  1. I got dentures about 2 years ago, my teeth were much like yours seem to be, I got all my teeth extracted save one (2 trips, 1 would have been horrendous). At first (like 6 months) I absolutely hated them and survived on soft foods but with a new overseas assignment I was forced more or less to wear them most of my waking hours and to begin eating whatever I could. Things are fine now, I can eat just about anything and I have a great smile, have even slept with them on occasion since I do feel so comfortable with them. My opinion is to go for it but your mileage may vary. Dental work and dentures were done in Thailand btw. ( not a single person excluding those very close to me have a clue I wear dentures either)

  2. This area, Phra Phra Daeng, is not far from where I live. 3-4 years ago Time magazine, in its Best of Asia issue, listed it as "Best Urban Oasis". Some really nice houses and some parts are very nice. Cannot get there by skytrain unless you take it to Taksin station, take the Marriott boat to the hotel across the river and then hire a taxi.........it is, as Time said, to stand amid the trees along the road, ok, jungle, and be able to view the hi-rises downtown

  3. Just for the ++ complainers (and also do not complain I never post here), a close friend works in the kitchen and she confirmed, without me asking, that they get their share of the service charge every day although she saves it for the end of the month, avg. 70-100/day. Not a bad addition to their salary by local standards

  4. BBQ is BBQ Sandwich King and is excellent run by a nice American guy named Mark, the deli probably doew not deliver but has American style food and delicious blueberry pancakes.......owned by THais who resided in USA before, around the corner is a mexican restaurant that also does pizza/burgers etc..not too shabby............big foreign community there in Nitchada Thani

There are several places in the nonthaburi area to get farang food.

there are three places right in one area off of Tiawanon road. a subway, a deli and a BBQ place. all are located on soi samakee.

I know the subway and the BBQ place deliver not sure about the deli.

  5. I have it on good word that the NBA is in final stages of signing a TV deal with Truevisions and there should be alot of NBA on TV starting in a month or so. Also have good source the NBA will be doing their first ever EVENT here in May,...IO think it will be a legends game or something, will be held on the Plaza of Central World and will run as a joint promo with something from Chelsea EPL....

In the meantime...HOME RUN, Sukhumvit Soi 31 has NBA. Tomorrow morning (FRI 18th) there is a GREAT game on at 8:00 AM....Derrick Rose and his upstart Chicago Bulls take on Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs who have the best record in the NBA. As it is a holiday we will open early, serve some great brekkies and show the game.

Check out our face book fan page for details http://www.facebook.com/pages/Home-Run-Bar-Grill-Bangkok/107675352627100

How many of the playoff games will you be getting? Where do you have parking? Can you post a menu om Facebook?

  6. I received a new "O" Marriage visa on 11 June 2009, it is new, my prior one lapsed because I was working in Russia and going in and out a lot. It is valid until 10 June 2010 and is multiple entry. Should I have gotten a re-entry permit before returning to work this time? I assumed being multiple entry I could, well, do multiples over the year it is valid.

Lopburi - help me out here and all this visa stuff gets my head spinning

  7. If you do decide to get an IDL you need to go to the U.S. Consulate first and get a paper saying something, I forget what actually but the consulate will know, the Department of Land Transportation in Mor Chit will require it, you will also need a work permit or 1 year visa like retirement/marriage

  8. I bought a Besta, it is great and does both Thai and English. Only problem ever was in Pattaya where it does not know the one way streets between Beach Road and 2nd road but it is not a problem there of course. I bought the big screen that mounts on my windscreen above the dash for about B14,000, smaller screen is B9,000..............good thing is I can pinpoint my favorite restuarants and key them in and send my driver to get me dinner with my order

  9. Today, one year ago Tacos & Salsa open to public for the very first time.

Congratulations Jorge, I will drop by for a drink and some great enchiladas. Everyone should know your margaritas are killer! Quite strong!

  10. There is a Zen in Central World just outside Zen Dept. Store on the third floor, across fom Starbucks, it is an upscale branch, I dream of an appetizer there, foei gras on top of sushi/avocado rice, it it obscenely good, they have outrageuosly priced dishes, Yagyu beef/Abalone etc., but it is totally worth it. Good stuff, well, excellant! It takes awhile to learn Central World but it is nice, Kinokinuya in Paragon is better tho

  11. Ordered 25 Tamales from Jorge at Tacos and Salsa last week and took delivery a few days ago, they were all pork. Excellent! His Mexican is a blesing to this thread and I hope will end the endless debate, lol. It is authentic, not tex-mex or cal-tex but mexiacan. Jorge is a good guy as well, very personable, cannot wait until he gets more space (small location now) and he ia planning on adding new items to his menu. Give this a try for Real Mexican food!

Jorge - work a deal for better parking please right next door

  12. If you wish to see some great examples of Thai graffiti go to www.bangkokeyes.com, its a monthly blog mostly on the bar scene but usually ends with some photos of incredible graffiti, they also have an archive and its a good place on bar scene history

  14. My first avatar was pretty cool, and altho I do not post much I got several compliments in IM. It was a guy saying something that if you read lips good, could be construed and saying a curse word. It was removed and I was warned! Now why anyone can type a curse word and replace a vowel with an asterix abd is acceptable, go figure............

Most avatars I associate with the people, agree with earlier posters that guys with girl pics are kinda odd, but they are cute pics!
