  1. It may vary by individual IO office. This post was originally in the Samui thread and was moved here. On Samui, if you want access to immigration for any reason, then you meed to show a TM 30 report on the new system. (At least that is what we have found so far.)
  2. You should be on the new system. Immigration have asked that everyone goes onto it. In a real world, where systems are checked thoroughly, the old database should have ben migrated to the new database but....... I would definitely enter your details on the new system if I were you. You will need to re-register.
  3. I have three Samsung fridges. Happy with all of them. Inverter models are more quiet.
  4. Maybe because they are not all native English speakers. I am not sure that American/English counts. 😉
  5. Your example of one is not a great cross selection of teachers in Thailand. The International schools near me (3) employ almost only Brits. So what does that prove? Nothing.
  6. Thailand wants NATIVE English speaking teachers for the best education. Yes - there are probably lots more Brits teaching in Thailand than other nationalities. Not sure what 'filthy perverts' you are on about. It looks like a young 16 year old foreign girl fell in love with her teacher. Not unusual. Went back to his place a number of times and had a passionate time with him. Parents found out and some 10 years later, want him prosecuted for 'taking her from her parents without their permission'.
  7. In a different newspaper report, it was said that the parents waited until the girl finished her education as they did not want her to be distracted. As you say - strange story.
  8. Total corruption on the part of Thailand supporting the rich overlords in Burma. Very sad.
  9. But the rich get more rich and the poor get more sick
  10. I did. Reread my question. How many tourists care about what happened in 1961. It's a big sign saying 'beware of sharks!' Duh!
  11. Ignoring the potential for scams, why would any resort town want to imply that there are sharks in the area?
  12. His Majesty Rama IX used to go to the Royal Palace at Hua Hin.
  13. I do not know about rips on Koh Samut but we have a couple of beaches with rips that I warn tourists about here on Samui. We do loose someone most years.
  14. This is what is printed out from the on line version. The paper version is just a filled in form. The first part is the accommodation details and the second part - one for each person
  15. I wonder if the police check to see how many of the young Agostini's actually have valid licences
  16. I think that this is more about lack of swimming skills. No amount of tweaking will fix that.
  17. So all of the senators, MP's and hangers on are going to catch buses?
  18. Who started this one ? What nationality was bombed and it's soldiers killed or injured? Your preference is for non terrorist nations to do nothing and slowly get killed off? The Gaza Hamas war - started by Hamas. The Red Sea conflict - started by Iranian backed terrorist The bombing of Jordan - started by terrorists There are more but you will still blame Biden.
  19. Try Google or DuckDuckGo. Russia started this 'special military operation' to remove neo-Nazis from Ukraine. Russia does not declare wars, it hides behind double speak so as to confuse people. As noted by some posters here who seem to want to blame Biden for all of the world's woes. Remember that the first casualty of war is the truth.
  20. I do not know of Grab or Bolt being on KPN. I always rent a scooter when I go there. There are non-meter taxis. Your hotel may offer a shuttle service for guests. If you look at the link that I posted, you have a couple of choices for Thong Sala. Seatran Discovery from Bangrak (closer to Chaweng) or Lomlahk/Lomprayah from Maenam
  21. If you are staying on Samui and going to the FMP, then book your speedboat as soon as you get here. You will have more choice. If you are staying on KPN for The FMP then it depends on where you are staying. If near Haad Rinn then there is only one ferry. The Haad Rinn Queen. Again book early. That one gets very busy. More choices if you are going to Thong Sala. I use this company for booking ferries to KPN. https://www.phanganferries.com/ There is no Bolt on Samui but there is Grab Lots of cannabis shops and cafes on Samui but I have no idea if they are 'nice'. Bangrak is a small village where the ferries/speedboats leave for KPN. At the last count, there were more than 13.
  22. Well, this posting was about one of the best known 'tourist' areas in Bangkok. Strange though it seems, not all bars are like that. Mind you, I have not been to Soi Cowboy for about 5 - 7 years and it certainly was not like that then. As for Pattaya, I would be going back 15 - 20 years. When we lived in Bangkok, my wife was quite happy to go with me and a friend and talk to the girls in the bars there. She enjoyed chatting to them. In spite of stereotypes, they are human beings. Here on Samui, things are different. Apart from December to March, the girl's earnings are limited. I go with friends to the bars in Chaweng about every three to four months outside of high season. The girls know us and are quite happy to come and chat with us - until some young stud walks in. Then they go off. Sometimes they leave with the punter, otherwise they come back and talk to us. They all know that we never bar fine the girls. I am a widower and I am not interested in a relationship at my age but it is always nice to chat with a pretty young girl with no hassle and no strings attached. Their stories can be quite entertaining. We never go to Go Go bars. Too noisy. Yes. we would buy them the occasional drink as we would anywhere in the world and we were chatting to a young lady. Each to his own.
  23. Bring it on I say. Stop all of this dilly dallying, wipe out half of the world' population and let's start again. The only downside is having to learn Mandarin. I am useless with tonal languages.
  24. The law has been around for a while, before 2017, but it was largely ignored. 1970's? The law states that you must register (TM 30) your place of accommodation within 24 hours of arrival. It is the legal responsibility of the house owner, landlord, property manager, hotel to do this. However, if they refuse, and you do not have one, immigration may - refuse to talk to you arrest you or whatever. This seems to differ by IO location. The bottom line these days is that if you want to talk to immigration about anything, it is more likely to be more fruitful if you are registered on the TM 30 database.
