  1. I say hi to everyone that I see where I live. Thais always respond. Foreigners - usually do but not always.
  2. But will "Boss" be there again in the RB hospitality area? RB are certainly struggling to hold the moral high ground.
  3. Here the DL is less of an issue. It is a lot to do with negotiation and settlement. The judge would rather not make a decision as one side would loose face. I was involved in an accident back when Noah was a lad and in court the judge explained that even though it wasn't my fault, I would have to pay something as compensation. (This was Hua Hin, not Samui.) I told the judge that I had no problem with paying but that I thought that 3 million baht was a bit steep. The judge agreed and told the family to be realistic and told them how much he would ask me for. If they did not accept his findings, they would go to gaol. Case solved. Both the police and the judge were dead straight with me. All agreed that it was not my fault. Mind you, lawyers are a different kettle of fish. The lawyer that I used stole a car from me later on and also ripped me off on my visa overstay (because of the court case).
  4. Without knowing the lad - difficult to say. If he wants to fight, maybe let him get it out of his system. When he has been beaten black and blue a few times, he will either give up or get better and turn it into a (hard) living.
  5. I have been told that BA is applying to increase the number of flights in per day from the current 50, to 73. Can anyone confirm this please? Lately, there have been between 40 and 47 flights per day but this is high season. It is usually in the 30 - 40 flights per day range.
  6. Agree 100% But no one mentions the Red Bull heir ("Boss") who killed a policeman. He is free, never been to gaol, never been tried in 'absentia'. He jets around the world (including Thailand I'll bet) and no one says anything. This has been going on since 2012.
  7. I only stay in hotels where the rooms have individual a/c units. I always switch them off. The ambient temperature of the hotel is enough.
  8. Ceiling fan 24/7. Slow speed. Duvet when the temp in the bedroom is below 28 C. Only use a/c when temp in the bedroom is > 32 C. A/c set to 28.5 and usually wake up at some stage and switch it off if I am cold. Newish a/c unit with an inverter and when I set it to 'econ' I cannot hear the bloomin thing and forget to switch it off.
  9. A very sad situation. Here, we have a dodgy government where many are in bed with the drug lords/military in Burma. I have read that in the last couple of days, more than 50 young Burmese, both male and female, have been 'arrested' in Thailand after fleeing the conscription there. I am pretty sure that they will be sent back to Burma and who knows what horrors await them.
  10. I was involved in a bad traffic accident a long time ago and I agree with your mate. I have also been involved in a few other cases (murder, theft and others) and again, the same observation. Various locations - Bangkok, Hua Hin, Samui etc. I also include the judges in that description.
  11. PM Srettha wakes up to threat of cheap Chinese goods dumped on Thailand Does this PM have cotton wool in his head? This has been going on for years and he only just realises it now!
  12. I would always go for Krungsri. I have tried a few others (not all) and they are far the best in my experiance BUT it does depend on the staff in the branch. Also, they still allow internet banking (but you do not have to use it). You do not have to download dodgy apps.
  13. And......... That is still just talk Mr PM. What are you doing about it?
  14. And maybe he saved a life or two by stopping the fight.
  15. Krungsri 'suspend' the account if there are no transactions for 12 months. 1,000 baht to get it going again. Just make sure that you can check your balance on-line.
  16. An easement is a legal document that allows the person/land owner named on it to have access. digbeth is correct in his warning about the developer. The developer that sold me the land said that I would have access to it via an easement. Then he put the road up as security to the bank for a loan. I had to wait 5 years for him to pay off the loan before I was given the easement. The other thing to watch for is access for utilities. The developer here put in the smallest road possible (to make more money on the land sales) and then he had to put the utilities on people's properties. Many are unhappy with that. My neighbour has an issue with water supply but they have to dig up my garden to fix it. 😟
  17. I asked the same question a while back on the Samui forum. Had lots of good answers but they were unsuitable for what I wanted. It seems that all of the sensors are rechargeable via a USB cable. I wanted to put the sensor on the wall outside of my house.
  18. AND RB breached the spending cap on development of the 'new' car. Easy to have a better car if you spend more than your competitors. This little fact has been ignored by most and do not say that the beach was a minor amount. It was a major amount until there were private negotiations with the Arab. It was a 'good' cheat by Little Jack.
  19. Will you be giving free phones to everyone? Help and free network services to the poor, help on usage to the handicapped and courses on how to avoid being scammed? If no - forget cashless. Cashless is stupidity by the rich.
  20. Good luck with that one. Doctors are not allowed to discuss a patient's condition with third parties. End of.
  21. I wonder why it is that whenever there is a criticism/comment about cannabis use, the old diversion of alcohol usually appears. Are cannabis users ex-alcoholics?
  22. And lots of folk think that apps on phones are safe. It just makes scamming others more easy.
