This just in: Trump's appeal of the 83.3 million dollar judgement has been rejected. Kind of got lost amongst all the other Trump legal matters. I wonder if he's tired of all the winning yet.

You need to get a pair of the gold running shoes. Wait until you see the looks you get wearing them.

You need to hire a property manager. I pay 9% of the gross for this. They find tenants, handle maintenance, etc.

Go get them Joe!

That's what I thought too. Wrong!
Last year, on EVA Air, in Premium and Star Alliance Gold member, I rocked up at Heathrow check-in with 29kgs. They wanted to charge me £110 GBP. I said but my allowance is at least 50kgs. They said yes sir but maximum piece weight is 23kgs. You can have 3 pieces of 23kgs making total of 69kgs. I said I just want one case at 29kgs they said NO! Not allowed. One of the non-airline employees suggested I ask the airline for a cardboard box for the "excess". A manager brought out a box, scissors, pen and tape so I could repack 10kgs into the second piece. What a waste of time and effort. I was flabbergasted but complied. At least Thai Airways at Heathrow never have this issue (32kgs max no question - unless on a restricted/saver ticket).
I fly Eva all the time. I get 2 bags, 32kg each included in the fare. That's business class though, but it does prove they take bags over 23kg. I guess in cattle class that may not apply.

Someone asked and I didn't see a clear response.
What is/are the test(s) that can determine if someone has HP?
Yes, you can get an endoscopy and they can take samples, but that seems quite cumbersome and likely expensive. There's apparently a breath test, and maybe other mechanisms able to determine whether the bacteria is present.
So if someone knowledgeable could tell the tests, and which are available in Thailand, and maybe the estimated cost, it would be greatly appreciated.

To add to the earlier comments on the SRRV visa, if you are retired military from a historic ally of the Philippines (such as the U.S.), and are age 50+ with $1,000+ monthoy pension, the deposit requirement is just $1,500. This covers the applicant and up to 2 dependents. I believe that the $1,400 application fee still applies but am not certain of that.
Important to note also that the SRRV allows the visa holder to work in the Philippines.
The SRRV is a lifetime visa. I believe that there may be a modest renewal fee every 1-3 years (?).
Other benefits:
- Indefinite stay with multiple-entry and exit privileges.
- Exemption from the Philippine Bureau of Immigration ACR-I Card (Annual Report).
- Exemption from customs duties and taxes for importing household goods and personal effects worth up to $7,000.
- Exemption from Student Visa/Study Permit. Your children can study in the Philippines without a visa.
- Access to the Greet & Assist Program at selected Philippine airports.
- Free subscription to the PRA Newsletter.
- Discount privileges from PRA accredited Merchant Partners.
- Free assistance in transacting with other government agencies.
- Entitlement to PHILHEALTH benefits & privileges.
It looks like there's a $360 yearly fee for the SRRV. So essentially the same cost as getting your tourist visa extended. From the govt link on srrv:

I watch CNN regularly and the only false info there is from the Republican pundits who spin their nonsense anywhere that they can.

Everyone misses the point behind QR codes. There is no chance of theft by the merchant's employees if they don't get to handle cash. Inconvenience for customers is irrelevant.

I will wait a little while and see what's best, I have just opened a new account with another bank and kept my Bangkok bank account open but only a deposit account as I transfer funds to my Bangkok bank from my UK bank through Wise.
You have an ATM card at the new bank or are you using QR codes as I suggested? You're not fixing anything by just getting an ATM at another bank.

I like the idea of deactivating the debit card when it's not in use, I will just need to look through the app and find out how to deactivate the card then activate it when needed.
Better to cut it up and don't get a new one. Use QR codes for payments and cardless withdrawal for cash.

Have your friend “wise“ the money to your account as he needs it, and then you can give it to him. No need to keep more in hand than he needs for a few days. This would greatly reduce the pain if it is lost.

Meanwhile, outside the courthouse, a likely Trump supporter set him/herself on fire.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/apr/19/trump-trial-person-fire
A person set themselves on fire on Friday lunchtime outside the lower Manhattan courthouse where Donald Trump is on trial in a hush-money case.
Pictures of someone in flames were carried live on television and spread on X, the social media network formerly known as Twitter.
The incident occurred just as Judge Juan Merchan was recessing for lunch on the third day of the former president’s trial for fraud, shortly after a full jury of 12, and six alternates, were seated.

I don't know if things changed but he was a tough guy to get an appointment with some years back.
Yes, and there's a reason for that. Go to a bad dentist and get your appointment for tomorrow.
I think if he walked in he could probably get a 5 minute evaluation relatively quickly, like within an hour. My appointment for 3 crowns (about 1 hour) was about 3 weeks out from the evaluation.

Yes thanks
I will have to do some research in this crown process, in the email they say between 10,000 to 15,000 baht if I'm reading it correctly.
I'm not sure what sort of crown that buys?
Might be plastic for that price ?
It all depends on the dentist. The dentist that sent you the email says 5k for prep plus the crown cost. Go see Dr Warin. Get an evaluation, maybe as a walk-in, and he'll advise the proper treatments and set up the required appointments.

Yes I noticed a lot of recommendations for Dr Warin
I expanded my response while you were obviously typing this in. Please reread.

What dentist in Pattaya sent you this response? Make an appointment with Dr Warin on Klang for an accurate response. I had a broken tooth under a crown and his wife wanted to do a root canal. Dr Warin looked at it and put in a couple of pins instead in about 15 minutes. 4 or 5 years later and all still ok. I think the charge was about 500bt.
My Canadian dentist said he would have done a root canal. It's all in the Benjamins baby.
Oh, and about the type of crown, it depends on the location in your mouth. Front teeth are typically e-max and rear teeth are zircon. Be aware the zircon crowns are very strong and will destroy a normal tooth if it is in contact. I tend to also crown the opposing tooth with zirconia if there's contact. Last time the costs with my dentist was 9k for the zirconia and 8k for the e-max, all in.

Funny, San Miguel Light with the lemon stuck in, was the go to drink for all the bar girls in Pattaya in the years I was there. Seems their marketing also made it in Thailand.
You trust bar girls to be able to discern good beer?

and it came with 2 free bottles of ice cold San Miguel beer.
You say that as if it's a plus. San Miguel beer, especially the light variety, is horrid. There was a Manila light that was actually pretty good last time I was there. It was hard to find. I guess San Miguel marketing has locked up the market through payoffs, etc. The payoffs have expanded to Thailand where you cannot get the palatable tiger light and singha light anymore also. Plus, the SM beer gives me a headache, while the others mentioned don't.

I, of course, prefer small breasts. And detest any fake ones.
