perhaps all of these chains building new hotels formulated a plan a number of years ago based on projections, ROI etc. etc. Surely all of these chains plan things out a few years in advance and not just make a random plan on a spur of the moment as to where to build and expand.
of course,
my post was about the fact phuket has not been dying, (discounting the current situation)
What will happen in the future>>no idea
BUT i think 3-5 star places will be hurting till at least high season 2021 as those that fill those rooms from around the world, (except the Chinese who will flock back in June ???? ) will not have the bucks to travel and vacation anywhere

if phuket is dying as many said.
Why are so many big hotel chains building new 4 star hotels/resorts and taking over old hotels/resorts an remodeling them on the island and Laguna, seems constantly building more condos, 4-5 star hotels/resorts as well?
PLUS look at the $$ being spent on roads on the west coast..
Ahh never mind, those here know more than the investors.. ????Once Thailand opens and you can fly again, traveling in 2020 will be great, low crowds, discount prices etc
pS;
travel in Burma & laos has been increasing yearly for more than a few years

Mmmmmm, think you might have that wrong yourself...
Whilst you may have a visa, you are in Thailand on a permission to stay.
Eg, Non Imm O multi entry visa, valid for 1 year. However, each permission to stay is only 90 days, then you must leave or extend your permission to stay.
<deleted>
please stop with ur nonsense
I have a 1 year extension, valid for 1 yearI only need report (online, by mail or in person ) that i am still at the same address
QuoteAll those permissions to stay are automatically extended until 31st July, neither the ministerial order, nor immigration bureau said that this only applies to some permissions of stay.
WRONG,if ur here on a EXTENSION, you need get a new extension when ur current extension is up,
NO Amnesty!!

You are the same as everybody else.
100% wrong
there people here on 1 year multi entry NON B visas, 1 year non O visas, 90 day O visas, 90 day B visas, tourists visas an 30 day visa exempt stamps
there also people here on 1 year EXTENSIONS based on O or B visas
I'd call the elite people and ask them

i was here as well an although it severely affected a few west coast towns ( Patong, Kamala, Bang Tao, Laguna)
the rest of the island was fine.Recall driving into phuket town the 27th and some people didn't even know what had happened < In Kamala all electric was out for a few days but i had a generator an many of us leaned what had happened via cnn..
It did NOT recover for awhile an even the high season of 2005/6 was way down.
Difference now is the world is affected and many of those that travel to se asia, Thailand, Phuket, wont have the $$ to come, so expect 18 months till things are back to semi normal.
if you own a business and ur renting the shop space, prepare ursleve

Let's hope the improvement continues and restrictions can be eased nationally at the start of May.
The suggestion that Chonburi, Bangkok, Phuket and other areas that have recorded the most cases should be kept locked down until June may sound sensible, but a balance has to be made between the relatively tiny number of cases involved and the suffering that another six weeks of lockdown will cause untold thousands people. Suicides among Thais are already rising (or so the GF tells me, that fact doesn't seem to make headlines in the farang media), and forcing the poorest people to rely on daily food handouts isn't only demeaning to them, it may also be harming their and their children's health through insufficient nutrition.
here in phuket the governor has already announced a end to the lock down may 1st
God, i hope so

His issue is more common than reported.
He renewed his extension on a Passport expiring in less than a year.
Immigration cannot extend beyond the validity of the Passport.
He failed to notice the renewal date, assuming it was for 1 year the same as his previous extensions.
i never thought anyone would even walk out of immigration office without looking at what stamp they were given.
be it an extension, reentry permit,90 day report.... anything!!!
But guess i was wrong

33 days overstay
Go asap to immigration and play the stupid, sorry farang game.
A fiend of mine, (here in Phuket) a few years ago screwed up and went to do his retirement extension 4 days after his previous extension expired..
the officer said he would need go out an get a new visa and start over, he than asked him how much it would cost him to fly to Penang, stay, get a new o visa an return and than "offered" to fix it for 10,000 baht ????
He was happy to pay as his farang wife's extension was also tied to his, so both of them would have needed to leave.

As usual a possible double standard .
why should the thai goverment pay for tourists?
99% of the tourists had a chance to get out, but Chose to remain.
