  1. hi,

i´ll be moving to bkk (from germany) next month with my family and am now comparing various health insurance companies for health insurances.

i saw here an ad of "goodhealth" (uk) - can someone tell me anything positive / negative about this company and/or make other recommendations?

    thanks a lot in advance!

    khun_j

I just did a tonsilectomy (removed tonsils) in BNH, but after sending all the papers to Goodhealth they refuse to pay me back. They say that the Doctor at BNH has told them that I have had this problem before and so they will not cover for the surgery. The thing is that I have never been to BNH before about this problem... So now I don't know what to do. Goodhealth has since stopped replying to my emails...

    I would not recommend.

  2. Use a bank in Luxembourg... They won't let any info out..

Luxembourg & Switzerland are now under pressure.

More and more they succumb to European tax authorities.

    I guess we'll see..

I just had a talk with "my bank" the other day and they assured me that nothing would happen in the near future. But if something would happen I'm pretty sure they have a solution for it already (maybe branch in another part of the world where they will just move the money to...)

    I'm not worried.

  4. Yes, I could buy them in my country (USA) before I get there, but I love the SE Asia discount.

I posted also in General Topics. Anybody know where to get quality glasses? Laser surgery? Contacs? Looking for eye doctors. Either in BK or Rattanaburi, Surin. I do time in both localities. Please help. Thank you to anybody who can help.

I had a great experience when I fixed my eyes in Bangkok. Check out

  5. I am a frequest user of the Royal Thai Post and sending small packets to Sweden. I have always been using their "small packets" and "registered airmail" without any problems and I have probably sent thousands of packets all arriving safe and sound after approx 5-7 days (no EMS).

However from February and onwards the same service from different postoffices is now taking between 4-6 weeks instead of days. I have emailed customer support twice without reply (their website is in english so I guess they have english speaking staff...). Don't know what is going on...

    Anyone with some insight ?

    Thanks.

  6. What's the embassy like?I want to try there instead of Penang to renew a one year multiple entry Non-immigrant O visa.Got one with no problems in Penang.Want to take wife and kids to Singapore for a holiday.

In Singapore at the moment and are just about to pick up my visa. Can only tell you for the Non-B visa.. They will only issue a 3 months single visa as they say they been told by Bangkok not issue any longer visas. Don't know about Non-O.

  7. What is going on? What would they give me if I didn't have a workpermit?

I'd better go for a double tourist visa instead...

If you do that, you'll lose your WP.

Well I didn't really mean I would do that, my point was just that I would get to stay longer in Thailand as a tourist than as a company owner...

  8. Just in Singapore now and applying for a new Non B visa.

According to them I will only get a 3 months visa as I'm a "workpermit holder"...

I have a 6 months multiple entry Non B issued in Kota Bahru before but the emabssy in Singapore now says new rules and I will only get a single entry 3 months Non B. I have all papers in order, workpermit and I'm the business owner...

What is going on? What would they give me if I didn't have a workpermit?

I'd better go for a double tourist visa instead...

So from now on I will have to go and make a new Visa every 3 months? How about the rule of moving permanetly to Thailand. This would now be impossible as you would need at least 3-5 (don't remeber) consecutive 1 year Visas...

    Can someone please explain...

    Thanks

  9. Just in Singapore now and applying for a Non B visa.

According to them I will only get 3 months visa as I'm a workpermit holder... What BS is that?

I have a 6 months multiple entry Non B issued in Kota Bahru before but the emabssy in Singapore now says new rules and I will only get a single entry 3 months Non B. I have all papers in order, workpermit and I'm the business owner... What is going on?

  10. Just heard rumours from a friend that Blue Wave closed last night because they didn't pay the police. And that doesn't seem to be be the only problem the new manager has...

Hope to see old Blue Wave back as it was soon...

  11. Actually, it was Privilege Club above New Wave.

Both sold and presdently under renovation. Seems the new ownerr makes upstairs a Jazz Club.

Not New Wave but Blue Wave..

And the Privilege Club was a dining place where the hostesses fed you and after the main course I guess they continued for interco... I mean desert..

Now closed and as far as I heard it's gonna be a coctail lounge.

To bad really what they have done to Blue Wave now...

  12. The *.dmp files are created when your computer blues screens. If you don't want to send them to Microsoft for analysis you can delete them.

Why are you defragmenting in the first place?

Why not? I do it every week to keep my harddrive up to speed!

  13. Dear all,

Thank you for your help but it seems that it depends of the location of the bank and maybe the date you opened your account, coz bangkok bank told me that I couldn't open an account without working permit because the Thai national bank now forbid this.

It's very boring for me I still don't have any account and I have to go everywhere with my cash !! :o

I really need a bank to make a deposit and have an ATM card. Please give me the adress of a bank I could contact

    Cheers :D

    Nailu

If you're in Bangkok try Siam Commercial on Sukhumvit soi 21. I opened a savings account without workpermit and I get 1% interest or something on the account... Trouble free! They were very helpful when I opened it (personal account)

I also tried opening a business account for my company, but as my WP was not finished they told me to come back later with WP and a letter from the company saying I can open a business account (simply me writing an official company letter).

    Cheers

  14. Had a similar issue with Tesco in Samui, where I bought TV, Surround system, DVD and some other stuff. After a month when the receiver broke down I went to Tesco and wanted them to repair it. They asked me for the warranty card but I didn't have one with me, only the sales slip showing it was only 1-2 months old.

Went back home to search but soon realised that I hadn't got a warranty card for any of the products I had bought at Tesco.

Went back to tell them this but there was no way they would take it back and repair it. The manager wasn't on site so I just left the receiver at the service desk and walked out (after 1 hour of explaining I was so angry I didn't care anymore).

Sent a letter to the manager for Tesco but never received an answer (think he's a foreigner..).

I will never shop anything at Tesco again...

  15. I have some money on hold in a PayPal account and according to their support they will hold the money for 180days and then they will send me a check if I contact them saying I want(?) the money... It's gonna be 180 days in beginning of July.. Gonna be fun to see if I get the money or not..

Not a lot of interest I'm missing on these money, but if they do this to thousands of people...

  16. Is it safe the road from Dong Muang Airport to Hua Hin Hyatt coz arriving 11/07 sunday at 9h00.

Would like to hear some opinions.

How good is the road to Hua Hin?For reference , had use highway to Pattaya

    Thanks

I've travelled Bangkok - Samui many times with car (passing Hua Hin). Never had any problems.

However sometimes you will see some traffic comming in the wrong direction because people want to shorten their trip by 500 meter and taking the U-turn before their planned turn and continues in the wrong direction on the wrong side...

One part is kind of bumpy, don't remember if it's before Hua Hin or after (coming from Bangkok)

    But otherwise it's ok.
