  1. Thank you for your reply!

Well in one way, I'm lucky as me and my ex are still on speaking terms. But what if someone does not have contact or the spouse refuses just out of spite? There is no sense whatsoever in this request from Immigration.

My extension expires tomorrow, immigration has told me not to come back, but that they will call me. I have no proof that I have submitted the paperwork nor did they take the 1900 application fee.. They just told my son and me to go home. All very strange..

I have to go back in the morning again as I won't risk having them come the day after and say I'm on overstay...

  2. Has anyone been asked in Bangkok for their ex-spouse to show up for the extension of Non-O based on Thai child?
I have been divorced for 5 years, always renewed in Hua Hin, but yesterday in Bangkok I was told that my ex-wife needs to accompany me and my son in order to renew my visa.

What kind of logic is that? She could be re-married and moved to any other country in the world, despite having shared custody.

    Anyone had the same experience?
I assume they are just looking for an envelope..?

  3. After 15 years of constantly being sick (as in fever and fatigue) and no doctors at the private hospitals finding anything wrong, my last doctor told me to find an immunologist.

Does anyone have a reference or info on where I can find a reputable doctor who doesn't just take the normal blood tests and say he/she doesn't know what's wrong when they come back normal and who is preferable versed in the immune system

  4. The landoffice has that information. And yes if an agent's lips are moving then ....

I always give the check to the buyer after the title is transferred. No risk is better then a small risk.

Yawn yawn, the OP hasnt mentioned an agent, he stated developer or current owner, move on please KJ, the land office will not have that information, the current owner will need to obtain from JP office.

Triple yawn, as that is incorrect again, seems to be the norm, are you an agent by change?. Sure the JP office should know, but not always the case.

Landoffice is the only place that knows what is currently registered. It is on the moment you are transferring the condo in your name that the percentages are checked. With a building that is still under construction the risks is that the balance between foreign and Thai can change with sales. So what they do is first say there is still room (even when it is close to 49%), collect your down payment. The more professional (reputable) ones will make it a guarantee as they will do their work mostly correct, but still the only penalty for them is that you get your money back, not the intention when you buy. With 'dodgy' developers, anything goes.

Agents, developer, broker, lawyer etc are mostly interested in one thing only and that is make money. Nothing wrong with that, only the little 'white' lies to make everything more smooth (for them) is what you should be aware of.

And in Thailand they get away with it. What is acceptable here would never be accepted in a western country.

Where do you live? In some wonderfull world where nobody twists the truth a little in their advantage?

And guess what, those little 'white' lies are never in your favor.

Check, double check, triple check, then continue. The OP is not buying a pair of 199 baht shoes!

As a foreigner you can't transfer the condo to your name unless the seller proves that there is enough quota in the building. The seller has to get a debt free letter och information about the foreign/thai ownership quota from the juristic person in the building. Without these, there will be no sale or transfer.

The landoffice does NOT have this information. Period.

  5. Trogers - you have been spewing your negative views on the Bangkok property market for the last 5 years. Both here on thaivisa and on prakard. So far you have been wrong, but keep going and you may eventually be right...

Actually rental prices have not followed upwards at the same pace where appreciating of property prices has risen with almost 100%

Your 1.55m condos are located in the low quality Klong Toey housing projects for the less fortunate...

  6. Last couple of days getting frequent

    "Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): " in Chrome

    and in Firefox

"The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

On pages ranging from Youtube, Flickr and other small sites as well...

Happens on 5 computers on 2 different locations in Sukhumvit, Bangkok.

Caches, cookies, settings all cleared and rebooted..

Latest version of Firefox, IE and Chrome

  7. Apparently Lumpini Police station is involved and the police who raided the office are from another district or other type of police...

Lumpini Police has had one of their own stationed at the premises to make sure this didn't happen so the order must have come from higher up to raid this office, probably because of the death of a call center staff a couple of weeks ago.

  8. "But now at least 30 million baht inbound funds is required for an investor’s visa."

A quick call to the Bangkok immigration office and we had the reply that 10 million is needed for an investment visa.

Someone like Drew, with his close relationship with Pattaya Immigration and also running a Law and Visa firm, might want to check the facts before writing such a letter... One even might go as far and say he should know this without checking the facts before writing the letter...

  9. There used to be a website called Bumrungrad Death (which someone else has taken over and all old information is gone) about a father who lost his son in Bumrungrad and how they had altered records in the hospital after his sons death... It was on the news in both Bangkok and in the US but I don't think anything ever came out of it.. Basically he accused the hospital for killing his son and he had 2-3 other doctors examine the body who all agreed that Bumrungrad's "explanations" didn't add up..

Anyway, my son just came home after staying 3 nights at Bumrungrad.

Cost for the room alone was more than medicine and doctors' fees..

Price for a room is higher than most 5-star hotels in Bangkok.

Not long before international insurance companies will exclude Thailand from their list of countries where they provide cover (like many now do with HK, Singapore, Japan, Macau, Taiwan, China) unless you pay a higher premium..

  10. Could be flights returning from aborted landings at the airports that are closed in the south. (Samui, Surat and Nakhon closed since Sunday night/Monday morning.)

    Just a thought.

Samui is now open and so maybey you will see less of them.

    Thanks

However one would think that they knew before taking off, if that they can land at the airport of Samui or not...

I guess next couple of days will show if it's continuing or not..

Now I understand how the people living around Suvarnambhumi airport feels..:(

    Pretty annoying!

  11. Anyone knows why there are planes flying over Sukhumvit every 10 minutes since the last couple of days?

Have never seen this many planes in the area.. Flying at only 1000m over the city they sure make a lot of noise..
