  1. In my country we have a about 7 parties fighting for a place in government. There is one very small party that always is in between the 2 big blocks and every election they will go with the side that gives them what they want.. Sure people are complaining, but there are no new elections because of that... People know they have to wait for another 4 years and vote for their "side" instead to make sure...

  2. Richard Barrow on ThailandQA reckons numbers will reach 500,000 by evening. He's following the Samutprakan reds who are marching in.

That is more than the original Million Man March in Washington DC got, but nobody nitpicks about that. :)

Maybe you should start a separate thread for it... doesn't belong in this one...

  3. Making their voices heard? THEY ARE BEING PAID TO PROTEST!!!!!

the people i know who have gone have closed their business's to go and show their support, they are losing money to do it. i am sure i do not need to use the caps button to get my message over.

And so is everyone else who does not want to have any part of it..

  4. personally I hope they succeed and an election is called, let the winners run the country at the request of the people.

Do you support a bought election? vote buying? Misinformation? Non secret ballots?

    Just asking..

there is no other kind in the world, name me a country where this does not happen, Rule out States and most of Europe straight away.maybe we should put our own house in order before we start telling others what they should and should not accept when it comes to democracy.

Mm that is why they denied the UN to come and oversee the last election.

  5. Carib, instead of the condescending remarks, answer the question. Are you advocating mob rule?

No of course I am not, that is why the mob shouldn't be triggered.

Now if you don't understand that in the light of some 100.000 people in the streets trying to get attention for what they want ( right or wrong, I don't care), an arrest can have grave consequences for all, involved or not, than you can have your law, but certainly have no feel for the moment to apply it.

    Sorry about the boy part.

So wait until the government has been overthrown, the laws changed and he won't be prosecuted... GREAT!

That is what the reds are hoping for Thaksin... Get the reds in, change the laws and Thaksin can come back and get his money back and rule this country again..

  6. The law and justice in Thailand is for those with money. No money = no justice

Go to a policestation, file a report and ask them to take action... unless they get an envelope they won't do anything..

I've seen accidents in the middle of an intersection where policemen are sitting in their AC booth not bothering to come out.

In many countries you would be charged for not doing your duty as a police.

  7. here you are yourself actively participating and desperately defending the reds every step of the way.

Pointing out lies, half truths and silly exagerations is far from defending anyone. Why is it that anyone who doesn't buy your paranoid fantasies gets labeled a "Red"?

    Maybe it's your red avatar...

  8. Some posters sure get close to hatred for poor people, calling them uneducated, or (far) worse. Even without profanity, the underlying sentiment is that they're not worthy of voicing their opinion, are bought and stupid. They can deny this all they want but the key thing is that the rural poor themselves perceive it that way.

It would be really nice if everyone could muster some respect. Solutions to bridge divides happen when respect for other viewpoints is shown. :)

That's just ridiculous... no one hates the poor people.

But wouldn't it be nice if the "poor" people would be able to hear both sides to the story (reds and democrats) so that they can make an informed descision at the polls... instead of being just handed 20thb. Do you think they know the real difference between the different parties? But it's impossible when the other rival party is chased out of town when they want to speak..

On a side note, it seems some "poor" people think that Abhisit has cancelled the 20thb healthcare system... where does this come from unless it's red propaganda...

The rural people will only be allowed to hear what the reds want them to hear and that is not democracy.

  9. As long as there is no violence it is OK!, hope this is 1,000 Baht a day, if somebody parts with cash and others use it for something else it is business. They want to buy their protests that is ok, you pay me I go to protest for you!. I would be worried if they were protesting for free. Bought protests are expensive but cheap. What a big deal, if you pay everybody 5,000 a day you can probably get 20 mil people to protest for you.

Ok guys, just remember no violence and no destroying of property, burning and so on. If you do shame on you and your families. Be a nice protester. We all see you and appreciate your effort of coming to bkk.

Thailand needs business so remember that if you cannot find a job in the future it might be partly a result of your actions. Peace is good for business and riots, violence etc. is bad, basic school of money.

    My view entirely!

Rubbish. For the past few weeks we've been swamped with posts telling us just how many people would protest because they wanted to support the reds, and the sheer weight of numbers will be proof of just how many people share their view. Sorry guys, buying a mob and using it as proof of them supporting your policies doesn't really cut it. And the really funny thing? Some of the very same posters who were vehemently denying that the reds paid money are on this post now trying to justify it. Seems some poster's allegances can be bought just as easy as a red shirted protestors. And, as Thaksins little jaunt to Cambodia has put paid to the lie that it's not all about him, and the video showing the "peaceful" protestors can't even make it to Bangkok before attacking someone, it looks like any legs you had to stand on are well and truly broken.

    Thank you!!

  10. There's a land tax that you have to pay.

Can't remember the rate except that it was reduced to 0.1% for a period.

if you are a farang and have owned your condo less than 5 years you will pay an extra percentage, i cant remember what it is

If you sell it before end of March the taxes are next to nothing due to the tax rebate from government.

You can look on most brokers websites and find the tax rates.

  11. After 3 times to the police station and getting no response we went to see the superintendent on the second floor.

Took us 15 minutes with him and the report were being written, and they police man who has seen us 3 times got the evil eye from his boss...

It says on a big blue sign (in thai) that if you're not happy with the response from the police you should go see the boss upstairs, which we did, and which apparently was the right move.

Just good to know if someone has a problem filing a report or dealing with a lazy police like we did... go see the superintendent...

  12. Nobody has a clue?

I called them today and they said these packages are only for blackberry+ the desired application.

I don't know if they will block other traffic or not..

If you want unlimited for Balckberry it will cost 650thb/month.

If you want unlimited for any other phone it will cost 990thb/month.

I don't see why unlimited GPRS with a samsung would be different from unlimited GPRS with a blackberry...

Not sure they can check the traffic or not? Internet traffic would be the same on any phone, but don't know if blackberry has any other data that could be tracked and so if you use the "blackberry gprs" on another phone they will shut down the service??

  13. We had a representative from the electric company in Phuket come to our office with their collection book and wearing their identification badge around his neck. We paid him and got a stamped signed receipt. A couple weeks later we got an overdue notice so we went to the electric company office and showed them the receipt. They told us that the employee had been fired before the date we had paid and had never turned in the money so we had to pay the bill or the electricity would be turned off. We went to the police who took a report but nothing ever came of it.

Why am I not surprised... Really, how difficult would it be to find this guy?? Surely the electric office has his personal file and id number...

Hopefully you had a very low electricity bill...

  14. i would say that if your employee on that day was collecting money on your behalf then he would be stealing from you as the clients have rightly paid the company representative the money they owed, if on the other hand the employee just went and asked your clients to pay him without the company knowledge then he would be stealing from them.

Well payment was due as work had been done for the clients, otherwise they would surely not have paid anything...

So it would, as I thought, be stealing from us...

  15. "we made a quick call to the social security office and apparently this guy was blacklisted."

    This has made me curious.

Why did you initiate a call to social security?

For what would soc sec 'blacklist' someone?

Hope all this works out well for you.

    Terry

    Terry,

We cancelled his social security fund once he was fired and the social security staff checked his previous record and told us he was blacklisted as apparently his work record showed that he was not staying at one place very long before getting fired... A simple check with previous workplaces would probably have spared us all this trouble....

    Thanks

  16. Ericthai - Actually, we have spoken to all clients today and they have all been issued "cash receipts" without company letter head and signed by the former employee. All clients have agreed to help with whatever they can, so all good on this point. So thankfully we don't have to get into arguments with clients and having issues with them and losing business over it. They all actually said it was a little bit suspicious the way he acted and why it was in such a rush to collect money and why the receipts were without lettterhead and signed by him...

Now, we are just going to collect these cash receipts from the clients and off we go to the police station again to see if we have better luck..

Jonathanpattaya - I hear you! I had another issue a couple of years ago with a forged check. The police didn't want to do anything and the lawyer we used was useless and nothing came out of it... I didn't pay the lawyer either so didn't lose out more than the check...

Opalhort - the employee collected cash and has issued his own receipts to the clients. He has never returned to the office since which all other employees can vouch for and there are no deposits into our account, so don't know how he will be able to claim we got the money.

I am still going the police route as I can't see why we wouldn't be able to do this.. The guy stole money from the company and no lawyer should be needed nor a civil case. If the police would just call the clients they would have confirmed a lot already. But it seems justice in this country is only for those with money and who are willing to pay up in front to get it...

    Thanks for all replies!

  17. please see replies in bold.

I don't know procedures of thai law but if someone steals money one would presume the police would investigate?

as a matter of fact....as much as i feel sorry that such incident happened to your company or to anyone else,

but your statement and attitudes.... - Yes? Is something wrong?

yes i also realize that you are rightfully quite upset over what happened.... - ofcourse

as far as i could gather from your statement so far.... there is nothing yet that you have done.... so far....

to initiate an investigation.... - well we have been to the police station twice and nothing has been written down on their part.. we have everything about the employee on paper with his id, residential address, contract with clients whos money he has stolen etc

opalhort.... is quite correct.... you have not filed any complaint yet.... against any one.... right? - No, because the police doesn't want to take our report even being there twice. First time we came we got the police guys private number to call him for next appointment. Next time we came everyone at the office were whispering "ah-this is xxx case" (xxx=name of the police). Still no report taken and the police said this will be difficult and we need to get all the clients to the station before doing anything. So NO - no complaint filed, but not because we didn't want to but because the police didn't want to take any report

get someone other than yourself.... yes i also assume that you speak almost perfect thai.... to go with you to file a formal complaint.... to start the ball rolling.... so to speak.... and right away too, pls.... - We have been 2 people both times at the station, one foreigner and one thai

another interesting point.... you stated that the alleged money mishandling person already employed a lawyer....? to fight against your company's handling or mishandling an employee....? - well I don't know. At the police station we called the former employee (he has of course been fired due to gross misconduct) and asked if he would turn up for the appointment (which he earlier on the day said he would) but now he said that his lawyer had advised him not to come to the police station. That is it... I don't even know if they guy has a lawyer of if he is just playing more games.

it is quite interesting.... under normal circumstances.... an alleged thief.... would flee trying to disappear.... but here the person appeared to stand his/her ground and digged in to fight.... - He is not fighting, he is just playing games and even asked what the name of the police we were talking to... we made a quick call to the social security office and apparently this guy was blacklisted. Should have called and checked before but he came on reference from another employee who has been crying since this happened...

    very interesting indeed....

nevertheless.... as oplhort suggested.... get a lawyer quickly.... and right away, pls.... afterwhich pls fill us in with particular and detail, so we might be educated as well.... and thx in advance.

if i misread or misinterpreted your statement.... my humble apology....

ericthai - sadly I guess this is the only way to go... but I am just curious... why the police is giving out his private number, not taking a note/report even though we been there twice and saying that this will be so difficult. A quick phone call or visit to the clients would prove our point, that the staff has stolen the money that was supposed to be paid to the company. But now it is up to us to get the clients to come to the station with us.. just seems like the police wants us to do their job...

Today will call to all clients asking them for the receipt of the payments done and see if they got one and who has signed as receiver of the money. If no receipt has been given we have nothing to show the police and I really don't want to get in trouble with our clients as well... if the police would just call the client of visit them there would be no need for this...

    Oh well...
