  1. Anyone know about what i do in case of photo evidence? When i first was with my g/f i took photos with a cheap camera and that dont have a date on it for showing the daes photos were taken, my second trip i bought a digi cam and it has got the dates on that should i still submit my first photos even though they dont have dates on them , Maybe write the date on back of photo or ?? I am right with other photos as the dates are there i am worried bout first group photos .. What shall i do..Any ideas...

Dates on photos would probably be prefered, but they should be able to look at the undated pics and see you & her together in different clothes, locations & hair cuts etc. I don't think they would be overly picky if you have the other evidence to back it up, as well as having done the paperwork thoughtfully.

  2. They quote 9 months to cover their <deleted>! I have yet to hear about anyone's visa taking 6 months to process. I believe this can only be the case if you lodge really INCOMPLETE applications. My case (for fiancee visa) went like this: Lodged all the paperwork February 14, 2005, interview March 21, granting of visa March 30!

That's quick! My wife and I applied for a spouse visa 25th Jan then had an interview on the 8th March and we are still waiting. We are married and have been living together for nearly 2 years, she is also pregnant, she passed the medical and police clearence check, we have plenty of cash in the bank and I have a good paying job waiting for me in Oz and we filled in the forms very carefully, but we still haven't got ours yet and it's too late to fly home so she'll have the baby here.

I'm tempted to call them and ask why the ###### it's taking so long (over 3 months since applying, 2 months since interview) now we have to stay here longer than we would have liked to. We don't look dodgy either, she's mid 20's and I'm 30 and a happily married couple. I can't stand the oz embassy, they're an embaressment to any aussie, I don't know why they take so long it's no rocket science, Just stamp the ######ing thing and be done with.

  3. I see a lot of thai/farang kids on television on childrens' shows and in general, not to mention all of the older actors/actresses and musicians etc. You often see the mother, but I've never seen a father with them and as for interviews with the famous ones, I don't really hear them talking about their dad, but often only their mothers. I know that there are many happily married thai/farang families with kids they both adore and on the other hand there are many farang who came here on holiday and got a woman pregnant, but couln't settle down with a one night stand. So where are the dads?

  4. I remember asking my missus why does everyone running in the election have a white suit. She said they go to the king and say 'I'm ready".

As for the medals, well like most cultures if your rich and important you get plenty of medals, but if you're a hard working average Joe, you get sweet FA.

  5. We put our application in and then we got a letter a week later, confirming the date of our interview & name of our case worker etc. There was a list of what they wanted, which was a police clearence and a medical, which was to be done in the month before the interview. I would do it this way, but you can always call the embassy if you want to know if it's ok.

  6. About a week ago, my wife & I had our interview at the Oz embassy and we both felt like it went well. We had her medical done about 2 weeks before the interview and they told us at the hospital that everything went fine, but our case worker said they were still waiting for our medical papers to come back from Australia, is this normal practice?( from hospital to the embassy to Aus and back to embassy).

Anyway, our CW realised that she is pregnant and she would tell the decision maker, because time is ticking and she can't fly in the last trimester of her pregnancy. She also said that I should look into whether our child could gain dual citizenship if born in oz, but I've already checked and it can. Well we are waiting now for the phone call, but we wont hold our breath. God knows why they take so long compared to other embassies, how long does it take for a simple yes or no.

  7. Thanks! We went today, no problems. I called the embassy before starting this thread and they didn't tell me, they said 'look on the website', but I couldn't see it. They didn't give us any info at the time of applying either, so I finally got through to another operator, who helped me.

As cobber said, Rama 1 Rd (parham 1) Royal Thai Police Headquarters, in between

Sukumvit & Siam square and around the corner from world trade.

Make sure to take originals & copies of family book, birth cert & ID card. Take Thai passport.

  8. Good in some ways, bad in others.

On another thread 'Bronco' mentioned he got a briefing and forms on the first visit and another member called 'genuine', said he got thier visa in 5 weeks and an interview on the first visit.???? My case stinks already.

    cheers!

  9. Geezzz, it takes a while then. Drop em off a heap of money and wait a few months.

My friend is English and his wife got hers in 3 weeks for the UK, Australia's system is slow as. Bloody hopeless. :o

If the interview goes well they will give us a medical form and a police clearence form. Have you got any idea how long it takes for police clearence checks to be done in Thailand? :D

Another thing I'm worried about is that she's 3.5 months pregnant. I guess our kid will be born here after all. Will that affect her visa?

    Thanks!

  10. Last Tuesday my wife and I went to the embassy to give our applications + evidence etc. It was very busy that day and the line up was huge. The web site had been down and we were'nt sure how much it was so we lined up and asked, she said 41,050 bt only payable by cheque. So we went to the bank and waited in another huge line and got the cheque. We went back at about 11.40am and the line was even longer, there were a lot of students applying that day. We finally got to the window and handed over our papers, sat down & waited for her name to be called, then she asked if we had an appointment for an interview. How could we if we were only at the first stage of the procedure? (Step 1: To have application forms, certified copies, evidence, written statements, stat decs and the cheque).

She told us to go home and they will send a letter asking for anything else they require and a date for our interview. I think :o

I thought that we were supposed to have our interview that day. Well, I assume we will be getting this letter this week.

Is this the usual procedure at the oz embassy?

    Any comments welcome.

    Thanks!

  11. A few days late, but Happy Australia Day diggers! I'm from Newcastle, I do miss living between the beach and the lake. Me & the missus should be there again if the embassy pull their finger out.

  12. Australia to open Visa Application Centre in Thailand

“I am confident that all visa applicants to Australia will welcome these new arrangements, which will start on Australia Day, 26 January 2005. The new Australian Visa Application Centre will be conveniently located in the Thai CC Tower Building on South Sathorn Road, opposite Surasak BTS Station.” added the Ambassador.

Starting on Australia day, I would suspect it not to be opened until 27th. My wife and I were going to apply for a spouse visa on Tuesday, however I think we are better off waiting for the AVAC to open.

Is there any more news on this?

Will it really be open on 26th?

It seems promising, but I'll still remain dubious after hearing one too many sad stories.

  13. Well, we have finally got everything together and we will apply on Friday, however I need to ask a few more questions please:

Can we pay cash at the embassy?

Will just 2 stat decs suffice?

Her passport has got English, so we didn't translate it and it also has her name change from when we got married. Is this ok or can someone at the embassy certify it if neccessary?

    Thanks!

  14. I don't think she cares. I mean, if it's good enough for her then it's good enough for you. It sound like she has been busy lately too and by the sounds of it you don't see much of each other, only off & on. Different story if you were married or in a serious relationship. She would be a hypocrite if she was to cut it off.

  15. Maybe it should be closed. The question was answered in the first few posts anyway. It's always gonna be asked as THIS IS THAILAND and people are'nt always gonna search every thing before starting a topic. Alot of good threads get closed on this site anyway, especially in general topics (farangs don't have much of a voice in Thailand as it is, even on Thai-related sites it seems). Close it and it will be asked again in the future, lalala, whatever. Scraping the barrel isn't better than new topics regardless of whether they have been discussed before or not.

  16. 2 days ago I started a thread in general topics about what Thai guys can do, but we can't do back home.A fair enough topic that was intended to spark up a chat about the 2 cultures. I have been a bit bored reading about bar girls and crap. Anyway I came home today and wanted to check how it was going, but it's not there. Did someone say something wrong?

    Cheers!
