My payback on 13 panels, no batteries, was less than 2.5 years BUT...... I live on a private development. Electricity is 8 baht/unit plus VAT plus FT. I only use a/c in March and April - sometimes. Fans on 24/7. Windows/doors open all day and most of the night - even when I am away. Pool timer is on daytime only. I switch the beer fridge off at night (heavy electricity user) and when it is switched back on in the morning I am already on solar.

Thailand to set up safe zone, deliver aid to Myanmar border towns

Too little, too late. The Burmese Junta has been murdering and arresting its citizens for more than three years already. -
Thai Airways takes flight with new Boeing 787 jets

If it's Boeing, I ain't going. 🤭 -
I do not insure through Asia Direct but I had a similar problem with AXA. Due to a screw up on my part, anniversary dates for road tax and comprehensive insurance were different. To obtain road tax, you must show the 3rd party compulsory insurance, so I paid that when I got the 'MOT'. But AXA automatically also charges the compulsory insurance. Eventually, I received a refund with the help of the agent. Sorry if this does not help.

Chinese New Year Koh Phangan
Tropicalevo replied to delgarcon's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Maehaad Bay Resort on the top NW coast - next to Koh Ma. http://www.maehaadbayresort.com/ I would guess that many hotels do something similar. -
Chinese New Year Koh Phangan
Tropicalevo replied to delgarcon's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
I am currently on KPN and Thong Sala has at least two roads decked out with rows of Chinese lanterns and 'walking streets' in the evening. The Chinese temple in Thong Sala is also all set up for the lunar celebration. The hotel where I am staying is also setting up ready for an 'event' but I will be gone before it happens. In previous years, the hotel has had offerings and a dragon dance etc. -

I agree with Keeps. No alcohol on the 24th. The Full Moon Party on KPN has been moved to Sunday 25th so as not to interfere with Macha Bucha day.

Coin Counters - What to do with spare change?
Tropicalevo replied to EVENKEEL's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Most weeks I buy flowers for the temple. (Son, wife and friend's ashes are there.) When I pay for the flowers at the shop, I use the loose change. Always more than the bill. (13 baht x 3 for chrysanthemum sprays is ridiculously cheap.) The old lady there is always happy to see me. -
You should be on the new system. Immigration have asked that everyone goes onto it. In a real world, where systems are checked thoroughly, the old database should have ben migrated to the new database but....... I would definitely enter your details on the new system if I were you. You will need to re-register.

I have three Samsung fridges. Happy with all of them. Inverter models are more quiet.

British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand

Maybe because they are not all native English speakers. I am not sure that American/English counts. 😉 -
British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Your example of one is not a great cross selection of teachers in Thailand. The International schools near me (3) employ almost only Brits. So what does that prove? Nothing. -
British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Thailand wants NATIVE English speaking teachers for the best education. Yes - there are probably lots more Brits teaching in Thailand than other nationalities. Not sure what 'filthy perverts' you are on about. It looks like a young 16 year old foreign girl fell in love with her teacher. Not unusual. Went back to his place a number of times and had a passionate time with him. Parents found out and some 10 years later, want him prosecuted for 'taking her from her parents without their permission'. -
Fixed it. 🤭

British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
In a different newspaper report, it was said that the parents waited until the girl finished her education as they did not want her to be distracted. As you say - strange story. -
