Spoke too soon. It seems that the Governor has now closed all Phuket's beaches!
Just as numbers have become manageable he takes this decision. i really don't get what he is gaining by doing this. It's the only thing left to enjoy in Phuket right now so why not leave the few remaining tourists a little pleasure while they're waiting for their flights home.
Meantime, the crowds at the Immigration Office continue unabated.
Oh, he's also closed the zoo and all animal shows, so that is at least one good thing.
Just went down to Kamala beach, people in the water, siting, walking>
stopped in the police station and asked , he told me its closed, but they will not be enforcing it except after 8pm
I feel why close it anyway? Easy to stay 2, 3, 4 meters away's from anyone, the virus wont transmit in the water. -
Just had a look at Kamala, if you did not read thaivisa or go online, u'd not know the beach is closed,
No signs, people out in the water, kayaking, walking along the nearly empty beach..
Cant see them stopping anyone

There's hardly anyone there, 5 meters social distance is easy.
With a curfew in effect this decision doesn't make any sense to me.
agree, yesterday afternoon on kamala, no chairs, no jet skis, no massage
nothing but the sea an sand and less than 100 people.

it was open today in Kamala
noticed,
yesterday they had many beach chairs up,
today all wrapped up, guess thats the end of high season ????
I'd say less than 100 people on the beach
Now if someone can just figure out How to get rid of those african french speakers that rent those big bikes and love to zoom along, weaving in and out of traffic, running red lights etc etc without helmets or shirts
Quote8pm to 3am, what bizarre times arent most people asleep then anyway
most small shops, and market stallholders travel to phuket town market before dawn to make it back to their own markets to set up so 3 am makes perfect sense

did you really go to Family court ?
Court force you 2 mediation sessions or attempts (if other party does not show up), in the hope you can resolve your divorce before going full court
as said before, ex and family don't need or want my money, they have 10 to 99x more
ex plan is : my exit out of Thailand and immigration is doing a great job helping them (+ connected)
worst NIGHTMARE scenario
YES, i really did>> why would i Lie about it?
Full court? in Phuket family court, it was just me, my lawyer, 3 judges, (2 ladies, 1 man) and the person transcribing the words spoken
F#@K a mediator,

call me stupid, but It was with mediator, the court prefers to sort out things than to go full trial ... you have to do this 2 times before going full trial... I wish I had...
ex agreed that I could stay, LIVE in the house (she moved out) to raise my child till 20 years old.
I gave up the fight for our 2 houses for this "RIGHT" (down 15 million baht)
I asked sole custody, but the agreement made with mediator was shared custody as my ex pretended she wanted to care also for the child... on paper
my child saw the mother, in 365 days, less than 12 hours in 3 visits, last one dating july 2019 when she came with Police to try to evict my mother that was on a holiday to visit me and her grandchild !
It is only possible in Thailand if ex is poor and wants to SELL the child... sad but true
Now asking or trying sole custody , answer from 1 honest lawyer : only if the mother would beat up the child during her shared custody, would a judge even consider to change the custody to sole... most cases, the judge sees no reason to change it and the case is thrown out, together with the spend money on the attempt...
This wont help you but might help the next one that gets a S#@T wife
You had a lousy lawyer,
With mine,( NO mediator, whta the F#@K did u have one for?) we went to court once, I stood up in front of the 3 judges and explained why i wanted divorce and sole custody, (ex ran off an deserted us), took about 45 minutes, (Ex never bothered to show up an the court fined her 1,000 baht). Week later had the divorce papers and sole custody papers, cost total 50,000 baht
Sorry for ur unfortunate luck.

NOT officially,
they are "asking" everyone stay at home this weekend and also between 8pm an 5 am.
How would they know if ur a tourist or a local expat?
Kamala last night at 8:30 was eerie, very quiet but still places open (Big C, tesco, 7/11's, restaurants doing take away) even a few side street restaurants still doing sit down food

just curious why you did not get the family court to grant you sole custody of ur child, same time you got divorced ? Once you have that ur ex is 100% out of the picture. Never need her signature for anything,
Thats what i did, since than never any problems

my situation, would love some feedback.
I did my last extension last year, after i got i, i withdrew 500,000 from my 800,000
<i needed the baht>
so i assume if i try an get another extension i would be refused as did not keep the whole 800,000 in the bank for 3 months after the extension was issued. My Plans had been to travel to Penang and get a 1 year visa, (i will have the 800,000 in the bank again)
so what happens if i cant travel out and get the visa? Could i get an extension with the US embassy letter, (i suspect not)Anyone know any agents around?
-
90 day reporting, if on a retirement EXTENSION
90 day no reporting, but must leave every 90 days if on a 1 year Non O VISA
so if you cant leave, what happens?

I'm in the same position as fondue zoo, but a guardian non 'o' visa. I wrote my US embassy a few days ago and got the generic letter. After reading a bit here, I e-mailed again and got a 'personalized' letter within a few hours with my name, DOB, and passport number on it.
It was very quick. I sent the e-mail about 6.30 this morning and had the new one before 10.00 am. The 'personalization' is nothing that I couldn't have done myself to the 1st one sent to me, as it's only my details added to the bottom of the generic letter (risking forgery) but at least now I can bring it up on my e-mail and show immi CW proof that it came from US embassy. I'm going to try to go to CW tomorrow, missus and kids in tow (unfortunately).
Good luck everyone. Please stay safe.

The Phuket Disease Control Office issued an announcement a few hours ago that all restaurants are to close their dining areas and do pickup and delivery only. This info is direct from my lawyer who has been keeping an eye on the situation for my company and all of the restaurants on the island.
This is his information, but please be conscious of his time if you contact him. He has done a lot of things for free to monitor the situation for everyone:

Just to confirm , Did my renewal at Savannakhet of my 1 Year non-O multiple entry visa for retirement purposes on Monday/Tuesday of this Week.
Documents provided :-
1) 2 copies of Passport photo/data page
2) 1 copy of UK State Pension letter.
3) Thai Bank statement.
4) 5,000 Baht
This is the same as I presented 15 Months ago when I last applied.
I am not sure whether 3) is a requirement or not , I was asked to provide this last time , so did so again this time , as also my State Pension does not amount to 800,000baht/pa , so the Bank statement makes up for the shortfall.
need show 800,000 in the bank? right?
didn't need the original book?
Great that you can do the combo method there

Somewhat off topic, but you state that you have been doing border-runs to Laos to get a 90-day Non Imm O - retirement Visa, this in order in mean-time to build up 12 months of 65K transfers which will enable you to apply for the 1-year extension for your Non Imm O - retirement Visa.
But why did you not apply at the Savannakhet consulate for the 1-year MultipleEntry Non Imm O - retirement Visa? The application requirements are identical as for the 90-day SingleEntry Non Imm O - retirement Visa, only difference being the fee (5.000 THB for the 1-year ME vs 2.000 THB for the 90-day SE). With that 1-year MultipleEntry Non-Imm O - retirement Visa there is also no need for keeping money locked up in a thai bank, no need to apply for the 1-year extension, no need for Re-Entry permits and no need for 90-day reports. Only drawback being that that Visa only provides you with a 90-day permission to stay, after which you need to do a border-run (can be done same day) which will provide you once again with 90-days permission to stay. Timed right you can get 15 months of stay out of that Visa without any IO-hassle.
I thought ONLY Penang issued a 1 year NON O VISA based on being over 50?

How many embassies are issuing letters, I know the American Embassy has shut down there appointment system as of today, so how are you going to get a letter to satisfy immigration
plus would entail getting a flight up and back to bangkok to be told, "sorry, we are unable to issue this letter?

even Thais need certificate AND visit their embassy and get a piece of paper saying they are thai (you think a passport would be enough?)

I just got in to Cambodia last night on a VOA. Israeli passport. They actually held me up and had some discussions when they realized I have dual passports (US) but eventually let me in. Boarding took 20 minutes as well while they were making phone calls to check if an Israeli passport would be allowed in. It's 100% based on passport country so don't bother if you're from Europe, US, etc.
Later this morning I will try my luck going back to Thailand before the medical certificate requirement kicks in for passengers from Cambodia. Technically they should allow it, but who knows if air crew and immigration officers are aware. Too much chaos with these daily changes. I'm almost tempted to just say <deleted> it and stay in Cambodia until they get their heads out of their asses.
On another note, Thai embassy in Cambodia has on their web page:
"Please note that these requirements do not apply to land border crossings. According to our latest information on 19 March 2020, land border crossings are still possible without requiring medical certificate or travel insurance. However, each land border crossing may change its requirements without prior notice."Is this true?? or did the rules change since again? ...
